We do Heathrow to Dover a lot (going to Folkestone West -2 stops prior to Dover). Two hours door to door. Piccadilly Line to Kings Cross/St Pancras then high speed train from St Pancras. Very easy to do.

Thank you all for the advice.  One more question do you have to buy high speed train tickets ahead of time?

For once, I’d probably think Piccadilly line to Kings X/St Pancras and high speed train from there.

I did that seductive looking Paddington to Kings Cross tube trip this morning and as always it took longer than seems likely looking at the map 😀

Does the Piccadilly line start at Heathrow? And then connect to a high speed train at Kings X that goes to Dover?

    still a little confused

When we were there last summer, we took a tour to the multi-tiered Dynjandi waterfall (where you can hike up along the tiers). Coming and going, we drove through an amazing tunnel.  It’s not only long and narrow, but it also has an intersection in it with another road going in a different direction.  Remarkable.   The tour we did took up most of the day, and it was pouring rain, so we didn’t spend time in Isafjordur itself.

What tour company did you use?  Thank you.

  4. I also add my thanks to Alex and Maureen.  The trip was amazing and all the hard work that the two of them put into the tours and spread sheet was much appreciated.  My DH and I had a great trip and as John said it was the best trip ever and the best roll call ever.  We are so glad to have met Alex and Maureen and hope to see them again on a future trip.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  5. I also utilized the e-visa and had issues first getting the passport scanned properly. I had to go to my IT friend’s house since he had a scanner that scanned as a jpeg which is what they want. Then I got an email saying something wasn’t right so I called the number you can call and he said it was the scans of the photo that they were blurry and to just take it with your phone on a white background. We had gone to Walgreens and purchased the passport photos. I didn’t think the website was clear that you could take the photos yourself. That was a smart person that used the Walgreens white screen. Anyway we rescanned and then the photos were fine and got e-visas a day or so later. I think I would have had trouble with the cropping also but I had my friend to help. Just wanted to give another experience.

I also utilized the e-Visa. Had some issues with creating the images of my passport. Company sent a link that helped size the images. Took 3 working days after submission to get our Visa's
  6. I have not been successful yet. When you scan the bio page of passport and then it asks you to crop just the picture. Is that what you did and then on the separate download you just did a photo alone? Thank you for any help.

I ended up using a photo from my iPhone of my passport bio page. I made sure all the text on the page was extremely sharp in the photo and cropped it to the 500x352 pixel size. It took several tries but finally got a good one that was accepted.

  7. Any help on the process of getting the scans correct. I tried today and my scanner does it as a pdf and could not figure out how to change to jpeg. Also how do you make the scanned image not the whole page? And it was asking to crop the picture. I thought you scanned the picture separate from the passport. I don’t think I understand the directions. Thank you!

Yes - or at least I used a scanner. I tried taking a digital photo but it is extremely difficult to get the passport flat enough and avoid any reflection.

    • Tip from my experience: Make sure your entire scanned image is just the passport bio pages (ie. not a regular 8 1/2 x 11 page sized scan in which the passport only takes up about 2/3 of the image - I think this is why my first one was rejected).

  8. Thank you Vickie. Two more questions, can you leave the application and return later? Once you fill everything out how long before you must upload the documents? I'm thinking I may need a DD to help me.

The instructions are on the Brazilian Consulate website where you apply for the evisa.

There is a tool for resizing the pictures and if the information on your passport page doesn't size correctly, send them a note.. they will resize it for you and send it back to you to attach to application.

I am in the process of final payment for our Amazon River cruise and asked the cruise line specifically if they will accept our e visa.. the current answer is YES.

It only became available in January of this year..and has taken until just recently to get the same yes answer from 2 different people.

  9. Vickie,

Do you have any hints to uploading the photos and passports? I am a little tech challenged so any help would be appreciated. I am getting passport pictures taken today since it says that is the type needed.

    Thank you,

    Diane

Just applied for ours via the e site. A bit of a pain getting the pictures to the right size but after first one was easy to do second one. Yes it is a bit cheaper but the last time we got Brazilian visa it was $85 each and was good for 5 years. Now it is $40 and only good for 2 years. But it is easier to obtain, last time I needed proof of income, two references, at least for Western Canada consulate.

So done, and it should take alot less time and i don't have to go to the downtown consulate to drop off passport and retrieve.

It is important that when asking if they will accept E visas, the people may think it is an actual electronic visa. With this new system they send you a pdf file you have to print out and put in your passport so it is actually a real visa.

    Vickie
