The steward doesn't know that, you use that as a scare tactic to intimidate people. I have reduced my gratuities on every cruise for the past 6-7 years and my service has always been exceptional. Guest services assures me they don't disseminate this information, it goes straight to corporate.

It won’t help you yet but once you check in and get your set sail pass, if you have an Apple phone (not sure if it works on Android) and add your set sail pass to your Apple wallet, the number under the barcode to the right is the cabin number they currently have assigned to you, even if it still says GTY.

Yes it works on android also.

  3. Steve, thank you for your reply. As my husband has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and has seen physician to verify same; I thought this would be a covered reason for claim. Also the cancellation fee was processed by TA and they are not doing any type of OBC.  Also can I get the refund for the 500 dollars from my travel insurance instead of accepting the Future cruise credit; I am not even sure if we will ever cruise again.

    Hi Betalake,

The IMG SE plan won't reimburse you for the $50 per person cancellation fee because your trip was not cancelled for a covered reason,

In addition, I suggest you cancel the claim with IMG because by filing a claim you will forfeit your right to change the dates on your policy to cover a different trip. This is true whether or not your claim is paid.

You can see what you may do with your IMG SE plan on this page:

    https://tripinsurancestore.com/coronavirus-policy-change/

Scroll down about 3/4 of the way from the top and you'll see my section called "IMG iTravelInsured".

    I hope this helps you.

  5. Steve, the policy type purchased was Travel SE and it was purchased on 1/17/2020. The cancellation fee was not a prepaid cost as it is not applied unless you have to cancel; but it was in the contract that we signed with our big box TA. When we cancelled the cruise yesterday; I did send an e-mail to itravelclaims @itravelinsured.com to make them aware of cancellation. The insurance company is IMG

  6. We cancelled our Nov.1 2020 cruise yesterday due to medical reasons.  Our travel agency is charging us the 50 dollar per person cancellation fee. Royal Caribbean is giving us a future cruise credit to cover the 500 dollar nonrefundable deposit. We are fine with that. Questions is; will our travel insurance cover the 50 dollar per person cancelation fee and do we have to take the future cruise credit from royal? Will travel insurance reimburse us if royal gives the FCC?

Aurora is the lady who sent out the May 6th apology email.  Carlos works for her

I also sent Aurora an e-mail requesting the status of our refund for our Serenade of the Seas cruise for April 3; that was cancelled by royal caribbean and refund requested by me on 3-14-2020. I received a very polite and courteous e-mail back that simply told me to contact our TA;    C---C--- as to the status of our refund. Of course, I have contacted my big box TA by e-mail on two different occasions with absolutely no feedback. We were booked within a group and I don't know if this is affecting our refund.

For gosh sakes.  Wear whatever you wish.  BTW...I dined at Mortons the other night and half the folks were in jeans.  I will not dress casually in the MDR just because I like to dress up.  However, I am very happy to see people enjoying themselves.  If that means they wish to dress in a tux, that's fine with me.  If they want to wear jeans or shorts, that's fine with me.  This will be our 52nd cruise.  I've seen all sorts of different clothing worn on formal nights...including the odd old gent whose tux reeked of mothballs.  Frankly, I like cruising more now than I did when my husband brought a tux, a suit and a sports jacket on our  7-day cruises.  Cruising is more relaxing than it used to be when it took an hour to get ready for dinner each evening.   I understand that folks wish to return to the good old days.  Gracefully, accept the fact that those days are past and a new generation of cruisers is setting sail.  Posting on CC is not going to change the cruise culture back to the way it was in 1990.

With your experience; I think you answered your own question. Enjoy your cruise.

  9. We have also traveled in this cabin and in 8088 multiple times and never previously been bothered by noise, but hearing all the recent comments about noise, I was concerned. Also, all the comments about the hardness of the "new" mattresses. I thought between the two, I'd be unlikely to get a wink of sleep the whole cruise!

Our bed had an eggcrate mattress topper on it and was quite comfortable. With the fire doors closed routinely each night at 10pm and the mattress topper we slept well!!:D
