  1. We're doing a round trip on MSC Fantasia from Barbados in January 2018, and were having similar thoughts.

Our flight departs either 17:30 or 19:20, depending on whether we fly to Gatwick or Heathrow - and the transfers from the ship to Barbados airport are included as part of the MSC package.

Although we've had a cruise stop in Barbados before, we only did a catamaran excursion, so don't feel we actually saw anything of the island.

Does anyone know if MSC offer any excursions terminating at the airport? And if so, which ones, and what the timings are - as we'd really like to visit the Concorde Experience too. Is this possible?

  2. We flew from the domestic airport not far from BA cruise port (airport code AEP) to Argentinian side of Iguazu falls (airport code IGR) several years ago. Flight was less than 2 hrs and cost was low. We flew with LAN airlines, but Aeroleneas Argentinas also do this route.

We spent a couple of nights on Argentinian side and enjoyed a fabulous walk around the falls, out on boardwalk etc. Many birds, butterflies and coatis to be seen.

We then took a taxi across border to Brazilian side and visited falls from this side. Good views and monkeys to be seen. Then we flew from airport on Brazilian side of falls to Sao Paulo with TAM airlines I think.

We loved the falls, especially Argentinian side and wished we'd stayed longer.

We went February and enjoyed clear views, hot weather and abundant falls. In fact boat trips were cancelled on falls due to high water levels.

Hope your trip is as amazing as ours was.

  3. Were here in January last time on a cruise. Went to Carara National Park but really disappointed by lack of wildlife...just leafcutter ants. Is there any chance of seeing a sloth? We're going November this time.

Has anyone tried NCL excursions Scarlet Macaws Sanctuary & Puntarenas Sightseeing OR Aerial Tram & Rainforest Adventure OR Botanical Gardens Pura Vida?

    Any recommendations/highlights?

  4. Trying to decide between two NCL excursions - Local Markets & Panorama OR Highlights of Lima.

Never been to Lima before. Prefer to see a few things in depth rather than a drive by. Would like to go to a local market.

Has anyone been on these trips? Would you recommend? What was highlight?

  5. We'll be sailing on Eurodam from Barcelona to Venice on 30 May and are currently looking at booking a few non cruise line excursions.

We"ve cruised quite a bit before but never with HAL.

Any ideas how long before sailing times you need to be back on board? Has anyone had recent HAL experience in the Med?

  6. We also try not to do ships tours due to cost and lack of flexibility with itineraries, but did 3 of my favorite Celebrity excursions on this cruise a couple of years ago. (We did the Canal in reverse, San Diego to Fort Lauderdale, during January.)

Cartagena ~ Mud Volcano & Scenic Drive. Felt very safe on this tour, though we did have an armed policeman on the coach who also waited for us at the bottom of mud volcano. The volcano was loads of fun. Check out numerous clips on youtube. Regret not going into the walled city in Cartagena though..

Colon ~ Embera Indian Culture. Quite a long trip on a canoe, and quite hairy at times, but well worth it. Saw plenty of the canal and locks from Celebrity Century, so didn't feel the need to see more on an excursion.

Puerto Vallarta ~ ATV Off Road Adventure. Great fun and included tequilla tasting afterwards.

FYI, we also had an armed policeman on our Celebrity trip to Antigua and Coffee Plantation in Guatemala.

Hope you have a fantastic cruise, whatever you decide to do!

  7. Thanks. Just received our tickets. You were right, 3 and a British theme night. :)

The last time we did a Fred cruise there were 3 theme nights so we went out and bought something for each one only to find out no one else seemed to make the effort and there was nothing different going on in the restaurant or show to reflect the theme. Is this still the case or should we sort out something red white and blue just in case?

  8. Hi.. we'll be in Grand Cayman on Christmas Day 2014 and I was wondering the same things you were. How did your excursion go? Did you notice if most things were indeed closed? Anything you could share would be really helpful!

    Thanks

Sorry I can't help you much as our itinerary was changed at the last minute so we ended up spending a fabulously relaxing Christmas day tubing down a river in Jamaica instead.

Christmas eve was spent in Grand Cayman and everything seemed to be open. We did a combination ship organised tour to the turtle farm (OK), Hell (great for a few photos and to send postcards from Hell), then took a small boat to the stingrays - amazing! The small boat worked really well as each family/friends group got the chance to have a photoshoot with stingrays. The captain's wife took some fabulous pictures which we couldn't have got on our own - but they did come at a cost... still wouldn't want to forget that once in a lifetime experience.

We had plenty of time for shopping in port afterwards.

Hope you find something amazing to do Christmas day. Have a great time!
