While onboard the Westerdam in November, I booked a Double Denali cruise for May. Little did I know it involved 5 total flights from Southern California with layovers! My DH hates to fly unless it’s his own plane and said NO! Rebooked to the 14 day round trip cruise from Seattle. Only 21/2 hour flight nonstop instead of all day or overnight from Fairbanks and three stops with layovers. Next time I will check the flights, but I like the extra perks from booking while on the ship.

Is Zaandam going into drydock and will it be as extensive as the Westerdam? We took the Westerdam to Mexico in November and loved the changes except no library and taking all the seats out of the Crows Nest.
Zaandam is a much smaller ship. Do you think they will do the same as the Westerdam? BTW, loved the new flat screen interactive
TV and reading lights with plugs in the headboard. We always do balcony rooms. Going on the 14 day Alaska in May. Thanks!

Considering a Alaska trip 14 days double Denali. What are the hotels like? Is food included in the land portion? Any reviews? Thinking of May 2018. Thanks

We booked a cruise for next March for 11 days. Two ports in Cuba and then others. The price was well over $5,000.00 per person for a veranda room. Well, it was just too much money for us and we cancelled. We will be on the Westerdam in November and plan on making another couple of future cruise deposits.

has anyone have a chance to transfer a deposit to another sailing by Hal that is more $$? Or is the deposit non transferable? Trips are not until March 2018.

Redone Neptune suite 6175. Anyone have it? Large balcony? Pictures of handicapped room?

We have done 3 South America cruises in the last year and 1/2. Two were a month long from San Diego and the other around the Horn. There is nothing like Machu Picchu, the Andes and Patagonia. Also loved the penguins and crusing up the fjords. Next cruise to Mexico will make us 4 stars and then off to Asia in March on the Volendam. We are still in our 60's and pretty active. Do it while you can!

We just booked for the Hong Kong to Japan 14 days in March 2018. It is booking fast especially for suites ( balcony) as the ship only has two decks of them. I would suggest you have them call you when it opens up for the October cruise.

We have taken to doing "Gala" night dinner in the room on last couple of cruises. Always delivered hot and on time. But, I actually have called at 4:00 or so to order and just told them when we wanted delivered. Didn't have problem placing order that early and no wait getting thru to room service line. Probably varies by ship though. It amazes me how many people on our cruises believe just the "Room Service" menu items can be ordered thru room service. We have clued in several couples as to the MDR menu options through room service and they were unaware of it and did take advantage of it and thanked us later.

Do you just look at the daily menu, or can you get the MDR menu in advance? We usually just do room service menu, but would like the option of the MDR menu. Thanks! Leaving on the Zaandam Sunday for 23 days.

Leaving Sunday on the Zaandam. Do they have BB King?

Anyone have any info on Main Deck # E2702, E2713 or E2715. Aft facing cabins. Pictures?? Or pictures of the aft deck on the Main Deck. we are in one of those cabins for 23 day South America. Thanks!

We are shareholders and was under the assumption you get $250.00. Credit for any cruise. If I'm wrong, please let me know as we have a 23 day cruise coming up and only got $250.00

Read this post and it was very helpful. I booked a 23 day cruise including the anniversary perks through Holland. The week before final payment I called the big box and was told I could an additional $350. off booking with them. All things remain the same. I then called Holland and they said this happened all the time. It was fine with them as I felt bad about taking it away. So I had it transferred to the big box for the extra OBC. I did buy air with Holland and they are still in charge of that. All in all we have $1,000 OBC, drink cards, and prepaid gratuitys.

We are 3 star mariners and do not eat in the main dining room. My husband goes to the gym each evening and we order room service about every night around 8pm. We have mostly good food and hot. If you want food from the dining room, let room service know in advance and what time you want it delivered. They are very good about requests. Much better than a few other cruise lines we have been on. Plus having a early morning coffee and paistries are a wonderful thing and they are always on time.

We are 3 star mariners and my FAVORITE place on the ship is the Crows Nest. I spend time in the day and evening there. Sometimes to read, or watch the scenery. I have been on cruises where a group of contracted people have blocked it off. However, they have usually been very sympathetic to me asking if I could just stay and keep out of the way. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I too think this is what is advertised as a common area, and I have paid good $ for my trip, and I should not be denied using it. It's not like it is a closed area like a banquet room.

Thinking of taking an aft facing ocean view room on the Zaandam on the main deck. Does anyone have a picture of the aft deck area? Or room 2715?
-
Anyone have information on this room? TA said it is larger than regular E. 215 sq. ft. Looking aft. There is a small deck on the stern. How big is it? Any chairs?
Going on a 23 day cruise from San Diego to Valparaiso Chile Oct 2. Thanks for any info.

This is why we rarely book a cruise on HAL months or years in advance anymore.
We are generally happy with whatever cabin is assigned to us and the deals we have been receiving for booking less than 30 days out from sailing are incredible!
Yes, if you can drop everything at a moments notice and don't mind what cabin you get, wait until the last minute to book. The prices are always lower, but what you want may be sold out. We do this on cruises from San Diego as it is just by our home to Mexico. A quick trip is sometimes for less than $100.00 per day including taxes.

Transfers from Valaperiso, Chile to Santiago Airport. Flying out at 7:00pm

How do the prices of the onboard Apple Store compare to regular Apple Store? Taxes? I am thinking of buying a iPad Air.
-
I will need to upgrade my iPad with more gigs. Is it worth buying onboard? Any discounts or no tax?

Thank you for your trip review. We are doing a 14 night cruise from BA to Santiago, Chile on Jan 3,2016 and your review was mentioned. So you will probably get lots of us looking at it. My husband really wants to see the Welsh Village in Puerto Madryn and I want to see the Penguins. Hope our cruise has a excursion that offers both. ( hope I have the right port) I'll look at your post again when we get more info on Ports of Call. Thanks for all your time doing a review.

We usually have cruised on Holland and they have about 200 movies you can check out for free. This sounds really expensive on the Celebrity. I hope the $13.00 movies are first runs! I just might have to bring my laptop with movies of my own.
Zaandam in drydock?
in Holland America Line
Posted
Yes, but it is a smaller ship than Westerdam. Wondering if the same changes on all ships.
