Great review - thanks for taking the time. We'll be on Legend in September for our first Carnival cruise, so I'm really glad to see your on ship photos - particularly of the food.
Did you eat in the buffet at all? Just curious as to the variety.
Can I just get it right - in room breakfast costs $$, it's just that we like to have brekkie in our cabin on shore days.
Cheers, Diane

I decided to read some of the newer reviews on CC. I really wonder if you were on the same cruise.!
I do have a question about the children on board, and I apologise if you've already answered. Did you feel overrun by kids? A few people made comments about the kids. We're booked on Explorer in march 2016, which happens to be Easter and therefore school holidays. Thanks again. Diane

I was wondering if there were port talks and if so were they any good?
Thanks again. Diane

I'm so glad that we have a port side cabin for the second half of our b2b. We chose starboard side for the first leg. All bases covered -hopefully.

Thank you. I hope you enjoy your upcoming cruises on the Voyager. I haven't been on a 3-nighter but I would imagine the experience will be a little different to the experience you will have on the 11-nighter. I would prefer not to say the exact cabin I booked but it was in a midship location on Deck 7 (for some reason my official CC review states I was on Deck 6 not sure how that happened and they gave a extra star for my review - I took one off for the MTD experience)
That's ok. We have deck 7 midship starboard for the 3 nighter and deck 6 aft port side for the 11 nighter. Trying a variety of cabins. Diane

What a great review - thank you.
We booked Voyager for the 3 night sampler over 12 months ago, after hearing good things about the ship. I booked the 11 nighter a couple of weeks ago - before I read the CC reviews. I was really worried that I'd made a monumental stuff up. Your review has removed all my concerns about Voyager, we will have a great time.
Could you tell me what cabin number you had please?
Again Thanks. Diane

Good point - I think the credit card insurance is good for the average things, but I do remember seeing with NAB an age limit. That just makes me more determined to travel now. I hope your father picks up soon.
Thanks for asking - Dad's back to good health again, it just means that we can't plan anything long term, but hey if that's the only thing we have to worry about - we're lucky. Diane

Diane, I would start a new thread about this. This is quite different from the credit card insurance, and more relevant to over 70's insurance and pre existing conditions. (I don't know much about either of those things)
That's a good point about another thread. This claim is through my credit card insurance and I just wanted to alert others about the cut-off age for non travelling family members with regards cancellation. ANZ card via QBE is 80 years, I would assume that other cards would be similar. Diane
-
Can I also throw in another scenario - that is - elderly parents. The ANZ policy does not cover non travelling family members who are 80 and over. I have a cancellation claim in place at the moment. We had to cancel because my father took ill, he was 79 when the policy was activated, but they are now looking at pre-existing conditions, I had to provide medical reports from 2012. We now cannot get any cancellation insurance to cover us if my parents become ill, as Dad now has a pre-existing condition. Diane

A wonderful review, great photos. Do you have any idea as to how many people were on board? I worry about the large numbers, i was wondering, did you feel that the public areas were crowded? I accept the need for queuing for things like Zipline, it's the promenades and bars I'm thinking of. We loved Serenade -that is our cruise ship benchmark. Diane

Thank you so much for the review and photos. Originally, I wasn't particularly interested in Quantum, you have given me cause for a serious rethink. Loved your Oasis review as well. Diane

Thanks for the food pics, they make tonights dinner (which is whatever I find in the freezer) look very ordinary. What is the cost to eat at Jamies? Thanks Diane

I've just come across your thread, it's a cruisers worst nightmare.

Thanks for posting these photos. I would love to have been on this cruise, we should have boarded in Southampton, but it wasn't to be. One day we will definately cruise on Oasis. Have a fantastic voyage. Diane

I've read a couple of threads with regard to travel insurance and I thought I should bring a certain clause to your attention.
We use ANZ Platinum travel insurance whish is underwritten by QBE. We are due to fly out on the 5th October 2014, to join Oasis of the Seas TA and then spend a couple of weeks in America,
My Dad has taken ill and currently is in hospital. I'm thinking - that's ok the travel insurance will cover any cancellations, if need be. How wrong can a person be.
Under General Exclusions clause number 8:
the illness, injury or death of a person who is not a member of your travelling party an is 80 years of age or over at the time of activation of any trip.
Under another section about Non-Travellers
There is no cover for any costs incurred due to the illness, injury or death of any person 80 years of age or over not travelling with you.
Key words here for me are 80 years at time of activation, thankfully Dad was 79 when we booked the cruise and flights. I don't know if we are covered for accommodation etc that we booked after he turned 80. We will wait and see - we're still hoping to make the cruise at least - which has the biggest cancellation costs.
This will probably be the last time we use the ANZ card insurance, but I will be reading all product disclosure statements from now on. I've found another policy that only covers non travelling family members for Death or life threatening illness! Neither of which would include my Dad.
Cheers
Diane

What about couples? Do they have their own number of points, or is it a total number of points for them both? Thanks Diane

Sorry Nate, Looks my question may have been answered - I jumped from post #39. I promise to read the whole review before I ask more questions. :) Diane

Your review is providing me with great lunchtime reading. We'll be on Oasis next October for the west bound TA and like everyone else - we can't wait.
I'm curious about the ice hockey - did you buy your tickets before you left home or when you got there? We're hoping to take in at least 1 hockey game while we're in America. Any suggestions about hockey games in general would be gratefully received. Thanks Diane

She'll be leaving Italy on the 5th November to come to Fremantle for the summer season.

Is it my imagination or is Sun Princess on the move. The deckcam says that she's in dock, but the camera is showing open water.
I' ve been reading these posts with interest as we're boarding on the 15th Sept - hopefully.
I feel for those of you who had your travel plans disrupted.
Diane

Thanks for the review. We've booked Eden for 4 nights out of Fremantle in April. I was a bit apprehensive, but after reading this I know we'll be fine.
