The older, smaller ships are the best! I have no use for rock walls and ropes courses.sI would be grateful to know thoughts and opinions on the refurbished Norwegian Sun from anyone who has sailed on the ship since its April dry dock and refit.Putting aside the terrible situation that many experienced due to the construction that took place on the cruises prior to the Sun's dry dock, I would appreciate knowing about the work accomplished, the changes and improvements and the shape of the ship now. For example, what if any refurbishments were done to the staterooms?
My wife and I are experienced cruisers but we have not ever sailed on Norwegian or a ship as old as the Sun. We are currently deciding which cruise to take this year so any information or photos you can share will be most helpful.
Thank you in advance.

We did this itinerary on the Jade at the end of March.
Beautiful ship. I *love* the smaller ships.
The only downside is that the Grand Cayman port call was on a Sunday, and despite previous reports, very few things were open. Even Margaritavile was closed!

Not surprising as they are not offered in retail outlets, unlike some lower class cruise lines that shall remain unnamed. Thanks, ColinIllinois. Color me surprised as I have never seen them before! From the link previously posted:
Can be purchased online or with your travel professional.

Haven't seen them do this in over 30 years.

No, it hasn't. Same pics as before. The NCL website has been updated with some SUN post-refurb photos of Four Seasons DR, Seven Seas DR, Garden Cafe,Los Lobos Cantina, Teppanyaki, Sports Bar, Bliss Ultra Lounge, & Spinnaker Lounge.

Not an issue.

No.IANYONE else having this trouble with NCL website???? -
Sounds like a question for LauraS.
We can speculate all day long and accomplish nothing.

Although it is not disclosed in the T&C, is suspect that it opertpes similar to the UBP in that there is a $15/drink maximum that is covered, where you will pay the excess (+ 20% of the excess).
We're sailing on the Sun at the end of May, so we will find out soon enough.

For us, you have that backwards. We prefer the older, smaller ships. I have no use for rock walls and ropes courses.Who here would most likely never go on the older non breakaway class ships. Or who has gone and is now spoiled by the bigger ones. -
The difference is that Carnival does not give the package away as NCL does. Thanks so much for the reply. It seems crazy to me that Carnival can offer the drinks package at $47/day and includes everything, but NCL can't at $85/day. Oh well, I'll still have a great time. :):)People complain all day and night that NCL's package does not include water and specialty coffees. What makes NCL's package more attractive is 1) I do not have to wait 5 minutes between orders, and 2) there is no 15 drink/day max as on Carnivore.

Have not seen any flavored creamers. Just the standard "cream."I believe it is available on-board at the coffee station in the buffet. -
It has NOTHING to do with the Jones Act. The Jones Act applies to cargo vessels. Cruise ships fall under the purview of the PVSA (Passenger Vessel Services Act).It all has to do with the Jones Act. -
Carnival's cabins are marginally larger.
Most important though, is the passenger demographic. There's a good reason that Carnival has a reputation as the Walmart of the Seas,

MCO is a cluster, and that's on a good day.

Not to mention the Baked Alaska parades, and the maitre'd preparing cherries jubilee tableside. Those days are long gone.No candles on Birthday cakes either. -
See post 33.So this dry dock event was just a refresh. No major changes or additions to the ship.Reading is fundamental.

What has that got to do with anything?Obviously,no one can get through dinner in 30 min.The MDR will operate as normal.

Both of them are undrinkable swill.

All bets are off with charters.

Stay on board and enjoy the peace and quiet.
-
Personally I felt it was a waste of time.

Unless you are taking an excursion, just stay on the ship.

NCL has updated the website to reflect the changes to the Sun. Los Lobos is a la carte.Tapas were free in 2014 in Las Ramblas when we sailed her on a Northbound Alaska
