  1. Unfortunatelly the situation is geting worse day by day. Several countries have closed their boards and almost all airline companies are cancelling their flights everywhere.

I hope for the best for those of you inside your cabins, I wish I could do something to help.

Hello all, I am the 2nd passenger that was taken off ship. Reports and results have been very confusing. The ship told me my test results before the drs did!! I'm very shocked at that. I did not have appendicitis symptoms. I had high fever and abdominal and chest pain.

An earlier message said that if they had had temp of 40 C they would not have been able to lift a finger let alone sed a message.i can ay that at that point I was hallucinating and it took several days before I was able to send a message and then it was to the first person in message list. She then got information to others and they were then able to contact my sister.

I am sorry that the ship is in lockdown but at least you have food etc. I have only meals that have gone cold before I get them, no coffee, no tea. Just bottled water to drink and it is room temperature. I'm getting IV antibiotics and they make me feel sick and I'm alone. Few nurses speak english so it's a lonely time for me. I'd love to hear Moss's voice.

Now that I've found this forum I'll check in regularly. Best wishes to all of you, esp the lovely people on our trivia team.

Hi Roma, I hope you get better soon and would be able to fly back home. I wish you all the best and hope you get a good service from the hospital you are in.

Captain just announced that no new cases of illness for the last 24hours, which is good news. The first man taken off, they had to wait for the test to go to Rio. They have asked for a second test. Still awaiting second result. Still not news from lady taken off and her test.
meanwhile guests by deck will be allowed out on deck for an hour in morning and an hour in afternoon/evening for one hour each time. Not allowed to touch outside bar etc but the crew will be able to serve us. Very good news for those on deck 4 especially.

still to keep 1 metre apart.

They are still in touch with local authorities and SS. So understandably the Captain and his team is a very busy, but stresses that they will do all on board to keep us comfortable.

    WELL DONE CAPTAIN and crew

    Great news!

  4. good morning.

As per the newspaper today Braziliam Authorities + Silversea are working on a plan to let the passenger ou of the ship in a safe way. Hope this will come to an end soon.

his22  I am so  sorry to hear of  your  sister - patient  2. Captain said it was  abdominal  pain!  Possibly  not?

I  hope it is not serious.  Have  you been kept informed?

My  cabin is still sweltering and  I  rang for the 4th time and was informed  it is because  they are  not using  airconditioning  but supplying fresh  air. Obviously this reduces the  virus transmission considerably so we  must put up with  it. The truth at  last.[Why now 11 hours  ago? ]

I  dread the  thought of  going  north like this -if we  do.

I wonder what  Silverseas  intends doing with  us longterm. Where will we end  up?

    No  mention  of contingency plans.

I am  Australian  and   our DFAT  [Foreign  Affairs]  thinks we are in a  stable  situation  and is not doing anything at  this  stage  unless  we become  ill or  run out of medications [thank goodness I am not on  any. ]

Things could change. I  have  taken  my  own  glassware and  cutlery and will wash  them  myself to reduce contact.

Hi Ozzi, where are you from in Australia? I visited Australia a long ago in 2006. I went to Sydney and then drove from there to Melbourne by the mountains (Blue Mountain, if I remember well). From Melbourne, we drove the Great Ocean Road. We loved everything

My husband, who worked several years in the mining company, went to Australia many times to Brisbane and Perth. A cousin, working for BHP, lived in Perth for more than 10 years. Both, my husband and my cousin are now retired.

My daughter lives in Auckland and we are planning a trip to Australia to visit Uhuru.

Is this your first time in Brazil?

    Keep going!

Hello all from the confines of the same cruise as Lirio who has summarized our situation so well.  My only difference is that I understood Capt Arma to say  the 2nd passenger’s disembarkation was unrelated to the flu or another virus.  He sounded so exasperated over the non receipt of information from the authorities.  Other than this current predicament, the voyage from FLL to this port has been great with mostly excellent weather.  Even Port Stanley was good with clear skies & 65 degree temps.

Now that we’ve been hanging out in our cabin for less than 12 hours with room service, a little bit of room to spread out & a balcony to get fresh’ish air, I’m in awe of the Princess pax who endured days of uncertainty, many in inside cabins & with children!   Who knows what our eventual outcome will be but as long as the booze & food hold out we’ll muddle through.  Fingers crossed please.

I am not in the cruise, I live in Rio de Janeiro and I follow SS as I have a cruise late may. I am reporting from the newspaper. I will keep an eye in all newspapers for the news related to ship.

  8. The summer cruise season in Brazil is supposed to last up to April and 21 new cruises are scheduled according to the Brazilian Health Authority (BHA). BHA recommended that those cruises should be canceled.

Crises underway alongside the Brazilian cost should try to finish in the next available port. This is not mandatory, but a recommendation.

I don't know which cruise lines are sailing to Brazil or along Brazil, so I do not know where to include this post.

Costa canceled all cruises in Brazil and the crossing from Brazil to Europe.

  9. According to the news, the man, 78 from Canada, was initially considered to have had a heart attack, but local doctors considered that it could be covid-19, and he was taken to hospital and exams were done. yet, according to the news the man had cough, difficulty breathing and fever.

I agree.  They absolutely are doing the right thing here.  I am due to leave Dublin on May 29th to Reykjavik.  The May 29th date gets me in just under the gun.  I was lucky here.  Now I just have to deal with the airlines and hotels, as I think many of us will have to do.

I don't think I am being premature in saying I will be cancelling.  I see no way the situation is going to improve over the next few months, I fear it will only become more dire.  I think it was vitally important for Silversea to do the right thing here, primarily because of the extent to which they rely on repeat customers for their business.

I am sorry for all of us and the great disappointment we are experiencing.  I know I have been planning this trip for over a year, and it is hard to cancel but prudence and common sense, I feel, leaves no other choice.

An side,  for Ms. Jones, I know you would not have been on this cruise because it is an expedition and you don't do expeditions, but I hope to be able to cross wits with you on a future sailing.  All the best.

I am on the same cruis from Dublin to Reykjavik! I wont cancel for now. I will wait to see. I do want to do this trip.!

I am on the Shadow in 11 days ...that voyage was waitlisted for a year or more and now has 2 cabin categories which have opened up in the last day or 2 ……..Rio to FLL  … the cruise before Silkismom.  Got the survey from SS and have submitted it.

So far just one case in Brazil, in Sao Paulo, not in Rio. A person that arrived from Italy. Although in Portuguese, I guess you can read using online translation.
