  1. You need to taxi from port(crown bay if using Celebrity or RCCL, other port a couple of dollars cheaper) to red hook. $9pp each way, then ferry over to Cruze bay $8.15pp each way the taxi to Trunk bay. $6pp each way. Currently ferries run every hour due to the hurricane recovery. Hopefully by summer or later they will go back to every 30 mins.

Check ships excursions also. RCCL/Celebrity cut their tour time down 2 hours. So better to do on your own. Its pretty simple.

After I asked this I kept reading and that's pretty much the same conclusion I came to. Thanks for the reply!

  2. No it has not, they were working on it. Also no showers, and only portable potties. You can change in the shower area, but no running water.

Hi, was wondering how we would get a group of 9 people over to St. John from St. Thomas to go to this beach? Never been off St. Thomas when we stop there...

  3. Yeah, 5 minutes if that. They aren't really very far away. We were there in Feb. and there was nobody at all in any of the cabanas, but that was on HAL. I'm sure on Carnival the cabanas and pool area would be a lot more popular. I thought the poolside cabanas looked pretty awesome. They are up on stilts with a balcony overlooking the pool and looking back towards the ship.

Yeah I really wanted a pool cabana but they were already sold out!!! :(

  4. He is going to be on in October confirmed by himself so you will probably have him in November. I think you mean "unlike most" though. He is one of Carnivals more popular Cruise Directors it seems to me and very few have anything negative to say about him. For me personally, Dr. E ties Graham Seymour on Royal Caribbean as the very best CD Ive ever had. Normally I dont even pay attention to the CD but these two guys are awesome at what they do and very outgoing and personable.

Ryano, I think Graham is the guy I had on the FOS in Sept 2011 and yes, those 2 have been my favorites too!

  5. Thank you everyone for your input. I knew we could count on the Cruise Critic boards to help us out. We are really looking forward to being on the Magic in two and a half weeks.

We had him on the Glory Thanksgiving '14 and he was one of the best we've ever had. I reached out to him on FB the other day to ask if he'll be on the Magic THIS Thanksgiving and he said "Probably".

  6. Perhaps they are mistaken, or that's only the case if they don't sell out entirely, OR that's a brand new thing because I've never heard anyone else mention that. NCL really needs to do a better job clarifying things...

Yeah, NCL does seem a bit slow or sometimes just neglectful on getting out information at times don't they?

  7. 99% sure. They are extremely popular and always sell out, making day passes impossible to sell. Where did you read about day passes on the Escape? I've never seen that.

Here's a link to the most recent review I read that mentions it. You'll find the line I am pasting below in the 2nd to last paragraph of the review by the way:

"We knew we made the right decision going for the Vibe. Trust me it is SO worth it. They even have day passes if you do not want to get it for the entire week."

  8. Last time I ran the numbers someone from the Philipines could make 3 to 4 times more working on a cruise ship than they could doing the same job in the Philipines. Granted they could potentially make more if they worked in the US, but they aren't working in the US.

So they're "less underpaid" than they would be working in their homelands. Doesn't change what the poster was saying about NCL having a more equitable balance of pay at their company. All cruise lines are guilty of this though...

  9. Underpaid by US standards, maybe. Underpaid by the standard of their home country, probably not.

Underpaid is underpaid. If a muslim lady gets abused by their spouse here in the U.S., no one suggests that it's better than the treatment she'd get in her home country. At least they wouldn't say that out loud... Just saying...

  10. The new management seems even more focused on increasing revenue streams than the prior regime. I think not only NCL, but all cruise lines are doing a poorer job as time passes of making the customer feel like they are taking part in a truly wonderful vacation. I feel like cattle most of the time lately.

    Anyone agree?

  11. Still not a great idea to fly down day of departure, no matter when the ship actually departs. There are way too many things that can delay/cancel/mess up your flight, and with airplanes all flying full these days, it can take a long time, even overnight, to get the next available seats.

    SOOOO true!
