  1. We just got off the Dawn a couple of weeks ago and had a great time. We've used both Victor Bodden and Island Marketing for Roatan (the latter for this trip). If it is your first time to Roatan, Bodden is hard to beat, they will do whatever you want all day for a very reasonable rate. Cruise ship tours are a little more expensive but if you feel more comfy go with that.

We used Island Marketing this past time for the trip to Altun Ha in Belize. It was the closest and easiest ruins to get to, about an hour away in an air conditioned van. The roads are not good there, but our tour guide was great. It is hot, though, and you do have to stay on your feet a little, so be careful. Climbing up the temple was a great experience for us though.

    Have fun!

  2. We are looking at Easter Break cruises. We will be taking our 16 DD too. Would you recommend Norwegian Dawn or Carnival Liberty? Ports of call are the same.

    Thanks!

Have sailed both Carnival and NCL and prefer NCL. Just got off Dawn a couple of weeks ago and loved it, but it is not a 'bells and whistles' ship. No idea about the Liberty. I'd check out the reviews of each and make a decision.

I will say, I heard that Dawn had some embarkation and debarkation issues due to being an open loop cruise (picking up Brits in Cozumel). It did not affect my cruise but may affect yours.

    Happy Cruising!

  3. Wow, that's crazy. I have gone off with my family several times in Rotan on snorkeling trips and have actually felt pretty safe. Maybe it is the whole safety in numbers when on a ship sponsored excursion.

Yeah, that's what I thought, but really it can happen anywhere. At the bottom of that article it states that 55 people got robbed on a ship sponsored excursion lat year in St Lucia and 30 some on a ship sponsored excursion in Puerto Vallarta.

    Stuff happens.

But, we just got back from Roatan a couple of weeks ago. I always feel safe there and love the island. I have taken tours with Victor Bodden and Island Marketing and it is good to be on a tour led by locals who know the island. But, you always have to be aware, even in your own city.

  4. Hey all you that say you were on the Dawn recently. Can you tell me what night each act was? Although the rotating people change out, Band on the Run, etc usually stay the same night, and we're trying to decide what night to eat at what place based on the shows.

The boozing causes me to forget things like order, etc, but I believe the variety show was the first night, Kaminski had a set the 2nd night....after that...I got nothing.

  5. We were on last week's cruise on the Dawn....

I agree with previous poster, duo deja vu were very good. I thought 2nd city was most entertaining, but get to spinnaker quick, because it fills up to standing room only. Comedian Tim Kaminski was ok, but at times got too preachy for me and relies almost 100% on audience involvement.

Not sure if it was mentioned on CC, but on one night one of the dawn entertainers at the main show (gymnast) fell from a pretty high level onto the hard floor in the Stardust. You could hear him say he was ok and then told others to drag him off the stage. They ended the show as soon as it happened (as they should have) and flew him out to a hospital the next day. It was very scary and they said he is OK, but it was not a pretty sight and I hope the best for him.

  6. Last year at this time we were on a cruise in Nassau. Luckily, the weather was decently warm. We went to the Breeze's resort in Nassau - $65 per person all you can eat and drink for a day pass. Beach, pool, and if memory serves me correct hot tub...Its a little older of a place, but still good and we enjoyed the beach and drinks for sure.

Cab ride wasn't too much getting there $15 or $20 total? And you can take the Jitney back for just a couple of bucks (stop is right outside Breeze's). Enjoy whatever you do.

  7. Speak to the maitre de (sp?) when you first get on the ship. I am sure they will work something out. Alot of people eat vegan nowadays. The buffet is always an option. Also check the kiddie menu, I think they have spaghetti marinara.

I second this. My wife is basically vegan as she rarely eats dishes with cheese, but when we went on Carnival Fascination a couple years ago, we told them the very first day in the MDR, and they did a great job taking care of her. They looked for her when she first entered the dining room and were very friendly about it. Of course, as it is a very limited diet anyways, you can't be too picky about what they offer to provide, but overall my wife was happy.

  8. Hi again from the Dawn, Stabalizers went out last night the captain said, so a bumpy night, nothing major but way more movement, and the sea is not rough.

All the info I gave to you guys came from the officers at the CC meet & greet. The hotel director answered all questions posed to him about the 3 hours in the sun. The vast majority of passengers will have no idea they will likely miss early flights.

Also sorry I started a ruckus, not my intention.

Anyway the cruise is still going great.

Also they said this will occur on every voyage of the dawn this season out of Tampa except, the Christmas and New Years trip and the repositioning trip.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

Thanks for the info! Good thing we are on the New Years cruise!
