We called Acadia Bike Rentals from Voyager of the Seas (VotS) on the afternoon of Thursday, September 22nd and made arrangements to rent e-bikes for Saturday, September 24th. We asked if we would be charged if the ship wasn't able to stop at Bar Harbor due to weather issues (there was +50 mph wind the day we called and there was already talk around the ship about continued inclement weather and the possibility of having to miss the port). The representative clearly stated that we wouldn't be charged if the ship wasn't able to stop. Friday morning, the VotS Captain made the announcement that the Harbor Master and he agreed our ship wouldn't be able to stop at Bar Harbor due to continued high wind and seas. I immediately emailed Acadia Bike at 11 am on Friday morning to make them aware that the ship isn't able to stop at Bar Harbor the next day due to the continued inclement weather. Three days later, our credit card was charged the full rental amount! I called to ask for them to credit us for what must have been a mistaken charge and then received an email from the manager stating they understand the weather prevented the ship from stopping but they "turn away dozens of people daily from e-bike rentals" so they would only refund half our the booking amount.....again, we were clearly told we wouldn't be charged if the ship didn't stop, and we gave a cancellation notice a day prior - so that shouldn't have prevented Acadia Bike from renting the e-bikes to someone else on Saturday. Such a disappointment to not stop at Bar Harbor and then get charged for half of a rental that we didn't get to use! So, unless you are standing on the ground at Bar Harbor, do NOT pre-book from this company to avoid getting charged for a rental!
