  1. << What I plan on doing is buying $56.35/day in OBC. I probably won't drink it all, so it'll be there for other stuff. But I'll still drink as if I had the AIBP because it costs the same either way.>>

    This strategy is brilliant in its simplicity. I hope I might eventually have come to the same conclusion, but maybe not.

  2. This is an odd question, and likely inconsequential, but I am curious. The Cruise Personalizer section, under Princess EZ Air, lists my airport as TLH, which I had to look up to see that it means Tallahassee. I have never used that airport, and never expect to, so how in the world would it have wound up on my Personalizer page? Explanations or theories, anyone? (The actual flight itinerary is listed correctly, so I assume there's no real problem.)

  3. Our travel agency offered a $400 credit, which is listed on the invoice. But the Princess website section where the credit should appear has removed any mention of it, even though it showed there earlier. Could someone please explain (or speculate) what's going on. I did not receive a fare reduction. (The travel agency says it "should be added later" but that doesn't seem very definitive.) Thanks.

  4. Upper birth??? Berth? Thanks, but in any case, I remain mystified.

    p.s., edit: -- Looked a little further for earlier posts and saw descriptions of the "upper berth" or bunks or whatever they are. We won't be needing anything like that, just want to make sure the normal bed options (twins or twins pushed together) won't be sacrificed.

  5. Can someone please explain what this is supposed to mean?

    << BALCONY - SOME 1 UPPER & 1 ROLLAWAY ->>

    (This is from a description of Category BD on Crown Princess. I have been on Princess ships several times and do not understand this bit of gibberish.)

    Thanks.

  6. Thanks for the quick reply, shredie, but it's definitely not the way travel normally works, at least among mutually friendly nations. And even if it were, the question would be why? If they just want the revenue, let them be honest and charge a tourist fee. (Same should apply for U.S. treatment of foreign visitors, naturally.)

  7. I posted this on a Roll Call forum but since that cruise (early 2017) is still a long time away I place it here in hopes that some travelers might have observations to offer. Not looking for controversy, just helpful commentary! Thanks.

    I'm seriously considering this cruise (Rio to Santiago) but will likely wait a while to see what might happen with the pricing. And as much as I would like to see Brazil, I dread the thought of the hassle and wasted expense of obtaining a visa. Why would any nation that values tourism place such a burden on its prospective visitors? Especially with the Olympics being held there next year.

  8. We will be on the June 3 Island Princess voyage out of Barcelona and, curiously, that cruise does not have a terminal listed in the "port information" section on our Personalizer. Other cruises are specifically listed by ship and date. I am confident we can find the ship as long as it is somewhere on the shores of Spain, but does anyone have a possible explanation to offer. (Tell me to call Princess if you like, but I do have a serious aversion to voice mail horrors.) Thanks!

  9. From the official document linked through Princess website:

    This benefit is available to shareholders holding a minimum of 100 shares of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc. Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer.

  10. I see on the Princess website that the on-board credits available to shareholders do not apply to "reduced-rate fares." Someone please tell me what they mean by that. Surely not everyone who gets a lower fare through a travel agent is disqualified? Just curious. Thanks.

  11. I'm resurrecting this old question because I never saw an actual answer to it, and I'm also wondering about this cabin -- which I understand is now ranked BZ (formerly BH, I think) and partially obstructed. A few years ago I was in this same cabin and there was no obstruction at all. So what's happened? Someone please help solve this little mystery. Thanks.
