  1. Does each port have a cruise line agent? I've seen the name, address, and phone in dailies (I think or it could have been Carnivals fun times). What is the agent's job? If you miss the ship, will this person help?

Always wondered what happened to people left behind. Good reason to take Passport and C/C with you when you leave the ship!

  2. For those of you who traveled the NCL Baltic route, can you get off in St. Petersburg on your own? We've seen several options for tours:1) Book a tour directly through NCL

    2) Book a tour with a 3rd party

Also, I would like to know if it's possible to wander around on our own. We may be interested in doing a tour but if possible, we may want to visit on our own afterwards. Is that possible (assume we would need a personal travel visa)?

I will appreciate any info regarding this so we can finish planning our trip. Going Summer.

You must obtain a VISA to enter Russia. If you book with a tour company they look after that for you. Understand getting your own visa is complicated and expensive. Would recommend a tour.

  3. Yesterday was 90 days for us. We are paid in full, including pre-paying the service fees. Online check-in is 100% complete for 4 people in 2 cabins. Dining reservations made.

Last week got an email that I should complete my reservation to not lose our cabin choices and make a myncl account. At that point cruise was all but $500 paid for and myncl account was made when I booked online at the end of January. Saw that others had gotten the same email so just wrote it off as a glitch.

A few minutes ago I get a computerized voicemail that our final payment is past due and our reservations will be canceled in 3 days. Both our reservations show they are fully paid on ncl.com and I have email confirmations of zero balances. I call and get a giggly haha rep that has no answer other than to say "oh my gosh, well I don't know what to tell you, it says here you're all set. Just ignore it. HAHA" She then asks if it's our first time on Norwegian (it is) and goes on to tell me to use the safe in the cabins but "not because it's the crew I'm worried about but the other passengers. I've seen it happen. I've caught someone. You have to be on guard and watch other passengers" I am in no way worried about other passengers or our belongings. I know how to keep our things safe and she makes it sound like I'm about to enter "a bad neighborhood" on NCL. Who says that to new customers?!?!

This is the point in our trip where nearly everything is planned and confirmed and we should be coasting until June but now I'll be constantly checking to make sure our reservation stays put! No more "glitches" please NCL!

I would not be to sure that this is not a "hack" trying to get your banking information! I had weird requests as well. Can't imagine that NCl is not concerned!

  4. I got the same for our upcoming cruise. The email was telling me to create an account to access myncl but I booked online and the account was created at booking. Assumed it was a glitch.

Same thing here. Thought it weird. Hopefully it is only a glitch. My C/C was compromised after paying my

final amount. Couldn't say where it happened. C/C company issued me another card. Keep alert !

  5. Carnival tried this a few years ago and couldn't fill the ship. The Paradise is now same as the rest of the fleet.

Was just going to post this message about the Carnival Paradise, then I read yours. I would be one to book a smoke free ship and No I would not pay more for the cruise! Only problem was, this ship repeated the same itinerary and I for one do not do repeat cruises to the same ports. Maybe the same was true with this ship and so it was not a paying venture.

  6. I agree with this ... once purchased and paid for the insurance can be transferred to another cruise one time, for most policies, but not refunded. And, most of the policies I've seen require you to purchase the policy within a few days of first booking the cruise to have "pre-existing conditions" covered in the medical insurance portion.

    There are no pre-existing conditions.

  7. total guess here : since you can cancel cruise with zero penalty before final, i'm guessing you can change anything, even if you had to cancel and rebook. but it shouldnt come to that. i hope

Took the NCl insurance, having never been offered insurance from a Cruise line before when booking. Always got our own locally.

After receiving the information and looking into the policy, it is not a very good policy. Not very much money involved if you get sick or have to be send home from abroad. It's a very, very small amount!

So did not know how or if a could cancel the cost of the insurance, and have the cost deducted from my account.

  8. MrsK and I both booked with Canada at Par as our promotion. She received her upgrade offer in USD' date=' we received ours in CAD. Thus the dilemma :)
