  1. I know some previous posts have asked about what nights "Jersey Boys' and "Prohibition" are on the Bliss. I just was able to get a schedule for my cruise that's 120 days out.

JB is still on Wed. and Thurs. (days 5 and 6), but it looks like "Prohibition," which used to be the same days, is now on Day 1, 2, and 4 -- so from what I can gather they have added another day for the show and it's now on different nights than JB.

I like that better, because I want to make sure I see both.

the drinks are served in proper glasses, Mule is served in the traditional copper mug, they are not strong drinks. We enjoyed the show & saw it twice at $19.95, when the price went to $29.95, we didn't think it was worth it. Show is about an hour long, fun, it's set in a brothel - so not for the kids. The actors come out and talk to the audience before the show, the only passengers brought up on stage were people who talked to them pre-show. We were also told the concierge lets the show know which Haven guests would be fun.

Thank you for the feedback. When I said Dixie cup, I meant that size, not an actual Dixie cup. Boy, that would be tacky! lol

I think we are going to go. It looks fun!

  3. I agree with the other posters. I don't have celiac but a pretty bad gluten sensitivity -- as in extreme headaches, fatigue and an overall terrible feeling if I eat anything with gluten. NCL is excellent in accommodating special diets.

I eat lunch at the buffet every day, but since I'm a vegetarian, I just have salad and fruit, which obviously is safe. Oil and vinegar dressing. However, a couple of times I've wanted a sandwich, and the buffet server will go to where they keep GF food and bring back bread that's kept separate from other foods.

Also -- a warning about the nachos. Usually nachos don't bother me, as they are GF. On the Getaway a few years ago, I had nachos one night, and felt "glutened" the next day. I was OK by afternoon, so didn't make a connection. Had more nachos for a snack late afternoon and by that night I got all the usual symptoms except worse. I know it was the nachos, because I didn't have any after that and was fine the next day and the duration of the cruise. I have never had nachos again on an NCL cruise after that experience -- I figure even if they are GF, there was something causing that reaction in me. You might want to be very careful with nachos on NCL.

Boarding November 3rd as well. Thanks for the review.

You mentioned that Prohibition is now $35.95?? The website under our reservation still shows $29.99 so why do I have a feeling we will also end up paying $35.95 as opposed to the $29.99 on the website. Bummer.  I think we are gonna pass on the show as well. Not a fan of getting pulled up on stage anyways.

Ugh,  I hadn't heard the getting pulled up on stage part. Hate that kinda stuff. Do you have any more info on what the chances are of that happening? We were considering going.

  5. The time for us to reserve entertainment for our March cruise will soon be at hand. We wanted to see Prohibition, but the price keeps going up. I also read they pull people up on stage, and I am not a fan of any "surprises."

Looking for feedback from those who have seen it. Also wondering what size the five drink samples are. I'm guessing Dixie cups, but would love to hear more.

  6. How much does NCL charge for shuttle from Canaveral to Orlando? I saw one private shuttle company but the last shuttle is 10:00. I wanted to leave later than that since our flight is not until 2:00.

Another option is to hire your own car or van service, which can be more affordable if there are several people in your party. Many car services offer transport between MCO and the port. and you have the convenience of being picked up exactly when you want and not having to deal with multiple airline dropoffs at the airport.

We've done this a couple of times.

  7. My son has some of the same concerns. The sports court was a great way to get exercise. He likes to keep fit - no sports court and cannot use the gym as he is only 15.

He will just have to keep running up the stairs at the water slide .

It is a bit of a shame that there is now no place or activity to get some fitness on the ship for teens.

FYI, I have never seen the age rule at the gyms on NCL enforced in the many, many times I've been there. THere are always kids well under the age limit there and as long as they behave, no one does anything.

I've also been taking my daughter with me to the gym since she's been about 12. If an adult is with him no one will say a thing.

  8. thank you, everyone! We go on a new ship almost every March, so always during high season, and I've never encountered this before, except last year on MSC Seaside, but I was booking in late Nov.

Went on inaugural seasons of Getaway and Escape and had no problem with a wide selection of availability.

I usually like to wait until Thanksgiving because there are some good perks out there, but looks like I might have to bite the bullet and reserve.

  9. I'm looking to sail on the Bliss 3/9/19. There is nothing left for balconies but GTY cabins (and Sail Away, which I'm not interested in). I've sailed NCL 3x on new ships and never encountered that this far out? Would this indicate most cabins are booked?

I checked and inside cabins are the same, only GTY left, while mini-suites, it's either GTY or, for about $350 more, you can choose a location. I'm wondering if I should book now or wait to see if this changes.

  10. I was there about 10 years ago....Alot of people like to call it a "mud hole"...LOL. I know their are several docks but my recollection is that the ships are all within eyesight. So just tell the driver the name of your ship and he will be there. They know, as Seaside stops there every 2 weeks

Yes, we were there last year, but I don't think I even realized there were two docks. Good idea, they should know that info anyway, imho. Thanks!

  11. On Seaside now and confirm Suzy is 100%.

Found it an easy system, they will clear out your mini bar and you can store extras in your cabin cold.

If you have Drinks with meal package A, they will also give you the 1liter water to go at mealtime, so you have water to take ashore or use at pool/sun deck and in cabin.

The water package for 1 Liter bottles is great value!

Note: Brita and other such filters may make tap water taste better, but it is not pure by any sense and does not make polluted water safe. Reverse osmosis and distillation are the start of safe water, not grocery store filters.

I'm in high purity and understand the science of the water.

Cheers, enjoy the cruise of your choice!

Am I understanding correctly that if we have the Mealtime drinks package we can get a 1 L bottle of water to go WITHOUT the additional water package vouchers? This is the first cruise I've been on where you can't order small bottles delivered to your room. Not crazy about only 1L bottles at bars/restaurants, but it is what it is!

  12. Thank you, Rhiannon. This explanation was very helpful. This seems completely safe. I won't worry about it anymore. Now if the weather will just cooperate. At this point it looks like maybe thunderstorms the day we are in port.

I'm glad I could ease your worries. And, hey, usually when it rains in the Caribbean, it doesn't last long!

  13. There was a post a few days ago by someone who was booked into a Wellness balcony but as Aurea Experience, it may be that this is what you have so it would be worth checking up on.

The Wellness experience is not going too well it seems and will be got rid of next year, so it makes sense to sell the cabins as Aurea.

For food in buffet currently, check out the thread by nikkiw60 who is onboard now and has posted photos.

We were actually booked in a Fantastica suite, but given the Wellness experience! go figure...

I will check out the threads, thank you.

And, yes, I've heard the Wellness is not selling well. I think they overdid it with including doctor's check-up and evaluation with a trainer. I like to work out on vacation, but I'm not doing things like that that I can do at home!

  14. I won't bother with the details, but we ended up with a Wellness package, even though it wasn't what we originally booked.

After looking at the perks (dining when we want, access to Deck 19, I believe) we are actually kind of glad for the mix-up. I'm wondering if anyone has booked this experience, what it was like and if there's any other pertinent info I should know.

It is supposed to include "active" excursions, but I can't seem to find any info on what these are or if we can bring our 15-yr-old daughter with us. I also read there's a special area of the buffet with healthy selections, so wondering if this is true?'

I know it also includes a doctor's visit -- we are NOT interested in spending time on a check-up while we're on vacation. :'):'):)clear.png?emoji-tearsjoy-1678

    :')

  15. We were there last March. When you get off the ship, you'll walk to a fenced-in "gathering area," with people on ship excursions directed one way and those with other excursions directed the other way. A woman will write down your name and who you are booked with, and when your transportation arrives she will yell out for you. Your transportation drives right up to the fenced-in area. Other than employees, no one else can come in or out of this area, so it's very safe.

We did a non-ship excursion last year and it was actually one of the more pleasant ports because we could avoid pushy vendors. They do drop you off in the parking lot, where some stands are set up, but I don't think the public could get in this area, because no one approached us selling anything. If you wanted something you could go to one of the stands, but otherwise, they didn't bother you.

I had my qualms about going last year after hearing the same as you, but we are going back in March and I am looking forward to it.

  16. The ship runs on local time for the POC, the times in your itinerary should be local time too, so give your tour guide those times. The next days time will be in the daily. Last November on Divina we had to change our clocks everyday.

Wow, every day! That's crazy. Thank you for the info, very helpful. I will tell the excursion co. we will be on local time (which I'd think they'd know, but apparently not!)
