  1. We are doing the Carnival Freedom repo cruise in Feb. leaving Ft. Lauderdale and ending in Galveston. I too was a little taken aback at the price to get to the Hobby Airport. We are staying a couple days after the cruise to enjoy Galveston. I inquired with Cool Tours about transportation to airport but evidently they had to sign an agreement with cab drivers assn. that they can only transport groups of 4 or more. There is only 2 of us and if we cannot find anyone at hotel leaving around when we are we are at the mercy of the cabs.

  2. Thank you so much for the information!!! We are planning on staying in Galveston 2 or 3 days after the cruise since we have never been there before. I'll check yellow cab - am a little worried because evidently we are in town during "Mardi Gras" which I didn't know Galveston had. We are heading home on 'Fat Tuesday' so I hope it doesn't become a problem. Again, thank you for the information!!!

  3. I could not have been more disappointed!! Nothing for Tampa. I fail to see why a spirit class ship could not at least sail during the winter out of Tampa. Sailing out of Baltimore during the winter just does not make sense. It would be nice if Tampa could relocate the port on the other side of the bridge then a larger class ship could sail from there year round!

  4. I have searched this board and am having a terrible time getting info to get to hobby from hotel on seawall blvd. I would so appreciate any information re shuttles, taxi, etc and an idea of costs. We are doing repo cruise on carnival freedom in feb. and I know absolutely nothing about texas. I really tried the search feature and some answers were over a year old. Thanks!!!

  5. We have booked a repo cruise in Feb. 2015. We leave out of Ft Lauderdale but will end in Galvaston. I have never been to Texas and know very little about Galvaston. We would like to stay a couple days after the cruise. I would appreciate advice on a nice place to stay and places to see:confused:.

  6. On conquest we had room 8450 (aft next to wrap)-8457 the same on other side. These rooms are standard size but the balcony is much larger than the ones in between. Truly we did not notice much noise at all. A little chair scraping but it was minimal and did not affect our sleep. It appears that Splendor is set up the same as the conquest for these rooms. If you can snag one - go for it - you will not be disappointed!!!! *One word of caution - you will feel more movement in the back so if motion is a concern then I would not book aft. For me it was soothing and a gentle rock but I realize it is not so for all!!

  7. Just an FYI. If you only cruise once a year like we do - so you're booking a year out you stand a good chance of itinerary changes. If you book for the ship no problem, but if you book for itinerary this is a risk. We booked in Feb. at the end of our first leg of our b2b. A mere 8 days later the itinerary changed completely from what we wanted.

  8. We had 2 reg and 1 lounger-just ask room steward and he will bring u another lounger. There is definitely enough room for all 4 chairs. The umbrella is exactly what we brought and it worked great. You will love this room. We had read about some sewage odors in this area. Honestly we only noticed it a couple times and it was faint. Just in case we brought an automatic room deodorizer and it worked out well. Enjoy your cruise!!

  9. Just off Breeze a couple weeks ago. We had an aft balcony. The two balconies beside the aft wraps on decks 8 (Veranda) and 9 (Vista) are larger than the rest in the middle (cabins 8468, 8475, 9474 and 9477). The balconies are 1/3 larger. We had 8468 and really didn't hear any noise as there are rooms above. It was very quiet but be aware if you want to sit out on the balcony long it is very hot. But you have room for 2 lounge chairs/2 reg chairs and a table and you simply cannot beat the view!!!:)

  10. Oh brother. Most people did not start out in life well off and travelling the world. If in fact you were so bad off and now can afford to cruise, then simply saying any food and having my bed made should not be the standard you set for a great vacation and you should not be judging those who expect more than that.

What I expect is the menu they advertise on their website which is definitely NOT the menu they are now giving me on my cruise next week. THe fact that I'm not ok with the new menu does not give YOU the right to judge and make it sound like those who expect more for the hard earned money are just spoiled and haven't had hard times..[/quote

First of all - I was the one being judged for stating my opinions by TwinPrincessMermaids. Obviously in her first reply she didn't even realize I was replying to her post regarding me and I certainly did not "judge" anyone about their expectations nor make judgment who did and did not have hard times. I asked for no pity, just stated facts and why I am ok not having everything "perfect". By the way - I afford this cruise because I put one of my "extra" paychecks we all get every year back and do not make it part of my budget. I, by no means, am doing well!!!
