  1. If it's any consolation, Miami at night is beautiful.

Yeah, I am coming to grips with it. I'll get to check out the daytime port surroundings while we're parked as it is. And like you, everybody is talking about how great the city looks at night so I'm sure I'll be ok with it.

  2. It depends on when you're cruise is. For the 5/7 departure, the sun doesn't set until 7:55 pm so it still be very bright at that point and should be that way for the rest of the summer.

We're on the Nov 19th cruise meaning that it will be fully dark when we push off. :(

  3. What's wrong with seeing Miami skyline at night? We were delayed on Epic last year and didn't leave until night.

    It was a good experience.

There might be nothing wrong with seeing the Miami skyline at night. But for those of us that love to leave in the daylight, it obviously sucks. That's where I'm at.

  4. I even get up in the wee hours of the morning when returning to port of Miami at the end of a cruise because I like seeing the lights. It's lovely at night. But alas, sunset is 8:02 that evening, so while still lovely, it won't yet be completely dark.

Jeez, just seeing your comments about the last day of a cruise made me sick to my stomach. I wish I could cruise 6 times a year, that would help my "last day of the cruise" blues...

  5. Cool. I hope it's dark when we leave.

Night falls around 8:15-8:30 in Florida at that time of May. It's definitely NOT gonna be dark when you leave. I like to see all the Miami mansions and beach goers when we leave from there so curious as to why you hope it's dark.

  6. My guess would be to give more time time fuel and load the ship. When we went a few weeks ago they had tractor trailers still pulling in at 3:15pm to unload. I think the fuel barge pulled away around 3pm. In the end it doesn't really matter, you'll still get to your first destination on time

This sucks pretty bad for anyone wanting to see the Miami sights on the way out to sea for anyone traveling around the same time we are in mid November. It will be DARK when we leave. This totally sucks.

  7. As I've said many times to my wife, I knew I was getting old when I realized that the time I now go to bed, is the time that I used to start thinking about getting ready to go out for the evening.

Well, that and having to get up in the middle of the night, every night, to use the washroom.

And, I guess, when it hit me that my head was now having a race to see which would happen first - going completely grey or losing my hair.

And don't get me started on when we go out to restaurants or stores in the mall, and I want to (but never do) speak to management to ask them to turn the music down.

And when I started referring to teenagers as a whole, as "big bunches of hoodlums".

Oh, and let's not forget the conversation I had last month, where - without thinking about it - I referred to "The Google", as in "We should look that up on the Google."

And yes, I'm 42, just about to turn 43, with an 11 year old daughter (heaven help her...)

    Classis stuff. I'm 45 and Addie's Daddy...

  8. Wow such anger on both sides. Gee whiz everyone calm down.

For the record every Godmother Godfather NCL has announced I am not crazy about

Pitbull a nice guy and has some talent. But I agree without sampling aka stealing music no one would have heard of him.

He was there at the Getaway party and was in the NCL Getaway commercial. They are giving it a Miami stamp.

Now this has been announced, I can finally come forward that I wanted to be Godfather of Escape but NCL turned me down :( David_sobe would have been so cool and so Miami :)

And post of the day goes to...David Sobe!!! :)

  9. I wasn't thrilled with Disney's choice of Mariah Carey when the Fantasy debuted but I still sailed the ship and enjoyed it. ((I don't care for her music, can't stand her voice, at the time she didn't have the best reputation in her personal life, and didn't even have any hit songs to make her relative to that specific time. She was in no way relative to the company, the theme of the ship, nothing. Zip. Zero. Nadda. But whatever. Their ship. Their choice.))

    Excellent points Sweetpee

  10. Does anyone know if there's a combo excursion from Falmouth of Dunn's River Falls and Dolphin encounter that is not affiliated with Carnival? I'm trying to save a little money and I've heard that doing independent excursions is a way to do that.

  11. LOL My Dad is a diehard Maple Leafs fan, always and forever...he'll likely never see THEM raise the Cup

Blasphemy! The Leafs will be good before you know it! 13 Cups so far and counting. Not many professional teams with that many titles...

  12. What is "mini bowling"?

Are you talking about 10-pin candlestick-style pins, balls with no finger holes?

Up here in Nova Scotia, we call that "bowling" lol

We used to have a couple of lanes at one of the local alleys that had the finger-holes-in-ball bowling, it was definitely harder than it looked!

Our alleys even have bumper pads you can add to the gutters for kiddie bowling, so the ball never goes in the gutter :)

Nova Scotia, eh? Who's gonna drink from Lord Stanley's Cup next week, our Lightning or the Blackhawks?

  13. My wife and I had an amazing cruise last year in The Haven on Norwegian Getaway. It was the best cruise we've had in 28 cruises over four different cruise lines.

I am delighted to say that we'll be in The Haven again next year... for a cruise on the brand new Norwegian Escape.

I put together a little video, that explains why I'm so excited about being in The Haven on Norwegian Escape.

If you have a few minutes to daydream about an amazing cruise, sit back and enjoy the video...

Really loved this video!!! I saw it on Youtube before I saw this thread actually. Kudos!!!

  14. Going thru Customs 5/16 from a cruise on the Oasis, I accidently left my camera bag on the desk at Station 20 and when I went back about 5 minutes later, it was gone! Our pictures and a Nikkon D7100 with multiple lenses went home with someone who knew he/she was stealing a camera. Customs does NOT use cameras to monitor anything. RCCL uses facial recognition software to match you with photos taken on board. How can people be that heartless to steal your memories.

Was there a lost and Found nearby?
