  1. I am a wino.

But.. hopefully somebody comes along to share what WSM and SA means.

We are on the Getaway for the May 25th sailing and we have a booking of Wine Lovers The Musical for the 27, which is on day three of the sailing.

  2. Anyone have any good, bad or mixed experiences booking tours through them? Looks like we could save a ton of money versus booking through norwegian but would love to hear some opinions

I used them and had no problems. Reasonable prices as well.

  3. I would imagine the tour operator will anticipate this in some way. Either by finding a free restroom stop (often tours stop at cafes for a bite to eat/drink as well) or they will have change. I wouldn't worry about getting coins ahead.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Thanks everyone. If there is a place to buy water at this "designated rest stop" on the way down to Berlin, we will buy a water or something to get change.

  4. Get change once you are in Europe? Sure seems easy enough.

We are on a cruise ship and our first stop is in Warnemunde where we go directly to our bus for the Berlin tour. Hopefully the "rest stop" on the highway down has attendants.

  5. Hi, this may seem like an odd question, but when we are told that we need .50 E coin for each bathroom stop in Germany, and I am only able to get bills through my bank, where can I get coin? Also, does anyone know if they are coin operated or is there a lady sitting there taking the coin? If there is a person she may be able to make change, if not we may have to "find the nearest tree" ...........

  6. Anyone else get an email like this? It apparently gets sent after final payment. Seems to good to be true?Dear Valued Guest,

I got this w-mail as well. Had originally booked insurance with NCL but when I got the contract and read it, it would not come close to covering the costs of a big medical emergency ! So called them and cancelled the policy and got it here at a local travel agency.

  7. Do you have kids? There is a reason most preschools start at 3, kids under 3 really do need one on one attention. At one point I had 3 under 2, and it was tough!
    '

I most certainly do! I have 3 and 5 grand children. Your opinion is your opinion, but the consensus here seems to be that ill behaved kids are not enjoyable, wherever you are. Kids are not born "unruly", it is allowed to happen. Just judging from my neck of the woods, parents these days have no time for their kids. So the one on one time you mention is not happening.

  8. Just a bonus info.

The airport has experienced massive growt over the last few years and capacity during the busy summer days has been at limit.

The airport does everything it can, the new central security area is expanding and should open before the summer and they are also expanding the terminals and building a new pier.

But these projects are a few years into the future.

Point is that you should probably allow yourself plenty of time at the airport

On the busy days the lines at security can be around 15-20 minutes long.

About the same at the passport check, unless you have the E passport and therefore can use the E-gates.

If you are unlucky the check in could also take around 15-20

So be at the airport at least 1,5 hour before departure but be on the safe side and be there 2 hours before.

If you plan to take a taxi around 8-8:30 you will be okay..

Maybe I'm to carefully but better be at the airport in good time than stress around

Thanks so much!! Great information. Yes, we like to be early rather than rushing and stressed.

Looking forward to two days in Copenhagen pre cruise.

  9. Since the ships comes from another EU country there will be no need for it.

I don't know how it will be handled post Brexit with ships coming from there but time will tell.

But in most cases the ship will start and end the trip in Copenhagen so that is probably the reason why.

THANKS. That should make my 12 noon flight easier to catch. (know there is security a CPH but if I am at the airport I will not worry to much)

  10. The problems currently being experienced on the Getaway may be due to shipside issues. However, that doesn't mean they are nothing to do with immigration and customs.

There is a big difference between disembarkation in Miami and in Europe. In Miami, you have to walk through immigration. Every time I have arrived in a US port that has caused delays to an extent (on one occasion of a few hours).

In Europe there is no immigration. You walk off the ship and you are done. I have never had to wait for even a second on any disembarkation in Europe.

It seems to me that they are dealing with the situation badly in the Getaway, but I'm almost certain that the situation arises because they are trying to control the flow through immigration. The result is that they are transferring the queue from the immigration desks to the ship. In Europe there are no immigration queues.

You will have no problem in Copenhagen.[/quoteIs

THERE IS NO IMMIGRATION IN DENMARK? IS THIS TRUE?

  11. I agree that it's best to encourage children to behave politely. I also think that people need to realize that children under 3 can be pretty unreasonable. If you insist on carrying them through the hallway, you may have a toddler screaming at the top of their lungs to get down. If you put them down, they like being able to run ahead. Which is worse, the screaming, or the thudding feet? In my opinion, I'd rather the running - they get past my cabin faster.

People can be truly awful about expecting perfect behavior from a toddler. They give you the evil eye and make nasty comments about controlling the child. Don't any of them remember what it was like when their own children were 2 and 3? We always tried to go to early dinners when we took the kids out to avoid bothering people - but there was no way we were going to stay home cloistered for 5 years.

Feel free to bitch and whine about tweens and teens behaving badly - if you remember being a perfect angel at that age yourself.

If the parents have lost control of the kid before it's 3rd birthday, there is no hope after that :(

  12. The horrors, kids dancing and jumping while acts were performing in the atrium. My last cruise I saw all people dancing in the atrium to the music, I guess that's not allowed. I no longer have young children but I have never seen these things happen on my cruises. When my boys were younger I saw it during hockey tournaments in the hotels but not on the cruises I have taken. I think if people don't want to be bothered by children they should re evaluate their choice of cruise lines.

Maybe adults only and family only cruises is the answer.

  13. I may get flamed for this, especially since I can't imagine that the parents who allow this don't have a clue at how intrusive and annoying it is. But, just in case parents really have no idea, I am putting this out there. I am clueless as to why any parent thinks it is ever okay to let their children run up and down the hallways on a cruise ship. I know they are kids, and we should let them be kids...But, isn't it more important we teach them to be humans first? It is just not appropriate or considerate at any time of day to be running down a hallway outside of other people's cabins. Do you not realize how loud and annoying the constant thumping of feet running past someone's cabin door must be. And, it doesn't matter what time of day either. If someone is trying to relax in their cabin in the middle of the day or early evening, that is their right, and there is absolutely no reason for anyone to be running around in the hallways ever.

You are so right in your complaint. I feel the same way! I have to agree with the Carnival ships, as that was our worst cruise for unruly children.

  14. Research a trip to the Bay of Fundy. One of the greatest wonders of the world. We hired a private tour operator (can't remember his name- he was a history teacher). We walked down into the Bay of Fundy where tides are 50'. The Bay was dry but as we lunched on Lobster at a nearby restaurant the tide came back in. Amazing trip off the beaten path.

This one is a long drive but it is an amazing thing to see!

  15. Have you tried searching for your dates on the website that advises people about their trips [i think we aren't supposed to mention names of booking sites on here so hint hint]? That should pull up everything available and which site has the best rate for each hotel.

It can be hard to find a decent place this close to sailing without some research. We are sailing in June and just booked our hotel last week. Honestly I wish we started at least a month earlier as it took a lot of effort for us because we need two rooms and one of them has to have twin beds. It seemed most of the nicer mid-range properties were mostly booked. There was more availability at the very high end and the very low end unless one wanted to stay near the airport [which we did not]. We finally settled on First Hotel Twentyseven which is more mid-range and is very close to Tivoli.

The Tivoli hotel is a bit pricier but looks very nice and they are a bigger property thus have more rooms to let.

The WakeUp brand has great prices, modern, clean looking rooms, and decent locations but NO twin beds at all so it wouldn't work for us; however, it may work for you so it would be a good idea to check them.

Of course you could always splurge on the Nimb [look it up, it's gorgeous! $$$$$$$$ though haha] or Hotel d'Angleterre [also gorgeous and $$$$$$]

There are 4 ships in port on the 25th! Figure rooms are at a premium!

  16. thank you very much keith! Your post has just made my stress level, about my cruise, go down a few notches! :d

what you say does make sense. I was on another thread concerning the horrible disembarkation, on the getaway, and i believe they were speaking about miami.

Getaway has moved to copenhagen and hopefully what you said is true. I have a flight at noon and plan to walk off as early as possible.

we have a noon departure a well! Things better go smoothly...........
