  1. Fun fact- if you are looking to re fare use a different computer. Just found out today, I booked a 26 day Mediterranean/ TA for next year back in May, on my iPad. I check every week on discounts and re fared in July my deluxe balcony by $600 savings. Wanted to see this week if any mini suites were avail but we’re almost $2000 more so wasn’t interested. I got a new desktop last month and just happened to check pricing today, over $1000 less then yesterday for the mini so I called my TA and he said he didn’t see that price. Odd-I went back to my iPad and it gave me yesterday’s pricing, I took it to my desktop and logged in there- whooo- $800 less for same room them my iPad. So guess what- two hours later and I have the lower price.

Since you booked in May, you should download the app and confirm that your dining was set up correctly. Due to your booking prior to the date the app was released with dining, you should be able to modify your dining if it is not correct. For Traditional Dining that people had already booked, Princess set it up for you to be the same each night. In my case, I had to correct it because Princess booked only my stateroom--3 of us and there are 7 of us in our party. I was able to add the additional people using their Booking Number. I then deleted the original reservations for a table for 4 and set up a table for 8 and included all 7 of us.

Downloaded app 10 days ago and have gone thru it twice, it will let me do a anytime dining at a table for 4 at about any time, but each time it’s in a different dining room, and doesn’t really feel like traditional, just possibly the same servers with different table mates possible each nite, IE the same old anytime dining. So I just close out the APP and hope something changes  Charlie

  3. Ok let me just as this straight out, is Traditional Dining on Princess dead. I booked a 26 day cruise on Regal for 2022 back on may 30th. Asked for late traditional dining and it showed on my confirmation and my online Princess account for a week, then it went away. I’ve read so much here and calling customer service, which was no help, most people on Cruise Critic are saying that TD is dead. The CS agent said I may be able to request it after I had paid foe the cruise, I’m not paying for a 26 day cruise early so I can book dining. So what is the real story or does anyone really know.

  4. Barry ATL, I booked a trans Atlantic for Nov 2022 back on may 30th, I didn’t wanted to book any specialties, just a traditional dining @ 7:15 each night for a table of 8. This showed on my princess up

until about 10days ago when It disappeared. When I spoke to,Princess about why it was missing the sales rep Pat told me l had to re request that table once I had payed for the cruise-around mid JUNE,2022. When I went to the app it only had info for booking anytime dining, nothing about traditional. My issue was 12 months from now these is a good chance that my dining choice will be fully booked.  Charlie

Only found out today via the Crusie Critic thread for our cruise about these changes - Reading some of the comments on this thread er seem to be in the minority as we have always enjoyed TD late sitting and have always viewed it as a big part of our cruise experience - On virtually all of our Princess cruises we have lucky with the table selection normally 8 person and have met some great people from all over the world a number of which we still keep in touch with a one couple have become firm friends. So we would like to still have that same "Old" traditional dining But looks like that's changing - General opinion here seems to be even if we manage same table at same time our Dinner guests could well be different each night - So constant first night experience which will certainly dampen our enjoyment - So guess have to wait and see how this develops as out cruise which is virtually fully booked is not until April 22

Also having today set up app etc - every time I try and log onto Dine My Way I just get a message that its not available right now !!

I was told today by my TA and a Princess sales rep is you cannot do the DMW app until you have paid for your cruise in full.  Charlie

There are also plenty who bought shares just for the OBC. If just 10% decide to sell that is 77.5 million shares at current price per share. Can Carnival afford to pay that amount of money out along with taking a hit on share price? Not likely these days.

    Sorry duplicated post

Just noticed today- 12/14/20 that there was 54.4 million shares of Carnival stock sold on a normal day. I purchased years ago for my retirement fund, but haven’t sailed any  Carnival Corp. ships since 2000- Disney & Celebrity for last 20 years. We do have a 28 day trans-pacific scheduled on Princess in 2022 though. I doubt if most cruisers who look forward to this benefit have more than a few hundred shares. Charlie

  8. Looking at booking a trans Pacific on Princess for Sydney to Los Angeles. On United 2 one way tickets for Raleigh NC to Sydney are around $2600 for those fo you who used EZ Air, about how much have you saved on tickets vs going direct thru airlines. This would be in early 2022.

  9. Man what do you people do for a job. Travel Agents have been working their butts off for us the last 4-5 months for what?  No sailings mean no income, how many of your favorite agency’s/ agents will be around by the end of 2020? I hate to use the current cliche,

These are unprecedented times for travel, I have only cruised 14 times in the last 32 years, never cancelled or changed anything, other than a room,  from my original Reservation and I can see the sudden costs being thrown out there as a way to try and stay afloat. This will get worse before it gets any better. Charlie

  10. Daniel, we are on the same cruise and looking to push it to Oct 2021 or March 2022. Last 3 years this 28 day has been released by Princess in mid May. I’m wondering if the virus is causing a delay. My TA still thinks it will release this month. Charlie

I love cruising enough to make some sacrifices, and it helps that our routines do not include the captain's table, spa, art auctions, casino, specialty restaurants, room service, and only rare theatre presentations. We do enjoy the buffet, lectures, trivia, Celebrity Life stuff, hot tubs, and the MDR, with a table for 2 (and they ARE distressingly close). The ports are of primary importance, and the reason we cruise. The deal breaker for us will be vaccinations, and not just the availability of a vaccine. There has to be some way to ensure that those on board are vaccinated. As someone else has pointed out, there are already people on CC who have stated that they won't be getting it, and I assume that everyone on here is committed to travel. I have no problem with the anti-vaxers as long as they realize that public spaces must remain closed to them. Research tells us that a vaccine with 60% protection from the disease, which is apparently a good protection factor, will have to be administered to 95% of the population in order to be effective. These numbers are from one of the many vaccine experts who are appearing on news programs these days, sorry I can't remember the name. I would like it to be 100% on a cruise ship. Exceptions should be for medical reasons only, and proof must be shown for this. I realize some people cannot receive vaccines for medical reasons. "Philosophical" reasons should not be acceptable. Maybe the countries that are being visited by the ship should insist on this.

I agree with this 100%, after vaccine, I can imagine many, many countries that might refuse a cruise ship docking unless they had proof of all passengers having proof of the vaccine. Even flying to Italy for a vacation will probably require proof of vaccine. Charlie

  12. We booked a 28 day LA to Tahiti under the Sip & Sail promotion in June. I had our travel agent look at repricing yesterday to see if we could get free grats, price would go up $3050 total over out S&S pricing for a Caribe balcony. Unfortunately no add ons avail under this promotion if you booked under Sip & Sail. Only option was rebook. Not feasible.  Charlie
