  1. Thank you for the review as I haven't seen one as informative since the COVID days. My wife and I

are booked on the Magic Jan. 13, 2024 southern cruise. I've been writing on the Roll Call site for several months now and was surprised to see very few others involved. There seems to be very little excitement. We were beginning to get concerned about "current cruises" as we haven't been on a ship

in 4 years after 16 previous CCL trips. The Magic is getting older now and was glad it appears to be in

good condition.......to the left, to the left, to the right, to the right, - can't wait!

  2. Tried to find the answer to this by searching but wasn't able to make determination......

Will be cruising on the Magic on January 13, 2024. Have yet to return to cruising since the Covid days. The specialty dining menu indicates that

Cucina del Capitano, (the Italian Restaurant) is open for dinner for a fee. Back in the days, those ships with this restaurant were available to dine

in for lunch for free, although a different menu. Is this still available, or dinner for fee only?

  3. Hi......About 2 years ago I booked an 8 night cruise on the Horizon leaving April 30, 2022 under the "Cheers" RU1, promo. I used a travel agent.

Long story short, due to the CDC guidelines and everything related to Covid as well as being a recent survivor of a triple bypass heart surgery,

my wife and I decided to postpone our trip prior to final payment which is January 25. I anticipated a $50 pp penalty and a $400 Future Cruise Certificate.

My TA told me he spoke to CCL who advised that I would loose my deposit and they would not offer a FCC in that I booked under the Cheers' promo.

I can't find it anywhere. The deposit is non refundable but I'm not asking for one. I will not pay the final payment. Don't need a lecture but Any suggestions?

  4. Sid.....been following your entire journey and it was just like being on the boat. Been on 16 CCL

cruises and never had a bad time. I've often wonder about taking a solo cruise but I think I'd be

miserable. Been married for 40 years and without someone telling me what to do and when to do it

I'd probably just sit in the room. That was a joke.....

My last cruise almost 2 years ago was very thought provoking. I thought I too was burned out on cruising but after being away for COVID I miss it terribly. Hopefully my next cruise, the Horizon on

April 30, 2022 will reinvigorate my desires.

    Thanks for taking me along.....

  5. We usually fly into and out of Miami.....The odds are you will make it IF the stars align; then there's the but.....if you're anything like me, it's not worth the risk. I started worrying about it on Friday for a Sunday

debarkation. Saturday I was a basket case....Sunday morning I was awake well before we docked. I was stressed out watching the lines being secured and then got more anxious when the Cruise Director wasn't making debarking announcements......We finally got the message to go and low and behold, there was the Customs lines to deal with.......Made it through Customs after the passengers before us got held up declaring or rather not declaring purchases.....out to the Taxi line for another wait and finally we were on our way to the airport.......the line to check in our luggage was wrapped around a few aisles but we got that done and it was off to the TSA lines which were packed due to all the ships having arrived and folks going home.....well, we made it to the gate and had about 10 minutes prior to boarding.......So, we made it and you probably will as well BUT, I swore that day that I would never put myself, my wife, my heart and my nerves through that unnecessary ordeal ever again. Especially loosing the enjoyment of the last few days of cruising... The moral of the story is change your flight and live to enjoy another cruise in peace........Good Luck!

  6. I too am a retired Law enforcement officer but on the east coast. I agree with your assessment.

It was a dangerous situation for all involved. Could it be that they hide under the veil of international waters? The liability for them is huge if anything occurred in US waters.

CCL needs to revisit how they handle domestic incidents as well as basic assaults on their ships.

Just look at the incidents of violence occurring on airplanes. Everyone is ready, cocked and loaded these days ready to explode. I'll keep the politics out of this but when that's what you see on TV and it is encouraged by your leaders in government, the reluctance to look the other way or walk away is not at the forefront  of peoples minds.

We didn't get paid very well as police officers but today there is no amount of money that would convince me to wear the sacred badge again.

Thank you for bringing this issue to the front.......

  7. email guestadmin@ccl.com......they will connect you with the Special Services department who will

send you a form to fill out in case there is an emergency while at sea. There are reps at embarkment

who will get her a wheelchair if necessary. I can tell you from experience that that is not a fast way to

get on; they're aren't as many reps as assisted guests. Same issues with getting off.  If she is an athlete, she'll be better off hobbling her way around..... also be aware that most of your fellow cruisers

will ignore her needs and act as if she isn't there. Been there, got the t-shirt, and got knocked down by

another passenger who had to get into a particular elevator........

  8. We've been on 15 cruises; 14 regular balcony cabins and 1 cove cabin. That alone should give you a feel for what we think.......The cove balcony was more secluded; if we were young and wild, that might have been a good thing but it wasn't. Different view of ports, very shady, very wet. Everything we put out was wet. We booked a cove away from the gallery; apparently you can't get too far from the galley.

Last, everything else was far away.......especially the Lido deck.

It was slightly cheaper but we'll never book a cove cabin again.

  9. Been there, got the T-shirt from my TA. I too had a hold on the lower fare and was told the category was sold out sooooooo......I called the 800 number and set up a PIN number for my cruise on hold. I then sent my TA a copy of the hold with the lower fare and my PIN number. TA called CCL back gave them the hold info & PIN and just like that the hold as removed and my fare was reduced. Don't take no for an answer. Neither the TA nor the cruise line want to lower your fare BUT they make the rules so play the game!......Best of Luck!

  10. Yes, I was comparing aft cabin on 8th floor to same exact cabin on the sixth floor. Today I relinquished the cabin I put on hold after my fare, which was way early saver, was credited with the reduction.

The purpose of my thread was to advise others to double check when denied a request because mistakes do happen. The travel agency I'm dealing with said that they don't have the capability of doing a fare reduction without going through CCL first. At any rate, mission accomplished. As soon as my category is full, I will no longer request reductions but CCL sets the rules and they should be required to adhere by their own rules. I disagree that a TA gets nothing from assisting with price reductions. They gain me as a repeat customer and therefore future commissions.......

  11. We are booked on the Horizon for an April 2022 8 night cruise. I don't remember the date I booked but I do remember it was 449 days away due to the

COVID mess. Anyway, I booked through an online travel agency that is very generous.

Today was the second time I did a "mock booking" and found that the rate for my category had been reduced. On both occasions, I sent the information to my travel agent with a screen shot of the reduction. Just like the first reduction, I received an email stating that the agency had contacted CCL and the category I was booked under was full, therefore no reduction would be awarded. After receiving the emails, I went online and lo and behold, both times it showed a cabin available. Both times I placed a "hold" on the open cabin and sent the "hold" information to the travel agency in hopes of them being able to contact CCL, show the hold, and get my reductions. Both times this worked.

The question is......who do you think provided the inaccurate information.....the travel agency or the rep answering the phones at CCL?

The moral of the story is don't give up.....try and try again when you know you are right and "demand" that CCL plays by their own rules......

After writing and reading this, it's a good thing I'm retired.....it took a lot of time to save $120.00 bucks! lol! Bon Voyage......

  12. We're booked on the ABC itinerary on April 30, 2022 on the Horizon from Miami. This will be our

17th CCL cruise so the ship is more of the destination for us. This is a sea day extensive voyage; 8 days with only 3 ports. So, if you enjoy ship time you might consider this itinerary.

If you decide to join us, please say hello on board....I'm a bald white guy with a mustache.

Easy peasy, lol! Seriously, I'll be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

  13. Very sorry to hear this news. We've never met but have a full understanding of your pain and disappointment. I received a spinal cord injury while working undercover for the US DOJ and have

undergone 14 surgeries. During these times we were forced to cancel multiple cruises. As the injured party, it was very disappointing but the true hurt came when the ability to get a break from life was taken from my DW who is also my caretaker. Being a caretaker is the most under recognized job out there. It takes a very special person to take on that role and I thank God everyday that my wife is willing to sacrifice in order to insure my needs are met. She usually needs a vacation more than me.

    Bless you both..........

  14. You make it sound so easy yet the passengers on the cruise after you will spend considerable time contacting guest services to get a repairman to the cabin because their TV won't work properly

and you'll be on your way home.

For the sake of all of us who are techno-challenged, please ensure the TV is back to the way you found it before you leave the ship.

    Been there.....got the T-shirt! Thanks!
