  1. We recently purchased Carnival Gift Cards from AARP.  I called Carnival to inquire if I could apply those prior to boarding as OBC but was told that was not possible--that it would have to be done at guest services once onboard.  I decided to try purchasing Cruise Cash with the gift cards and that worked!  We leave Sunday so fingers crossed for no problems!

  2. Has anyone ever parked at Dominion Tower to cruise out of Norfolk?  Looks like it's about a 15 minute walk to the terminal but the only parking garage I can find in the area that could be used for the cruise.  At least, can be booked through bestparking.com, but I've never used that service.  Otherwise, a couple miles away for parking and bussed back.

Any suggestion or more information is appreciated.

the other thing is I am not sure if you have to wait 2 weeks after the booster. My understanding was it was 2 weeks after initial rounds to be fully vaccinated but you are up to date as soon as you receive the booster.

but I’m not 100% on that.

Oh I didn't realize that!  Thank you.  I'll check into that too

  4. We are leaving on Carnival Magic on May 15, well over 50, and just got our second booster on May 3 so less that the 14 day required.  I just don't want any surprises at the Port.  I was thinking of just waiting a day and still may do that but, of course, I'm anxious to get the test over with as is the rest of our group.   Hopefully the answer from Heald will suffice

  5. I called and asked PVP and she said 1 booster is considered fully vaccinated.   I've asked that question to John Heald on his Facebook page too but haven't gotten response yet.  I'm paranoid.  I want to get the Covid test asap but I don't want any surprises at the port!

  6. Who Can Get a Booster

    ELIGIBLE FOR
    1 Booster

Everyone ages 12 years and older can get 1 booster after completing their COVID-19 vaccine primary series.

Learn when you can get your 1st booster below.

    ELIGIBLE FOR
    2 Boosters

    • Adults ages 50 years and older
    • People ages 12 years and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised
    • People who got 2 doses (1 primary dose and 1 booster) of Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine

Learn when you can get your 2nd booster below and what you should consider.

Above is from CDC Website.  I'm over 50 and thought I was fully vaccinated with 1 booster but according to Carnival and their reference to "eligible" it sounds like I need the 2nd booster in order to be able to get the Covid test 3 days out?

Has anyone had experience with this?  Thanks

  7. Thank you for your response.  It really is confusing.  I was planning to make an appointment at Walgreens next Thursday for our cruise that leaves on Sunday the 15th.  But the latest update had me concerned since we just got our second booster this week (so outside of 14 day window) and are well over 50.  lol.  I'm a little undecided now if I'll just wait until Friday to be absolutely sure.

  8. TESTING REQUIREMENTS (UPDATED 05/04/22)

Except where destination requirements differ*, guests who are up to date with their vaccines may take their test within three days prior to sailing. Up to date means a person has received all recommended COVID-19 vaccinations, including any booster dose, when eligible.

Above from Carnival's website.  Trying to figure out if this means you would have to have the 2nd booster also if over 50 to be eligible to take test 3 days before cruise?

We find it rather easy, although we've only hit 15 once. Below is a sea day example

    8am - wake grab breakfast & a bloody Mary

9am - 12pm - trivia/pool/various onboard activities 3-4 Drinks; cruisers, kiss on the lips ect

    12pm - Lunch - drink

1pm - 4:30pm - trivia/pool/various onboard activities 3-4 drinks; cruisers, kiss on the lips ect

4:30pm - grab a "get ready" drink to take back to the room to get ready for dinner

5:30pm - Atrium bar "drink" while waiting for the MDR

    6pm - 1-2 drinks @ dinner

8pm - Pre show fun & pre show cocktail

    8:30pm - Show Drink

    9:30 - 12am Alchemy Bar/Dance Club/Comedy Shows 2-3 drinks

This is anywhere between 15-19, so obviously this isn't an exact science, as I said we've only hit 15 once. But its defiantly possible to drink 15 without getting blackout drunk. The problem is people try to fit in 15 drinks after dinner and that's just dumb.

Sounds like a fun plan!  If I can hang in there!  lol

  10. This is first time we have purchased the Cheers package.  I see there is a 15 limit which should be plenty drinks in a day.  However, if bottled water is included in the limit along with coffees, juice, etc then I can see how the limit could be reached fairly easily.  I normally either bring some water onboard or pick up in port or have delivered to room since we drink quite a bit of bottled water.

Has anyone else found the 15 limit not enough?

  11. We canceled a cruise in 2018 and had 24 months to use the FCC.  Then Covid hit and we didn't cruise.  We are just starting to feel like we would be comfortable getting back to cruising.  I've been trying to get an answer from Carnival if the FCC was extended and if we can apply to a cruise we want to book for May.  Has this happened to anyone else and what were the results.  Thanks for any input

You need the top one.  The bottom won't doesn't qualify.

We have a cruise planned in March which will be the first cruise we will go on since Covid.  I have several Binax Now with the AG card like the top picture that I picked up from the local library.  The tests are proctored.  I thought we were going to have to buy some other form of tests but it seems like the ones I have should work fine.  Thanks for posting this picture and information

  13. I had the calculations done and told the rep.  I also had called Royal on Saturday and asked the question and was told then that we would get 75% refund (just paid cruise off on March 3) and 25% FCC.  I wasn't ready to cancel at that time.  I think I said all the right things to rep, but I didn't get mad or anything.  I'm fairly assertive.  I had been on hold for an hour and a half and it was well past my bedtime.  lol.  I guess the best advice would be if you don't get what you want to call back and maybe have better luck.

Did you call customer service number or crown and anchor number?

    I called the customer service # posted.800-256-6649.

However, my brother was booked on the same cruise with our reservations linked.  He called last night too (same number) and he did end up getting 75% refund and 25% FCC!  He has cruised with Royal several times but as Diamond Plus we definitely have higher status (which obviously means nothing).   At least I'm glad he was able to get mostly refund.

He had a different representative and his call was after mine so there is no rhyme or reason.

I called at 1:14 and was on the phone for 43 minutes. I was told I would get half as a refund and half as FCC. I confirmed the numbers with her but I have nothing in writing. I did n ou t receive the confirmation email I was promised. I hope they honor my refund.

Sounds like you got your call in before the 2 PM meeting or whatever it was.    Good for you!

I called tonight and am 80 days out so should have been 25/75  FCC/Refund  but they would not budge.  It doesn't matter for rules but we are Diamond Plus.

  16. Thank you all for the ideas.  I'm sure we will figure out a good solution.  His mother and step father will also be on the cruise and have the same concerns.  We do plan to discuss with him prior to the cruise.  Since I was able to change his card to "no charging privileges" I do feel a little better about it.  Our first stop will be guest services I guess because I do want him to have some ability to charge and enjoy the cruise.

  17. As suspected, it was a waste of time to call RCCL.  I was told after the agent checked with supervisor that he would need to put $500 cash down the day of cruise.  She couldn't tell me what would be done if he didn't have $500 or couldn't pay balance at end of cruise.   She also said I could not put "no charging privileges" on his set said pass since he is an adult.  I just went into the account and changed it to no charge so that was wrong information.

We'll figure it out.  Thank you.

  18. Thank you for the input.

I thought about the prepaid CC option--maybe that will work?  It would be great if using the "no charge" option along with putting a specific limit is an option.  I will call RCCL and ask these questions specifically.  I couldn't find anything on their website.
