Thank you all for your input and advice. I decided to go with the 5 day on Indy! Longer time, 2 sea days and I've never been to Labadee yet! Hopefully she will be hooked like I was and we can go again on an Oasis ship next. 😎

Thank you all so much for your input. I've been debating between these 2 options for weeks because I've sailed both classes and loved both. The thing that keeps pulling me back to Allure is 150 Central Park because I love that restaurant and the aqua show...but the Indy one also has great food and I have not yet been to Labadee. It's a tough one.
For reference, my mom is 59 and we will be getting off the ship in ports so I can show her some island experiences too.

I did ask her, but she told me to decide as she didn't know much difference. Her only request was not a tiny ship so both of these are fine.

Hi All!
I'm taking my mom on her first cruise ever next December and can't decide which itinerary/ship to pick from these two I've narrowed down. She doesn't want a real long one for the first time so I have two shorter ones. I'm having a hard time deciding between large Oasis class ship vs 1 more day of sailing...any insight? What would you chose? Price is pretty similar so that doesn't matter at this point. I'm worried 4 days on Oasis class won't give us enough time but I also like the WOW factor of the big ship...then it's Labadee vs Coco Cay....help!
5 Day - Independence of the Seas. Miami -Nassau-Labadee.
4 Day - Allure of the Seas. Port Canaveral-Nassau-Coco Cay
Thanks for your help!

Thank you!! I finally figured that out...:)

Hi there!
A group of 8 of us are looking to rent one of the over the water cabanas at Nellie's beach. When I go in the system to book, it wants you to select the # of guests. I try to select 8 (because it says a max of 8 ) but when I do that it doesn't let me continue. It will let me continue to book if I select 6 people, but not 8. Not sure what I'm supposed to do with this one. Do I need to select the 8 ppl or can I just book under myself and then we all get wristbands when we arrive?
Thank you in advance 🙂

I am on this sailing too - hoping our itinerary sticks. I would not want to be in cozumel with 9 other ships!

This is a much better idea than trying to stalk several threads to see updates....trying to bump this back to the top :)

If you decide to do an excursion, think about Maya Key. It is a 5 minute boat ride across the harbor where the NCL ship docks.
It is a private island with a beach and great snorkeling. Since it is private, you don't have the vendors trying to sell you something. They also have a swimming pool and your lunch is included with the excursion. The tender boat will take you back to the ship on the hour and 1/2 hour.
It is a wonderful island, very clean and friendly staff.
They also have a animal rescue facility and replica of Mayan Ruins.
Thank you! This sounds like a good idea - I don't want to take a taxi anywhere really as I've heard it isn't the best place to do that. We were looking at a catamaran excursion through NCL but all the excursions seem pretty pricey for what they are.

I can book this hotel with credit card points which would save us a lot of money - hotels seem to be pricey for our December cruise. The reviews for this hotel seem good and we get into MIA at 11pm so we really just need a place to sleep preferably with free breakfast.
Has anyone stayed here that could say yes or no as a decent option? Is it a good area?
Thank you! :)

I'm curious how long it takes for someone to get a response about their bid...if it actually will be 48 hours before sailing like it says it could be or earlier than that. I'll bee stalking the thread to see what some of you sailing in November get out of this. That might make me decide to wait out the bidding or call the upsell dept.

My group will be in Costa Maya in December and there isn't too many excursions through NCL that aren't a lot of money...I've heard the pool/bars in port are over priced.
Anybody have any great personal experiences with independent excursion companies in costa maya? Looking for like an open bar beach day type thing.

That is a great price.....we just upgraded to a Haven Spa suite on the BA, from a mini spa suite, for $500 a person.
I tried my bid a little higher than what was in the email...they have a little gauge thing on the page that says if your bid is "poor" or "great" which I'm sure is to try and get people to go high.
-
Interesting! Did they give a minimum bid for you to go from Inside to OV or Balcony?
I attached some snippets from the actual email we received...when you click the link they take you to a site where I could bid any amount I wanted on the balcony or ocean view (or both)...
Haven't gotten an answer yet, not sure how long this will take but I'm curious to see what happens. I'm fine with an inside but if I can get upgraded for a small fee why not?

Myself and my friends traveling with us on the December Getaway sailing just received this email also. We booked an inside guarantee room.
Going to try to get a ocean view or balcony and see what happens!

Wanted to look into making dinner reservations for my birthday on the Getaway in December (hibachi restaurant). I'm traveling in a group of 4 in 2 different staterooms/bookings and when I go online to book I see that I have to pay right away for everyone...is there a way to do this and not pay for everyone up front?
Sorry I am new to NCL too, so I'm not familiar with the process here :)
Thanks in advance.

Short answer...NO.
But you can easily take a taxi to West Bay for a beautiful beach. Or look into Bananarama or Beachers, for independent excursions to their facilities that includes transportation.
I kinda figured that was going to be the case. But a short taxi ride isn't a big deal.
-
I will be in Roatan for the first time in December on the NCL Getaway - so I know we will not be docking in Mahogany Bay where the beach is right there...but are there any beaches we could walk to? We don't want to have to do an excursion if we don't need to.
Thank you :)

Unfortunately there are 7 of us, so renting a car could get pricey for us all.

We will be disembarking the Pride on the 13th and the only affordable flight out was at 7pm that night. Problem is now, what do we do with all of our luggage while we do some sight seeing??
Anyone ever had this issue? What do we do and what are some suggestions to do?
Thank you !:)
-
I don't believe the Pride will have the HUB app on this Sunday's sailing. I think it will get that after we return....but we have several rooms so if one person in each room gets the package we can at least text via whats app.
-
Great! Thank you for confirming that, sounds like a good deal then. We're traveling with a larger group so it'd be nice to communicate on board.
-
I saw on carnival's site that the Social plan was $5/day per person, but reading some threads on here people have gotten the plan for $18 for a 5 day cruise, and $20 something for a 7 day....is this true? Where can I find this pricing detailed?
If it's less than the $5/day to buy all the days at once I'd just do that but i was under the impression it would be $35 for our 7 day cruise...
-
Thanks for all the info!
Kinda how I thought it worked but you never know really. I'll have to communicate it to the group and see what they think. We could always just use the old room phones to plan too.
$5 a day isn't bad though. Might be worth it to me.
thanks again! Happy sailing! :D
Good Food Options
in San Juan, PR
Posted
Hi All!
Myself and my husband are sailing with a small group of friends and are flying in 2 days early. We're staying at the Aloft San Juan, any good places to eat around there? We land around 6pm on a Friday night. Also any other food recommendations for Saturday would be great too, doesn't have to be close to our hotel.
Thanks so much!
