  1. I just booked the Adventure for our 2014 cruise!!! Going to do a B2B in November 2014 (11/23/14 and 11/30/14).

I've been researching everything I could find and this thread has helped a lot.

Also a big thanks to Norberts Niece for giving me the link to her B2B on the Adventure. Great reading!!!

Now the big decision is we want to enjoy San Juan for a few days so we have to decide if we are going to fly in a couple of days early or stay a few days afterwards. Once airfares come out, I guess that will help me decide.

  2. Ye who lack the experience of finding otu one day that they are Parrotheads....have faith your day will come!

As for Falmouth....love those reviews that say it stinks! We have been there several times, last time found a truly wonderful little beach 15 minutes away. The Jerk Chicken was truly a religious experience.

So remember, when one person trashes a port, any port, take the comment witha grain of salt...salt, where's the d*** salt, sorry had to slip in a little Jimmy B. The odds are they got off the ship, walked around for 30 minutes, then ran back to the ship to hide in their cabin.

One other time, we made best friends for the day with a guy selling red label, sat and listened to reggie for an afternoon....one particular harbor...darn, I did it again!

I guess non-Parrotheads just don't get it. Being a Parrothead for many, many years, I will be enjoying the music and atmosphere at Margaritaville when I am in Jamaica in December!!!!!!!

  3. Thanks for all the information everyone. I really appreciate the help I get from fellow CC'ers.

The long walk does not bother me, helps me loose some of the weight I know I will be gaining.

I'll have to remember to come back and put some pictures and information into this thread when I am back. I did a search and there was not much information on here about this room.

    Thanks again, :D

  4. Thanks for the replies so far.

The long walk doesn't bother us. We love the aft cabins on the Voyager class as we have had 2 of those.

I was just a little worried about the noise, but we are usually up late anyway so I don't think it will be a problem. Just wish we could get it for both weeks of our B2B. It is only available for our second week and I am seriously thinking of switching to it.

  5. I'm sure someone out there in CC land has had this cabin. It is the last boardwalk balcony on deck 12.

    1) Can you see the aqua theater from the balcony?

    2) Is there any noise from the "secret" balcony?

    3) Is there any noise from the boardwalk late at night?

We gave a chance to switch to this cabin and really want to try it.

Any and all information on this cabin would be appreciated!!!!

  6. My wife and I are looking at booking the Adventure of the Seas on a B2B for November/December 2014. We will be cruising with my dad and his friend. They are both D+ so we are looking at booking a Grand Suite so we can join them in the consierge lounge. I'm sure there are subtle differences in some of the Grand Suites. Does anyone one have a favorite Grand Suite? We have always booked on the hump or aft for our other cruises. Our upcoming Allure B2B we have a cabin just aft of the hump. Just looking for some good information.

    Thanks everyone for looking!!!!

  7. Yes - supposedly open until December. As mentioned before, rumor has it that they are planning on building it.

I thought the option that was open until December was for a fourth Oasis class ship? I haven't heard of any option yet of a 4th Quantum class ship.

  8. I am wondering now, are the ones in the pictures the "over the water" cabanas or the "beach" cabanas. I reserved a "beach" cabana and am starting to wonder if these are even one of the ones I can get? I saw another picture somewhere in these forums that showed the "beach" cabanas in behind the loungers in the sand.

Can anyone give me an idea where the "beach" cabanas actually are?

  9. Bill, If I may hijack this for a moment to ask a question... Has anyone used the ships laundry services? Do you get the items back next day or is it 2 days? Trying to decide if it's worth it to use or not. :D

Good question, since we are doing a B2B and flying to Florida, so we have to watch how much clothes we bring. I am sure we will be using the laundry services on board.

  10.

I actually applied for a 911 operator's job once, but didn't get it, but this was the 2nd time in my life I've called 911 and gotten a STUPID operator. That statement may anger some people as I'm sure most of these people are great at their job, but we were about to be disappointed with the emergency services in that area. I hope they review the tape but I was fairly calm and tried to give the operator clear concise information. Here is the call to the best of my recollection.

OPERATOR: 911 what is your emergency?

Me: There has been a pedestrian/bicycle collision on the 17th St Bridge. A lady has been hit, has a head injury and is bleeding, we need an ambulance. We are on the sidewalk on the north side of the bridge

911: She was riding a bike?

Me: No She was walking and was hit by a bicycle.

911: Was she driving a car?

Me: No she was walking and was hit by a bike.

911: What direction was she traveling on the bike?

I am a 911 dispatcher and I just have to put my 2 cents in here. Most of the public don't understand what goes on when they call 911. If it is a medical emergency, auto accident, bicycle accident, pedestrian struck, etc... we use what is called EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch). There are scripted questions that we HAVE to ask, otherwise we get in trouble. Yes, some of the questions seem insignificant, but they do help us send the correct response of help. Not all calls get an ambulance and a medic responding lights and sirens. Some just get an ambulance responding with lights and sirens and some get an ambulance non emergency. I have been a dispatcher for 16 years so I understand where you are coming from. But please understand, unless you have done it from the other side of the phone, don't just say the dispatcher was stupid. We have rules and regulations that we must follow and they might not always make sense.

Ok, sorry to go on about that. I really am enjoying your review. I have been planning our Allure cruise for over 500 days, and we are now at 201 days. I am a planner when it comes to our cruises and hope to get some good information from you. Thanks for taking the time to do a review.

  11. Seems to me that if you want to be on the net all day it would be cheaper to just stay home.

Do gadgets really run your life?

I usually get the lower wifi package plus get the global data plan for my phone. Due to my work in emergency management, I need to stay in contact with people. I wish I could just turn it off when I am away, but I can't.

  12.

If you're talking "where to " as far as my Red Cross work, I never know...until it hits. Sometimes I have only 3 hours notice to pack for 3 weeks and go. :( I'm not sure if I'll be heading to the NE; it depends on how many power outages there are and how widespread (any) damage is. I'm hoping it's not bad...but I'm not sure.

Just found your review as I was reading another Allure review. My DW and I are booked on a B2B on the Allure for the end of November - beginning of December.

Love all the information that you gave and I took tons of notes.

I am a 911 dispatcher and a volunteer fireman so I have had lots of contact with the Red Cross at scenes. I would like to take this time to thank YOU for your service as a Red Cross Volunteer. Most people don't realize the hard work you folks do at the scenes of disasters, but I have and it is not easy work. I for one really appreciate your service. THANK YOU! :)

  13. Ok, so what haven't you seen?...here are a few still left in the "photo bucket":

(Towel monkey- you must see the towel monkey, just cause they bring such joy!)

    149870667.jpg

Our favorite art work in the level 7 stairwell- laughing buddahs whenever I had time to think about the week my home city was having I would look at these guys and realize it would be ok...good karma would be restored, and before we left, the bad guys were off the streets and most people were already fighting their way back to good health!!)

    149870671.jpg

(Balloon dog- there are always Boardwalk events- pirate days, balloon animals, face painting, it's free and it's in the compass, they even "take" teens!)

Thank you for one of the better reviews I have read. Like I said before, love your style.

Thanks for making my day today. I don't think I could have made it through the day without a picture of the "hanging monkey"!! Loved the laughing buddas also. And you said "they even take teens" how about adults? My wife would love a balloon animal.

  14.

With the kids sleeping in till almost 11 on most sea days, we realized our previously booked "chocolate" breakfast with the DreamWorks characters was not going to happen at 8 AM. I'm sure it would have been fun when they were 6 and 8, but at 16 and 18, it was silly for me to think I could book that and we would actually make it!! (in other words, no one was in the mood to "move it, move it" at 8 AM!)

I dont' know about that. My wife and I got up to see them on Freedom of the Seas last year. We really enjoyed it. In fact, we are going to book it when we do the Allure later this year.

Can I ask a favor please??? On a couple of the days when you posted the Cruise Compass, you did not include the morning and afternoon activities. I am trying to put a bit of a schedule together for our upcoming cruise and it would help me out. Thanks in advance if you can post them.

Really loving your review. It is getting me all excited to be on the Allure. I love your sense of humor and how you tell it like it is.

  15. Ok this is kind of a silly question, but is "spiked coffee" included? I don't drink much coffee on vacation, but when we had the drink package on Carnival it was nice to have a good irish coffee on a couple mornings! It was kind of a loop hole on there-we were able to get specialty coffee included w/ a little pick me up in there ;)

From reading another thread about the drink packages, someone said if you like the "spiked coffee", just order a coffee and a shot, then add it yourself. Guess that would work.

  16. So, this is why my back to back cruise I had already paid for got screwed up. I had book this cruise back in June along with the 4 night following this one. Back in August this cruise disappeared from my reservation and it took me 2 weeks to finally get an answer from Royal Caribbean. Ended up changing to the Navigator of the Seas so I wouldn't have to pay to change my airfare. It was going to cost me $450 to change my flights and Royal Caribbean would only give me $200 for the inconvenience. I ended up getting $100 on board credit plus got to keep my $50 obc from the WOW sale I had. So, it didn't end up to bad.
