The price is per device, not for two devices.
Yes, I caught that later! lol I thought that was a real good deal for a minute or two! Think I'll stick with the $25 for one! :)
Another question...Is there a C&A discounts available with that? I assume so but what are they?
-
Thanks for the net prices Robyn! :) Is there a C&A discount on top of those "specials" too? $18.75 per day for two devices is awesome imo!
-
It's a hot one on the pool deck today. I'm glad I stayed onboard to just relax in the sun

Looks great!! Hey, quick question. What's the scoop on the internet pricing these days on Indy?
(Yes, I could search and look but thought I'd ask real quick in this highly active thread!)
Thanks and keep the updates coming! They ARE appreciated!
-
mr. Ribeye is probably foaming at the mouth that he won't be getting a free cruise for a delay getting into belize [emoji12]
lol!
-
Never experienced this on Royal.
I hadn't either. Was last year on Liberty and I was completely surprised. Not sure what the deal was as I hadn't experienced it either. That said; I'd never asked before, just assumed we always had to go.
Will find out soon if that was a fluke one time deal or not.
-
Sorry to hijack your thread with the muster talk Robyn! .
LOVE the Mr. Ribeye reference! lol You'll have to report on anymore encounters with him. People like that are amazing (in a bad way) and why I always go out of my way to be even nicer to all the staff on board.
What a crazy morning you had btw! Looks like your weather is awesome. Loving the report/s. Doing a b2b2b on Indy soon so it's nice getting some current "scoop"! :)
-
Interesting. Just did a B2B in Alaska over the summer (on the Norwegian Sun) and those staying in the same cabin were waived from having to do the second muster drill due to no change in lifeboat station. Those changing cabins had to do the second muster because their lifeboat location would change. Was nice missing the second muster and it was the only time I didn't have to worry about chair hogs. :)
I was on the 3rd "leg" of a b2b2b and was told we didn't have to go either (and we even had to change cabins). We were just getting ready to head out to muster and was told absolutely not to go and that we would be accounted for. I was skeptical but didn't argue with them! :)
-
Disembarkation was miserable, we were number 17 and were able to get through customs at 11:15. Been on many cruises but don't remember it being this bad ever.
Wonder what the problem is?
-
Ok thank you, yes buying onboard credit was my intention. I actually didnt know that was possible to do. How do I go about pre-buying onboard credit?
You can purchase/redeem online as well...Use toward cruise price or as onboard credit...

This does not apply to me [emoji6]

Awesome feeling isn't it? Can relate to "watching the suitcases go by" (from your post today) in the AM on turn around day too. Sometimes I think turn around day is almost as 'fun' as the initial boarding on b2b's!! lol
-
Definitely not a lot of last minute price drops on Royal for the last year or two. But, don't give up looking.
We were able to add a second week to our 12/6 sailing on Liberty out of Galveston. The 12/13 sailing had a big senior discount bringing the Cat D balcony down to about $599/pp before C&A discount. Not as good as some deals we have snagged in the past, but pretty good by today's pricing! Maybe they are using senior or resident discounts more instead of across the board discounts...?
Dropped back down to the original (already too high) price now. :)
I'd say you got a heck of a good deal btw! Like you say, especially by today's standards!
BTW!! With crude/fuel so cheap these days I'd think we should be seeing some fuel "discounts" right?! lol
-
Not usual for RCCL to sail with empty cabins these days... I have quite a number of sailings that the ship is only 3/4 full.
Got tired of watching last minutes prices for RCCL, as my last few sailings this year, the prices got stuck for a long time and never went down.
Sure missed those exciting 2013 days where huge price movements happening in the last minute.
Yes, the days of the steep late discounts are apparently over for good. However, one would think they'd at least move it to a somewhat "normal" price point with so many empty cabins! From a shareholder standpoint, sailing with a large number of empty cabins doesn't set all that well with me. Maybe I'm missing something though?
-
Richard Fain has said they'll sail with some empty cabins rather than sell them at bargain basement prices.
That's what I thought. Thing is, the current pricing is higher than normal. lol Far from bargain basement! :)
Currently going to be sailing with over 50 empty balcony cabins if that's the case. (and that's the only Cat I've looked into!).
-
0%- 100% pick one. They are not on a no last minute deal if the the cat has not been discounted 10/20/30 days out, only if it has already been discounted
I thought I'd read where they were doing away with "last minute deals" but it seems a little counterproductive to me. Not discounted. Was higher priced than "normal" and the bumped up even higher. Seems odd to me. How do they fill those empty cabins?
-
TONS of cabins available and the price went UP a couple days ago. I know they are on a no "last minute deals" agenda these days but was curious what others here thought (or have seen)?
Thanks in advance! :)

OMG... JS is SOOOOO much nicer than a standard or superior balcony! Enjoy!!!
1000% agreed!
-
For us not true. Have had a JS with an upgrade and saw nothing special about it. But again, our opinion. I would rather cruise more and just do balconies, than pay more for a JS. If I get a free upgrade fine, but will never pay for a JS. for us, just not worth it.
Said by someone who's D+. :)
The double points ARE worth something to a lot of us (I'd not be Diamond yet without a few JS thrown in along the way).
Even without the points I'd certainly prefer JS over balcony until the gap in price is just too large. Where that gap in price tips the scales differs for everyone I assume.
The times I've went JS over balcony the price difference really wasn't much at all. I love the extra space.
To each their own in a nutshell I suppose! lol
-
Same "booking discount/s"? (Plat =$100 of balcony for example).
Diamond lounge access and some drinks as well right?
Didn't see any mention of the above.
Thanks again! :)

You are in for a wonderful cruise.
Is it summer.. YES, but the average temperature in St. Marteen in August is only 4 degrees warmer than April (88F versus 84F), and in Cozumel the average foes up from 86 to 91.
Will there be children, Yes most likely, but they have their areas and we adults have ours...
Have a great trip....
You posted as I was writing up my "not going to do it" post! I believe I'm going to pass for now!
Thanks for the reply though!
-
continue with my "never cruised in the summer" status (at least for Caribbean type sailings)!!
The packed ships, lots of kids (we raised 3 so it's not like I "hate kids", lol) and perhaps the biggest negative...HEAT/HUMIDITY. Packed ship, lots of kids ( I'm sure the heat affects their temperament at times too) just doesn't sound too appealing!!
I skimmed this thread and clipped a few of the comments about the weather. Gets the point across quite well and makes for a humorous read imo! lol
"It's hot! Even on sea days when you're at the pool and there's a breeze, it's hot and humid! Can you tell I think it's hot and humid???"
"Coco Cay was unbearable hot with no breeze"
"Kids , heat , humidity and pop up showers and thunderstorms and more kids."
"The walk off the ship to catch the little boat over to the tourist area about killed me."
"but yea it was horribly HOT !!"
"Even sea days were nasty hot"
"The insufferable heat and humidity.. I was completely miserable"
"The heat and humidity nearly killed us. NEVER AGAIN!"
I'm not saying I'll never try it but it looks a little doubtful! :)
I realize folks with families and kids in school don't have the luxury of being picky about when they're able to cruise. I'm able to pick and choose when/where I go with no children now, etc.
Love all the responses and appreciate them too!!

I could be wrong, but I'd be willing to bet a vacation to Hawaii will be far more expensive than a cruise during summertime!!! If you're looking for a cheaper option, you can cruise in August, which is cheaper than June and July, and you can look for a non-Florida departure port. If you truly want a land based vacation, I'd suggest going to an all-inclusive in the Caribbean. If you're 2 adults, look at Secrets resorts in either Punta Cana, Mexico (although Mexico would be at the bottom of my list), Jamaica or costs rica (the secrets resort in Costa Rica doesn't open until this November). I would also highly recommend the Couples resorts in Jamaica, but they aren't cheap (I've been to couples swept away in Negril and it was amazing- but 3 times the price i'm paying for my summer cruise). Sandals are supposed to be nice but I haven't been to one, but they've got them all over the place and their resorts include water sports (including free scuba diving!).
Price is not the determining factor in this but worth noting of course.
We'll (couple) be doing a Jr Suite on these potential cruises. About 4K each (on Indy or Freedom) for those. The latter part of August is out too fwiw.
Maui is our "go to" favorite land based vacation spot going on 10 years now. Weather is just awesome year around. Helps that I can fly "free" with miles but it takes quite a few! I go through ****.com for condos there. Have my favorites and most people would be amazed that it doesn't have to cost a arm and a leg for a very nice condo/location there.
I appreciate your other ideas and suggestions very much though. In fact, I'm poking around and looking at options!
I'm thinking this summer cruise business (Caribbean in the summer specifically) might not be for me! Tons of kids and the over crowding probably would bother me the worst I think.
Again, thanks for all the input folks! Feel free to continue. :)
-
Although most of the answers I got here (thanks so much btw) were kind of what I thought...however, the responses got me to REALLY thinking harder about it! lol
I'm leaning to go somewhere land based (HI perhaps) after really putting myself in the positions mentioned above!
If these summer cruises were "cheap" that would help but they are far from it!
I'm a midwesterner so I know about heat and humidity btw.
Hmmm...Not ruling them out completely yet but about too! :)
Thanks again and feel free to continue to contribute!

Thanks Bob.
Yes, that's been my experience in the past so assumed it was. That said; I've not been cruising for almost a year (gasp!) and the unlimited option is new to me.
(Diamond here fwiw)..
