    Hi David,

Check out the AIBP calculator that I now maintain. I have attached it to this post. I have also included a link to download Microsoft's free Excel viewer if you need it.

  2. Hi

Going on the Royal in 2 weeks. Anyone got any info on the shuttle in Le Havre. Where does it drop you off in the town, how long is the journey, cost, etc. We are taking the Bee Le Havre tour to Honfleur and have to go to their stop in Place Perret.

    Thanks.

    Have a great cruise.

  3. Right now it is $199 to pre-purchase the photo package. I think most photos are around $20. So if you think you might like to purchase at least 10 photos it is a good idea. My husband, son and I did a 10 day Christmas cruise last year and purchased the package. I felt that it was well worth it. We got a lot of nice family pictures. We also got to know most of the photographers and it was fun to take pictures almost every night. The package included the photos taken when you get off at each port. We usually don’t even take these, but since it was included we took them in every port. They give you the hard copies and the digital file of each photo. It was nice to put the destination photos in the photo book that I ordered online after the cruise.

The cost for the 8"x 10" photos are $25.00 each now, not $20.00. This is what we were charged on the Grand last month (Feb 2018). Depending on the length of your cruise and the number of ports you visit, you may want to consider pre-purchasing the photo package.

  4. I only go if there's a good prize...no cheap champagne for me, better be good or no show. Princess doesn't care whether we show up or not, they get to keep their cheap bottle of champagne. Even for the "Captains" night for platinum's, elites, and suites, you get a drink and a jar of peanuts. Really Princess? We've spent over $500,000 on cruising on your line and all that's offered at a "party" is a drink and a jar of peanuts. So, we don't go, it's SOS.

We got off the Grand last Monday from a 10-night Mexican Riviera out of SFO and there were no jars of nuts at the Captain Circle reception. Just watered down drinks.

  5. I just got off the Grand a little over a week ago. They were offering the unlimited internet. I'm Elite so I took the free minutes but could have purchased the unlimited at a discount. HOWEVER, and this is a BIG however, the Internet speed was slow, I'm talking dial-up slow. So maybe they have discontinued their test of the unlimited packages on the Grand because people couldn't do anything with it and complained about paying so much for SLOW, unusable service.

We got off the Grand this past Monday, February 26, 2018 and the Internet was EXTREMELY slow. It took 30 minutes for me to complete my check-in process and there were only 6 people in the Internet cafe. This was at 2pm.

  6. Thank you Elyce for the review.

DW and I board the Grand on the 16th. A few questions if you don't mind:

    1) Did you take the tour "Colonial Colima with Lunch" in Manzanillo and if so, how was it? I know 'anteaters' asked below too.

    2) What nights are the formal nights?

    3) What nights were the Crab Shack held? Should say in the Patter. On our last Princess cruise last year, we booked the Crab Shack on its first night but discovered it was also the first formal night where they had lobster on the menu so we moved our Crab Shack date to the next slot.

I think is all for now.

Thank you in advance Elyce for answering!

  7. Whoever is bad-mouthing the Grand Princess must be a lot pickier than I am. We just got off the ship Monday, and I thought it was a whole lot like any other Princess ship, meaning just fine.

I could see places where the carpet might be replaced (and I'm sure it will be eventually). But I saw no serious problems, and no buckets for catching drips. We had a great cruise and would not hesitate to book on the Grand again.

And as many have said, a great crew.

    Jim

    Hi Jim,

Were you on the 10-night Mexican Riviera itinerary? If so, do you recall which nights were formal night and what nights they offered the Crab Shack?

We sail the Grand on February 16th to Mexico.

    Thanks,

    Paul

  8. Take the long tour that goes to Comala (sp) and goes to the pyramid. Pyramids on the West Coast are rare. Think the tour has Colonial in its name.

We were there in 2016. Since we'd been there before we walked thru town, ate at the Mercado (behind the 'mountain'). The ice cream store had interesting aqua frescas. Only thing we didn't do was have some of the coconut ice cream sold from the little street carts. It's one of the foods Manzanillo is known for.

Are the tour buses air conditioned on these all day tours to Colima? We are thinking of taking Princess' "Colonial Colima with Lunch" tour (ZLO-100).

    Thanks,

    Paul

  9. Just started planning our west coast trip for next year. We will be flying into Vancouver but departing on our cruise from Seattle. It'll be a round trip cruise, but we'll be staying on for the extra day to get to Vancouver at the end. Sooooo.... we are trying to figure out the most efficient way to get from YVR to somewhere in Seattle. We don't know yet where we will book a hotel for one night pre-cruise so if anyone has advice on that we would greatly appreciate it!

I would recommend the Quick Shuttle from Vancouver direct to Pier 91 in Seattle. They do not pick up at the Vancouver Airport so you would have to take the Canada Line/SkyTrain rapid transit train to the Bridgeport station (only a 7 minute ride from YVR) which is connected to the River Rock Casino Resort where the Quick Shuttle picks up on route to Seattle. Here is the link to the Quick Shuttle schedule from Vancouver to Seattle and the cruise ship pier.

  10. First off, my apologies for this newest thread. I realized after I posted my earlier thread this morning that I did not include the drink prices between $10.00 - $12.00 as the new AIBP structure now includes drinks up to $12.00. I know the individual prices are not the current prices but our next cruise on Princess is not until February 2018 so if any of you CC members are taking a Princess cruise in the near future, I would really appreciate it if you could take pictures of the drink menus, including the full bottle wine lists too, and email them to me using the link in my email signature below and I will update the spreadsheet accordingly. It would be nice if there was a "Files" section on CC to post these types of information files to share with fellow CC members rather than posting a new thread when there is an update. I have emailed the CC admins asking them about a "Files" section, like they have on Facebook Groups.

I have attached the updated Excel spreadsheet. You may have to download the free Excel file viewer in order to view the spreadsheet by clicking on his link:

Here is the Google Documents link. It should allow you to open up the spreadsheet too:

  11. We were on The Grand Princess May 8-to-18 -2017 We had the new mattresses ...loved them...we also had a mattress pad....this was the first time we had really bad sheets. They were very starched and stiff to the point that the last few nights I pulled back the bottom sheet and slept on the mattress pad.

DW and I were on the Emerald Princess last week May 13-20, 2017 and they had their new luxury mattress set. The best mattress we have ever slept on at sea. No need for a mattress pad and a sheet is find with us. We have never used a mattress pad.

  12. DW and I were in Sitka last Monday, May 15, 2017. Was gorgeous weather. Sunny and pleasant. 13C (55F).

Here is the link to the public transportation in Sitka. You will love Sitka. Lots of history and friendly people and breathtaking sights. Make sure you take a picture of Mt. Edgecumbe, the large dormant volcano. Very cool.

  13. DW and I returned this past Saturday, May 20th from a 7-night Inside Passage return from Vancouver which included Sitka and Glacier Bay on the Emerald Princess. We had spectacular weather. Sunny in Sitka (13C-55F), spectacular brilliant blue skies in Glacier Bay (18C-65F), sunny in Juneau (16C-61F) and light drizzle in Ketchikan (12C-54F) but cleared up in the afternoon. Have heard that May and June are the best months for weather for the Inside Passage voyages. We chose this itinerary due to the stop in Sitka. Definitely worth visiting. We did the southbound Voyage of the Glaciers on the Sapphire Princess in September 2008 when we had horribly weather. Rain almost every day so this cruise last week was a God send. Here are some pictures of the Margerie Glacier in Glacier Bay.

  14. If you are talking about Glacier Bay - doesn't matter as the ship will rotate so that both sides will get views of the glaciers

Not necessarily true. On our September 2008 Southbound Voyage of the Glaciers on the Sapphire Princess, the captain rotated the boat 360 degrees so all sides saw the Margerie and Grand Pacific glaciers in Glacier Bay.

On our Alaskan cruise last week on the Emerald Princess, the captain stationed the ship facing due north towards the Grand Pacific glacier the whole time in Glacier Bay meaning the Starboard side faced the front of the Margerie glacier. Even though we had a starboard mini-suite, we spent the whole time up on the Lido deck to take in the entire view around us. It also helped that it was warm and bright blue sunny skies (18C or 65F).

Here are some pictures I took of the Margerie Glacier.

  15. A formal night is never the last full day before the home port seeing that you need to pack, etc. They are usually on sea days. So assume the first sea day, and if there is a sea day before the last day, probably then.

We just got off the Emerald from a 7-night Alaska return from Vancouver. Left on Saturday, May 13. First formal night was Sunday, May 14 at sea and 2nd was on Wednesday, May 17th, in Juneau. So, it varies per itinerary.
