  1. On the TA rebate question we are in Australia and our US TA always rebates a large OBC against our cruise price which is great for us paying in Aussie $. We used to get sent a cheque which was useless as we lost so much in the conversion and OBC we find hard to spend as we don’t tend to book ships excursions or gamble, so large OBC amounts are hard to use. Rebating against our cruise price works very well for us.

  2. FlightMedic, thank you so much for posting about the OBC for new/old bookings. We were able to add this to our booking for next April so very happy about that. It’s our 25th wedding anniversary so that’s a nice massage or bottle of bubbles to celebrate. Cheers Wendy

Joan, we got lemon drops each day in Spirits using included liquors and they were great!

  4. We had Ernest on our Quest trip in May and he did a great job. We had only travelled with Russ once, and he was the consummate CD, so sad to lose him but great he can have a quieter more relaxed time over with S.

  5. Yes it does look like evisas are now good for each port we are visiting in February so so much easier and cheaper then the other.

On the Indian visa website they acknowledge that they were having huge problems processing people so this has prompted the changes, so let’s hope that’s the case!

  6. GPS, I agree with you about time to fit in 3 chefs table dinners when you have free speciality dining. We did 10 days in the med and with our fave window buffet nights, two dinners each in Aqualina and Prime C both delicious, plus White Nights plus a wonderful brunch one day which fills you up for the day, we couldn’t fit in one! It is a lovely way to meet people though if you can handle all the food, which we find difficult as there are just so many courses. The meet and mingle which will probably be on the first sea day is another great way to meet up with fellow travellers and can also lead to some nice get togethers.

We always travel on our own and have never had a problem meeting fellow travellers who are great fun.

  7. Hi again Silby, just looked at Mike Ball and it looks really interesting even though we aren’t divers they also do snorkel trips that look very interesting. Your 30th should be good on MB too.

We are also celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary next year on PG so looks like it’s a popular venue for celebrations.

    Cheers Wendy

  8. Thank you Silby, lovely review and one we found interesting as we have our first PG cruise next year. Did you do any PG excursions and if so which ones. Where Is Le Lizard Juane restaurant? We’re staying at the Hilton precruise and wonder if they’d pick up from there, or is it west of the IC making it a bit less acceptable for pick up for us. Many thanks Wendy

  9. The best place for sail away is outside Windows Cafe on the back deck, also good for predinner drinks. Love the first night buffet in Windows its often a seafood one.

The new Patio bbq area for lunch or dinner was fabulous and very underused in May in the med when it was cool, especially at night.

Both speciality restaurants are fabulous, Aqualina for seafood (but you can get steak and other things) and next door Prime C for steak and more meat orientated meals.

They also have a Chefs Table (French, Italian, etc) several of them each cruise with paired wines $95US pp.

If you’re interested in dining in any of the specialities book as soon as you get on board, and sometimes they have booking available before boarding on the dock! Times book out quickly.

White nights is wonderful and I’d agree about Azamazing nights, some excellent some ordinary. Benoa on your cruise had very favourable reports from friends who were on last year.

Great room service, love breakfast on the balcony. Great fresh orange juice and pick me up get me going shots in Windows at breakfast!

Fabulous, happy staff make you feel welcome and cared for.

Drinks and canapés in the Lounge Room before dinner is also a new addition for us last cruise.

Hope that helps from fellow cruisers in December, cheers Wendy and David

  10. Hi MM, we are now missing Broome and Exmouth so have three sea days between Komodo and Geraldton where we have an overnight, not a great exchange for Broome. Been there and can’t say we found it riveting! Then a couple of great ports south of Perth, Bunbury and Busselton, so a great gateway to Margaret river. Already booked a day tour to wineries there. Bunbury will be a wander to the markets. Unfortunately as we’re there in December all the Dolphin eco tours and things are not showing up but might on the ships excursions. So quite good alternatives from our point of view as havent been to these southern WA towns. So all good!
