  1. So very sorry to hear that. I am actually doing Azamara for this B2B on my own as, again, my partner is a Church musician. He cannot travel over Easter either. Azamara is great. We know the entire crew, musicians and officers and it is a lot of fun. I hope it will be as much fin solo. Happy cruising

I would love to do the Azamara one day. Sorry your partner can't go with you over Easter. Is he the organist / choir director? Would love to hear about your B2B when you return.

  2. Hi. It would have been December 27th. My better half is a Church Musician and we have to wait until Christmas is over before we can cruise. We usually do a New Year cruise at that is our anniversary.

We got hooked on cruising about 8 years ago, and can't stop !!!!!

What a great combination. Can't forget your anniversary that way. LOL.

Never have done a Christmas or New Year's cruise. Glad you have such a great time.

My partner and I loved cruising as well. Just didn't go on as many as you. He passed away Feb, 2014 so my traveling has dwindled. Hope to get in the groove again before long. In fact, I'm on a river cruise Prague to Budapest in August. That ought to get things moving again.

    Take care.

  3. That would be awesome. Two of my favorite European Cities. Have a great time

Yes, this should be great. Looks like you do a LOT of cruising. I would love to have the time to do almost nothing but be on a cruise. It's a terrific way to see the world and have a relaxed time doing it.

  4. Hi Stephen,

We are on. Can't wait to get away from the cold.

    Alex

Where are you guys from? It will be great weather in the Caribbean!

My traveling companion (Cal) is flying in from California (Burbank) and I'm coming in from Houston.

    We're in cabin 6139.

Have you been on the Summit before?

Looking forward to meeting you. Maybe there will be a FOD gathering or two.

PS: My partner (Tom) of 34 wonderful, fantastic years, passed away February 1, 2014. We normally took our big vacation in December, so in his memory, I decided to carry on the tradition. He will be with me in spirit.

  5. I really fancy this. What sort of age range and where to book?

Sorry, don't know the age range. Didn't ask my travel agent. I would think it would be all ages. Since it is all gay, that makes it even better. :)

My travel agent is Concierge Travel in Houston, Tx.

If you go to the brandgvacations dot com website and look at the Prague & Danube River Cruise, you can look at the Resources tab to get travel agents to help you.

    Hope this helps.

  6. Sailing July 27th out of Galveston for a "get me out of here" getaway week. Really need a break. Looking forward to meeting other gay and gay-friendly travelers during the week. I'm traveling solo for the first time (not out of choice). (My partner/spouse passed away in Feb 2014 - so this is a trip to celebrate his free soul and his life!!!!) It is going to be an upbeat and happy cruise.:) :D

Hope to run into a great bunch.

  7. my husband and I will be on the dec 13th cruise as well! This is our first cruise and we are excited to meet new people. Its coming up quick. (: Will you be in San Juan a few days early? We are arriving on the 11th to explore and relax. We could meet for drinks one night.

You picked a good cruise line and ship for your first cruise. It will be nice to meet you both.

I'm arriving Dec 12th around 4:30 or so. The person that is traveling with me is a friend from California. He also arrives Dec 12th around 1:30 or so.

Maybe we could meet for a drink or two happy hour time like you say.

If you want email me (home email: stephenandtom@att.net) and we'll see about where best to meet etc.

    Happy Cruising!

  8. My BF and I will be on the December 6 sailing and are also from Houston.

So sorry I will miss you. I had to change my travel plans and will not be on the Dec 6th cruise. I could only get away for the Dec 13th cruise. Bummer! I hope you have a wonderful cruise. If you have time after your cruise, send me an email and let me know how things went and what a great time you had!!!;)

  9. We were just in 7688 on the voyager and the cabin was amazing . The balcony was huge and a great place to watch sail away. No soot. No extra passenger noise. Get away from everyone else and lay on your lounge on the balcony and relax. I could never have a normal balcony again. Loved it.

I am so glad you had a good experience, and it makes me more comfortable in selecting 7690.

Thanks so much for sharing your good experience!

  10. We were in an aft balcony on the Voyager (same class as the Navigator) and the balcony was MUCH bigger. We didn't have any problems with soot or vibrations but it was the ONLY time I have ever gotten seasick in 20 cruises. If it weren't for that, we'd book an aft again without hesitation. The obstructed view because of the structure of the ship didn't bother us at all.

It sounds like you really enjoyed it except for being seasick. Sorry about that. I've not experienced being seasick and hope not to this trip. Nasty huh.

Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated :)

  11. We love aft cabins (don't even mind a little vibration or soot)! The balconies are great -- almost all are larger than side balconies, and the view is fabulous. However, all of the Adventure and Freedom Class ships have a large metal "superstructure" on the back of the ship. Depending on where your cabin is located, it can obstruct some of your view. Radiance and Vision class ships do not have this, and they have a better view. BTW -- I still would book an aft cabin -- even on a ship with the "superstructure".

I'm on a Voyager class ship. I think I'm going to be fine with my aft cabin on Deck 7. My travel agent is going to check it out for me in May before I sail in July.

I truly appreciate your response. I think it will be great!

    Stephen

  12. Has anyone stayed in one of the aft-facing balcony cabins on the Navigator of the Sea (7690 for example)? It looks like a large balcony. Are there any negatives about these aft-facing balcony cabins to be aware of? (obstructed view, blockage of wind that might make the balcony hot, soot)

Thanks for any information you can share.

  13. If you are a gay or gay-friendly traveler on the Celebrity Summit Dec 6, 2014 and/or Celebrity Summit Dec 13, 2014 sailing out of San Juan, give a shout. I'm booked on these two cruises B2B doing my first solo. Would like to meet up with other fun travelers and perhaps share some shore excursions.

My name is Stephen and I'm from Houston.

Have met great fellow travelers on my previous cruises and know that will be true in December.

    Happy Cruising.

  15. I am so sorry for your loss, this cannot be easy for you.

I loved my Alaska cruises, they seem very purifying and really good for my clearing my mind

That said, they were also very fun! I hope you love Alaska, I took land tours too and loved it.

Happy, fun and safe cruising to you. :)

You are so kind. I'm glad you loved your Alaska cruises and I'm truly looking forward to my first one. It sounds so inviting.

Take care and happy cruising to you. :)

  16. July 6th the cruise departs San Francisco for an 11 day Alaska cruise. This will be the first time I've ever cruised alone. My partner of 34 years (and spouse for 3 months) recently passed away, and my friends told me I needed this cruise. I think they are right. I'm looking forward to it. Going solo on this cruise is not what I wanted but I know several other people who will be on the trip so it won't be 100% solo. I am outgoing so it will be fun meeting other people. Never have been to Alaska and really want to see that part of the globe. Tom and I cruised to the Baltic, the Caribbean and South America several times. Just love cruising. This trip will be a great getaway and lots of fun. Happy Cruising to All! :D;)
