Dang it! I just realized I spelled Mardi Gras wrong in the title. Ugh!
Nice discussion folks. To be clear, I wasn’t complaining as I was never up at 4:00AM. I didn’t even realize the Pizzeria wasn’t 24-hours until I hear some other passengers talking about it. Honestly, I think the pizza is disgusting and certainly not worth the really long waits for it. I’ll save the discussion about the food for another thread. I will say this, this was the first cruise I have ever taken where I didn’t gain 10-20 pounds in a week. In fact, I lost 6 pounds on this cruise. Yay for me!
Thanks for all the replies. It was very interesting reading everyone’s viewpoint.

crew shortages. this is not new. pizza hours been reduced for a few months now
I figured that was why. Those guys were making pizzas at a feverish pace. The guy kneading the dough often stopped to shake his hands (I assumed from some sort of pain). I am glad those guys get a break. I do think Carnival should stop advertising 24/7 pizza though.

I was recently on the Mardi Gras (July 16th sailing), and I noticed the Pizzeria was only open from 10:00AM - 4:00AM. To this day, Carnival still advertises the Pizzeria is open 24/7. However, this was not the case. I was wondering if anyone knew why the hours for the Pizzeria were altered. Thanks in advance.

1 box per person - each one is independently marked, and has no relation to the other boxes (though likely from similar lots).
I would not feel comfortable with 6 tests for 6 people. If everything goes right (no mistakes/spills, no internet issues, no missing test components) then all is good. I would get at least 1 (if not 2) additional tests - or have a plan B, and enough time to pull it off, if needed.

OMG, Tom! I didn’t even consider any of those issues that you just wrote about. Geesh! Thank you so much for your very insightful post. You have helped me tremendously.

I am about to order a 6-pack of tests from eMed. There are six of us traveling. I am assuming I can use one of those tests for each person in my travel party (we will need our own individual eMed accounts). However, I was watching a ParoDeeJay video and he mentioned that only three people can be registered under one box of six tests. Is that accurate? I sure hope I do not need to buy two 6-packs. That is a lot of money for a flipping COVID test.

We are on the July 16, 2022 sailing of the Mardi Gras. I know we have to take a COVID test 3 days before our sailing. From what I have read, many of you use the eMed at-home test. I also know Walgreen's can do the rapid tests that are acceptable for cruising, but I live in a small town, and I really do not want to put my trust in Walgreen's.
My question is, is it too early for me to order the eMed at-home tests? I read that some of you have gotten tests that expired one month later. Our sailing is still 102 days, 13 hours, 26 minutes away.
Thoughts?

I had the same issue. I found that it takes some time for your booking to sync with everything else before you are able to actually book specialty restaurants.

I understand your comment. I have been sailing for a few years now and on our last cruise there was a woman who had a dog with her, but by every indication I saw it truly was a service animal, in fact returning from a show one night on deck 4 walking outside I saw her and her dog sprinting for the relive area. I also witnessed her allowing a child who ask to pet her dog, but again a well behaved and Obviously, to me at least trained dog. I have no problem with this, i do take exception to some of the things i have seen that are to me clearly violations of the INTENT of these service dog laws. As much as I love my 4 legged creature, she stays home when we cruise, or maybe I should say with our granddaughter. I thank god I do not have a reason to need a service animal, but try not to begrudge those that Truly do. Its the offenders that I take offense with.
I can definitely understand what you are saying. I had a terrible experience with a dog when I was a kid (was attacked by the neighbors dog while minding my own business playing in my backyard) and ever since I have despised animals.

Question...can you have shrimp put on a taco even though shrimp are listed under burritos? Thanks!
-
Not everyone is an animal lover and shouldn’t have to be subjected to being around an animal. “No, I do not want to pet your dog...yuck!”

I always get the proverbial, "You and those cruises"! Maybe I do talk about cruises too much, but I cannot help it. I just love cruising. Sadly, I have not done a cruise in years due to me working on my PhD right now. As soon as I graduate though...

Touch wood, have never had a problem.
Don't just touch the wood...you need to beat it! LOL!

Essentially, everyone is getting a 200% refund; full refund of the price paid and a future cruise credit equal to 100% of the price paid. Isn't this fair compensation considering all the headaches everyone has to endure?
At what point would you call it even?
Um, if it were me, I'd say we were square! That's just me though.

I know this is a disappointment for many, but why can't I ever be this lucky. A huge inconvenience, but no one was stuck at sea. For their troubles, these passengers are getting a full refund, a 100% future cruise credit, and a $90 per person cruise credit (that's $540 for us). I'd take that deal in a heartbeat!

"Bringing on more water than usual" is far easier said than done. The particular hydrant that is used to supply water needs to have been tested within the last month to meet USPH requirements for safe water, so hydrants are limited. Second, you are limited by municipal water pressure. When I was with NCL, in Hawaii we were at sea so little that we could not make anywhere near enough water, so we took water at every port. In Honolulu, we used 3 2.5" fire hoses, and still could not load enough water in 10 hours. Also, any water taken from shore must be segregated from any other water onboard, and tested onboard for coliform bacteria, which takes 18-24 hours, before the water can be used.
Agree with you 100%, but I was referring to bottled water.

This was our yellow water on the Royal Caribbean Serenade in December 2014. When reported they told us to run the water for a few hours because they were changing water tanks. They brought us several bottles of water and eventually the water cleared up but I still wouldn't drink it.
This is what I expect them to do, zqvol. No way I'm using that to brush my teeth. When the ship docked after the first leg, more water than usual could have been brought on.
