1. Yes, after you go thru security, an agent will look at your Xpress pass. Make sure you print it out and bring it with you. From that point forward, Celebrity will take good care of you. :) Enjoy your cruise and Michael's Lounge.

At Cape Liberty, this occurred well before security. Actually, it was right after we dropped off luggage and were moving towards the LONG security line.

  2. Upon arrival and, if so, is the signage for this area prominently displayed when you pull up by car? We're being dropped off and wondered where to unload luggage (if this is offered).

Sailing with a toddler and hope to avoid chaos as much as possible.:). Thanks for any head's up....

We sailed in a Sky Suite on the July 13th voyage of the Summit. After we dropped off luggage with everyone else, a Celebrity rep looked at our Express Pass and said 'come with me.' We bypassed everyone else and were taken down the left-hand side of the security area and had no wait to get through a dedicated security checkpoint.

After that, we were directed around a curtain to a separate check-in area with, I believe, 4 agents. They processed us very quickly and then stopped briefly to have an embarkation photo made, then out the door to board the shuttle. Very short ride to the Summit.

I would think there might be more escorting/handholding for RS/PH guests. The Summit hosted a very nice brunch at embarkation for suite guests. We broke our normal routing of eating that lunch at Bistro on 5. It was a nice way to begin a fun trip to Bermuda!

  3. Has anyone had any experiences with the Sky Suites on deck #12? Are they noisy?

We had 2115 on last fall's Equinox westbound transatlantic and had no noise complaints. 2115 is located just below the entrance/beginning to the Oceanview Cafe and is not below the area that experiences all of the movement you traditionally hear when someone complains about the noise.

The overhang was nice as it made the balcony useable all the time!

  4. I wonder if its because I'm in the UK

That might be the reason, but you would think that area would forward the inquiry to the correct customer service area for the UK... just not respond and keep you hanging!

  5. As for a cruise after a transatlantic crossing the fact it might take an hour extra or 2 to board wouldn't stop me doing a cruise neither would I be bothered by new crew joining as that happens at a lot of ports if it fit with what I want & when I want to go then surely that's the main reason for going!!

    Absolutely!

Our frustration stemmed from trying to get through eveything and make a (somewhat) early flight. There are really no kind words to express how bleak the immigration process was following the Equinox westbound transatlantic crossing this past December.

When we do another transatlantic, and we will... we will just schedule a later flight. After all, waiting at the airport is why Sky Clubs were created. ;)

  6. contactmichael@celebrity.com

not sure how much luck you'll have I've emailed a few times over the last 2-3 weeks now, and not had any response at all - only the standard auto reply saying emails will be dealt with in turn - all I can say is after this long, they must have lots of emails to wade through if it's taking that long.

That's the e-mail address I used when I was requesting information prior to our last cruise.

Received the standard 'we received your e-mail' response and then received a phone call from Katilee Jones, in Mr. Bayley's office. Very nice lasdy and I enjoyed the conversation we had. Also received an e-mail follow-up from her with some additional information related to my initial inquiry.

    It does work...

  7. Just curious, did you see any kids in shorts??

    Yes.

We were on the July 13th sailing of the Summit to Bermuda and saw a number of kids wearing shorts to dinner. These were on the smart casual nights as we opted not to take formal wear and did Qsine and Normandy on formal evenings.

The shorts rule was definitely being enforced on say, teenagers and up. However, there was an older special needs gentleman that we noticed they also allowed into the dining room in shorts. I believe they just did not want to call attention to him, and allowed him to enter without issue.

  8. Can some one tell me where the chocolates in Cafe al Bacio are? I don't think I've ever noticed them. Do you have to ask for them? Thanks.

The servers on the Summit were good about bringing the box around and offering them. You could also ask for them at the counter. They are petite, very thin pieces of chocolate in a variety of flavors.

  9. Now really, Celebrity? You have to cut corners so close that there aren't pennies per night for pieces of chocolate?

We had chocolate covered oreos on each of our pillows every night on our recent Summit cruise to Bermuda. Not bad at all, the time or two I tried them.

Hard to beat the small chocolates at Cafe al Bacio!

  10. What is sometimes an issue is immigration. You have many nationalities all coming to the US and often crew members are getting off as well. I have heard that these voyages can take longer to disembark, which means that the new passengers might not be able to get on as early as usual. So yes- I would suggest doing the following cruise rather than the one arriving from Europe.

    BINGO!

We sailed on the westbound Equinox transatlantic this past fall and disembarkation was lengthy and no fun at all. A friend that also cruised with us reminded me that the government slowdown was also occurring during that time, so I'm betting that had an impact as well. Not sure how delayed embarkation was that day...

  11. Glad you had a good trip. I leave In 5 weeks. Can you tell me who your 54 below performer was?

I believe the TENORS OF ROCK will be on while 54 BELOW takes some time off. I do not recall the change date, but the Tenors SHOULD NOT be missed; they put on a FANTASTIC performance on our July 13th sailing!

  12. I've heard that Celebrity will give you an OBC on your present cruise if you book another one while onboard. Any idea if this is true. Also if you book this way, will you still get to take advantage of the specials and "deals" out there. Just wondering if this is a good idea.

We took advantage of this while on the Summit last week. We booked a British Isles cruise for August 2015 and got to pick 2 of the 123Go offers... plus, they gave us the amount of our deposit, $350, as an immediate OBC to use on the Summit. We already had existing OBC, so we did not go through all of the extra $350. The amount of OBC remaining was credited back to my credit card.

    Nice deal!

  13.
Non formal nights, show is at 7 and 9, timed for before dinner for late MDR seating, and after dinner for early MDR seating.

Formal nights its 8:30 and 10:30, timed for "after dinner" for all.
We just returned from the July 13th sailing on the Summit and I do not have all of the dailies from that cruise, but do know that the shows on the second formal night were at 7pm and 9pm... and I believe they were the same on the first formal night. We ate in Qsine on the second formal night and had reservations at 8:30pm. Went to the show at 7pm and then on to dinner afterwards.

Made it home with almost every copy of the USA TIMES that our butler brought to our room, but missing a couple issues of the CELEBRITY TODAY.
  14. Someone mentioned on another board that the Sunset Bar was no smoking on the Constllation on his cruise. Do you know if smoking has been banned at the Sunset Bar on the Summit? I am hoping this policy carries throughout the M class ships since it is a very small space and the smoke drifts. We have never been able to enjoy this venue because of the smoke problem.

We were on the July 13th sailing of the Summit and smoking was allowed on the PORT side of the Sunset Bar. To be honest, it never bothered us on the STARBOARD side... nor when we sat directly at the bar. That bar is a great venue!

  15. Thanks!! Did ya'll enjoy the Summit? Our November cruise will be our first on a M class ship.

We were in the same boat (maybe a little pun intended) when we took this cruise. All of our previous Celebrity cruises had been on S-class ships. We enjoyed the M-class design. There were certain things we preferred on the S-class, but there were also advantages to the M-class. We had Sky Suite 6145, adjacent to the Penthouse Suite and, as I had already read here, it was pretty awesome.

I hope you'll enjoy the Summit too!

  16. Can any recent travelers on the Summit please tell me what type of furniture is on the balconies? Standard and Concierge. Is it the brown wooden table and gray reclining chairs like the S class ships? Just wondered if they changed the furniture when the did the dry-dock in 2012.

    Thanks:)

We just returned from the Summit, where we were in a Sky Suite. We had a table and 2 chairs on the right side of the balcony... and 2 loungers on the left side. The table chairs had heavy duty brown weave and the loungers were the new blue ones like around the pool area.

    Nice comfortable setup.

  17. WIll be there next week during the Cricket Cup match thing. Horsehoe on Wednesday is sure to be busy since the beach is a beach party thurs and fri, right?

I know Coco will be quieter, but also more $.

Horseshoe has chairs and umbrellas, right? How much?

    What say the cruise critics?

We have 3 days and we arent looking to shop or shlep around much. This trip is all about putting our feet up and relaxing as much as we can.

We were in Bermuda last week aboard the Celebrity Summit and reserved day passes at the Coco Reef Resort before leaving home. Everything worked out great and we really enjoyed our day there.

We planned our visit for our second day in Bermuda and left around 9:00 AM on the ferry to Hamilton. We had a transportation pass, but when we exited the ferry on Front Street, we just grabbed a cab and ditched the No. 7 bus; it was a quick trip!

Everyone we encountered at the resort was very nice. When we checked in and paid at the front desk, they inquired as to how many towels we would like and gave us our vouchers for the lunches that came with our day passes. They gave us a general layout of the property and out we went.

We opted to sun at an area adjacent to the resort pool, but did go down to the beach more than once to walk around and enjoy the beautiful water and sand. The beach area directly behind the resort has lots of rocks, but if you walk towards the right side as you go down the steps, there is lots of smooth beach with the pretty pink sand. The only drawback I have concerns the condition of the steps. We did not feel unsafe walking down them, but both agreed that they should probably be rehabilitated after this season; they were a little creaky in places!

Just a great afternoon there and the lunch was good too. You could get a beer or wine, and then get your main course, while choosing if you preferred an appetizer or dessert. The fish chowder appetizer was really tasty... and they mixed a mean rum swizzle.

They have a gentleman on a golf cart that took us, and another couple also from our cruise ship, back to the bus stop... which is a little piece up the access road that the college and resort share. We caught the No. 7 bus to Gibbs Hill Lighthouse and then walked up to the lighthouse to enjoy the views and explore there. Afterwards, we walked back down to the Henry VIII Pub and enjoyed refreshments before grabbing the bus back to the Royal Naval Dockyard, where the Celebrity Summit was docked.

    Enjoy!

  18. Just off the Summit, where we were in a suite. We received the chocolate-covered oreos on both pillows, every night. Nothing really special about them, but I did eat one a night our two.

Totally agree with a previous poster about the nice chocolates in Cafe al Bacio... perfect!

  19. Found a link to 54 below's website. they do publish their ship entertainers:

    http://54below.com/celebrity-cruises/

We are also on the July 13th Summit sailing and had the absolute worst time trying to identify who might be performing from 54 Below this season. Frustration finally took its toll and I contacted Michael Bayley's office and had a nice conversation with Katilee Jones concerning it all.

Unfortunately, 54 Below is taking a break until later in the season, and a group called TENORS OF ROCK will be on our sailing.

TOR (Tenors of Rock) are the newest most exciting vocal group around. Formed with six of the best male rock voices around the result is a seriously high profile rock experience. The vocal range and harmonic complexity really pushes new boundaries and sets TOR apart from all other vocal groups. The music and current set list of TOR is truly diverse. The group use their unique and innovative sound to put their own twist on songs you know and love, including classic rock tracks such as Sweet Child O’ Mine and God Gave Rock N’ Roll To You. It is a truly unique experience to hear these songs sung like you have never heard them before.

Still looking forward to the cruise!

    Todd and Jonathan

  20. Why wait to upgrade to premium on the ship.

We are waiting until we are onboard as we have a very generous amount of OBC and will use that to upgrade to the Premium Beverage Package.

I've done it through my TA twice now so when i get on board I don't have to worry about it. Got a second glass of sparkling wine after we consumed the glass handed to us as we boarded. Great way to start the cruise!

It's definitely NOT a worry... actually, it's pretty painless. Any bar can handle it for you and it doesn't take much longer than ordering a beverage!

  21. The pound is outrageous! After our cruises that leaves Southampton on the 21st, we are not going to England again, not even for a cruise. Now there is a lux tax when you fly out in business class...I took Bermuda off my list and will do Europe from different ports.

Besides you sticking the word 'Bermuda' in there, what does your post have to do with a cruise to/from Bermuda???

  22. I am usually not unkind and have never posted a response like this before. So that being said...... While reading your review I found you seemed very demanding (making the Butler sit with you while you went over the list of "your needs" point by point along with other remarks. I have sailed on the Summit several times before and going again in June and have found a kind word to the waiter in Select Dining can speed up the pace of your meal if you want it brought quicker. Also kindness to the bartenders and a small tip always gets great service. Just my opinion.

I think YOU come across as the demanding one. You have obviously not sailed in one of the larger suites before... as it is pretty common to sit and discuss the features of the suite (and your needs/expectations) with the butler; whether this be at the dining room table or on the couch. It's a shame that you required clarification and felt the need to call the OP out on this! Just my opinion.
