  1. I apologize if this is a silly or redundant question.. We will be on the Anthem in June, scheduled for "Dynamic Dining Classic" with a seating time of 6:00 p.m. (see photo). I seem to remember reading on another thread that 6:00 will become 5:30 once we are actually on board. Can anyone that has sailed on Anthem confirm the correct time for the early seating? Thanks!

  2. Oh my goodness! How ARE your two?! One of our best table groups EVER!

DD is in her fourth year at Toledo U., so I'm off on my first solo cruise in 10 weeks ... not that I'm counting or anything.

We're doing great! We often reminisce about that first cruise, and how great our table was. I can't believe your DD is a senior in college already - please give her our best.

We've cruised every spring break since 2010. Unfortunately our breaks don't line up this year, so we're sailing on the Anthem the week after school is out. Looking forward to sailing on a bigger, newer ship. Enjoy your upcoming cruise!

  3. That moment when you first see the ship you'll be cruising on ... is it still just as thrilling as the very first cruise?

Our first cruise was definitely the most memorable and special, and it started what my wife now describes as my "cruise addiction". I am always excited to catch that first glimpse of our ship, be it from the plane as we fly in, or the taxi as we approach the port. As others have described, there is nothing quite like the rush of seeing the ship, walking up the gangway, having your picture taken and hearing the card reader "bonk", and entering the ship eager to begin exploring as soon as possible!

You meet such nice people on a cruise, including "Emerald City" and her DD who were at our table in the MDR on our very first cruise (Serenade, April 2010). The countdown to our next cruise is almost in the double digits, and my anticipation is already building!

  4. My husband and I are looking for a great snorkel experience in Bermuda. We will be there on Saturday, June 4, 2016 with Anthem of the Seas. This is our first time in Bermuda. We've found good reviews of Hat-Trick Charters but not here on Cruise Critic. Does anyone have experience with them? Does anyone have a different company they would recommend? Thanks for your help!

  5. St Kitts: We did a great catamaran sail/snorkel with a beach break at Nevis the last time we were there - I believe we booked it through RCI.

Domenica: I agree with the post above on taking the tour with Levi Baron & Bumpiing tours.

Antigua: we did the Eco Tour with Adventure Antigua - included some snorkeling, beach time and exploring on a couple different islands. Loved it!

    Have a great cruise!

  6. We found another "least favorite" CD last week - John Blair on the Jewel. Dennis Charles was the CD on our first cruise, and we found him to be very pompous and self centered, never visible around the ship. Dennis was supposed to be the CD of our most recent cruise, and we were glad when he was rotated off. John Blair (and his wife) proved to be just as bad, if not worse than Dennis. They were both incredibly fake and condescending in person and on their morning program. Again, only visible on board when hosting their events and very seldom otherwise. We actually saw them go out of their way to avoid talking to passengers one evening in the Schooner Bar.

While a CD will not make or break a cruise experience, I will certainly consider choosing a different ship/itinerary if Dennis or John are likely to be the CD.

  7. We've never sailed on the Jewel, but we have sailed out of San Juan twice and loved it! We've sailed on her sisters Serenade, Brilliance and Radiance - truly beautiful ships. Looking forward to our upcoming March cruise on the Jewel and getting back to the fabulous southern Caribbean!

Airfare to San Juan is expensive. I just booked our flights through Royal's Choice Air program (never used it before) and saved some money over booking directly through the airline. Prices have gone up almost $300 pp since I booked.

  8. We did the majesty four day itinerary in April and loved it - great ship & great crew! My only complaint is that we were late getting into Key West, and then couldn't get off the ship for another 90 minutes because everyone wishing to do so had to go through immigration/customs. We really enjoyed Key West but didn't have much time to see the sights.

Happy Anniversary, and enjoy your cruise!
