    Fabulous photos! I did this itinerary with Kusadasi not Valletta on the old Celebrity Galaxy & absolutely loved the cruise ports. It is a shame that the excursions don’t give you enough time in Taormina.

    I visited again last year on an MSC Cruise & although we made it to the theatre, we didn’t have enough time to go in & then shop through the town.

    We were back 3 hrs before the ship sailed so another hour would have been great. I think next time we go, we will get a taxi!

    I also love the Greek islands too. I also climbed up to the same windmill but you can go a bit higher & then dine at a restaurant in a Boutique hotel with fabulous food & equally fabulous views of Mykonos town.

    Awesome trip report! Personally as my trip starts before I cruise then I also journal about what I do before my Cruise as it is all part of the vacation & you can get tips of what to do, where to go, great food & drink as our fab OP is doing here!

    That lobster roll & Farmer’s Market looked awesome in Halifax.

    I might even persuade my OH to do a TA now! [emoji6]

    Ah your Azores shots looked amazing - now I can see why people do TA's.... !!!!

     

    Personally, I would love a few more stops on the way before you cross the pond and I have seen some cruise lines do this but I do love NCL ships for sure! Might have to consider doing one, all that eating, spaing, drinking lol! :'):hearteyes:

    Explorer - is there an 'overhang' above some balconies (as per Discovery)?

    yes ex Galaxy the one that set lovely Jane Mc,donald on her way, i do hope she returns to her old ship and does a cruise program :hearteyes:

     

     

     

    I had the pleasure of sailing on the Galaxy for a fabulous Eastern Med Cruise & yes it would be great if Jane returned to sail on her but I think she is already in the middle of recording the next series of her Cruise programme so maybe the next series if it is commissioned again! [emoji4]

    Marella Vs the Big US. cruise lines. How do they compare?

    Great thread. I have been considering the newer Marella ships as they used to be Splendour of the Seas & the Celebrity Galaxy & I have sailed on both. Plus I always like to sail on a balcony & they were short of balconies on the older ships.

     

    The itineraries on these ships do interest me but I am worried as I am a bit of a foodie that the food will disappoint me.

    I was last on MSC & the MDR food was consistently cold or luke warm.

    Have they changed the spa facilities on the newer ships?

    Would be great for a comparison there too!

    After seeing some truly random carpet choices on NCL ships, I’m loving the colour & design of the carpet in the staterooms.

    I do like a mini suite for the extra bathroom space as well, it has to be said.

    I had one for the Escape inaugural Cruise from Hamburg.

    And a great thumbs up to NCL for empty room cabin crawling, excellent marketing tool!

    The Holiday Inn is a good place to view cruise ships, do you know which berth Bliss will be using?

    If she is going to Ocean Terminal then you need to be the other side of the hotel. If it is City Terminal then your view will be awesome!

    Have fun at the dinner tonight - so wish that the Bliss would have done an Escape and sailed for a short maiden from Hamburg to Southampton, maybe next time NCL!!! :hearteyes::hearteyes::hearteyes::hearteyes:

    I will do! Obviously she will be in Southampton after she comes over doing the Tranatlantic & you would have thought that Celebrity could fill the ship easily by releasing this Cruise to Brits & people in Europe. I’ll be really sad if it is just a TA Cruise I can tell you!
