  1. We moved our sailing from January 14th to December 10th on Reflection. Went from a C1 in January to an S1 in December and got over $500 refunded to my credit card. We thought the January price was great but couldn't pass up the December pricing. Even though we'd paid in full we were still 2 days prior to final payment date so we were able to make the change.

It looks like airfare will be cheaper in December too.

  2. S1 corner afts could be hot in December in the Caribbean. Depending on sun direction and how well your room air cools, but most likely you will get one on starboard or port with some overhang and not under the treadmills. Also, you could be upgraded even higher! As I said earlier, we upgraded for $300 with all the perks and were able to choose our cabin, which was amazing. My DH hates the wallpaper in Lumanie; it upsets his stomach! i have to make sure that he is not facing it. The bigger issue here is that it is very hard to go back. i am facing that situation now on a 16 nt TA to and around the Med. I have the aft S1 suite aft corner; love those, but could downgrade for a hump slant and save $$$$$. But it is 16 its and lots of sea days...:) GOOD LUCK to you!

We selected an S1 on deck 12 starboard directly under the Sundries Shop. Seems to me that won't be open in the middle of the night. I like shade so a corner aft was not an option for us.

Is Luminae casual for breakfast and lunch? Hubby pretty much only wears shorts and sneakers for most of a cruise. Dinner I'll be able to talk him into a couple wearing slacks. How dressy is Luminae at night? What about Michael's Club? Dress code?

    Thanks,

    Barb

  3. Generally the suites on Reflection they have trouble selling are on deck 12 NOT on the hump. These all have a large overhang from the pool deck above. I'm in the crowd that would jump on it. The rooms are really nice, the Luminae and Michaels are wonderful perks. I price these rooms all the time and it's getting very hard to find them at < $300 pp per day.

One downside is that if this is a reduced price upsell from Celebrity you would only get CC points based on your original cabin class. Not a real big deal as the discounted upsell is the big perk.

Not an upsell - its the current rate for Suite Guarantee. For now I'm going to keep my C1 mid-ship on 11. Right now it would be $780 more than we're currently paying. If it was for a specific Sky Suite I might go for it but my luck we'll be under something very noisy. Had a suite on Royal under the ping pong tables... nightmare. I'm really happy with the location on 11 and we want to go really casual this trip (think shorts and tank tops) so the suite restaurant wouldn't get much use anyway.

Thanks for all the replies. :)

I'll procrastinate until the guarantee is gone :)

  4. Decisions Decisions! I think we're not going to do it because the rep on the phone pointed out that my current category's rate has gone down $185pp since I last looked. Now, instead of being $340 mote total it would be more like $710 more. I'm not really sure that is worth it.

Pretty much the only suites left are Sky suites. He's repriced my cabin for us and I think I'll leave it alone for now.

    Thanks for all the input.

  5. We currently have a C1 on the 'hump' area on deck 11. There is a Suite Guarantee for just a few hundred dollars more. What are your thoughts on if it's worth it or not? We are new to Celebrity ships but are Elite based on our Royal Diamond status.

We don't do dressy anymore so maybe we won't be able to take advantage of the suite restaurants. Are they available for breakfast and lunch too?

What other perks are there that I should consider?

    Thanks for any input!

  6. The cruiseline DOES allow her to cancel penalty-free. It is her travel agent that has the cancellation penalty. She is being bamboozled by her travel agent, not the cruiseline

Totally agree. I tried several travel agents when I first started cruising. After the first cruise I knew more than they did so I now only book direct with the cruiseline. I know there are apparently a few good agents out there that know what they're talking about and provide some incentive to book with them. I would never book with an agent that charged a change or cancel fee.

  7. Has anyone check-in on the Anthem lately? My set sail pass says our sea pass card will be outside our stateroom door. My question is will I be able to get my sea pass before the rooms are ready. My arrival time for check-in is 11am. Usually rooms are not ready till 1 or 1:30.

We had drink packages and did get a drink before the cabins were ready. We just showed the bartender the setsail passes and they processed it under the package - no problem.

  8. I find yarn stores on almost every trip. My husband even helps. When we were in Alaska on a bus going to the Mendenhall Glacier I exclaimed rather loudly "Yarn Store" as we passed by. We had a lot of people turn to look and after we got back to the ship we walked to the store. I knit, weave and spin, my favorite souvenirs are fibre related. My husband restores old farm equipment and on road trips we have been known to detour to look at a tractor for sale. It is a bit of a challenge to find yarn in the Caribbean, but I did have a chat with a nice TSA agent on the virtues of circular needles instead of straights.

We were on the same sailing as you! My daughter and I spent af few days in Manhattan before the cruise and I made sure we stopped at the Lion Brand Studios on 15th street. I bought a few skeins of one of their newer yarns. I'm sorry I missed the yarn store in Boston! I should start googling yarn stores for my ports! I crochet mostly but also knit a little.

Our paths crossed a few times on the cruise. We were also in Wonderland on night two, North Star the morning of day 10 and We will Rock You that afternoon! We had a great time.

  9. Update: We were very happy with the upsell to JS 9632. It was the quietest cabin I can ever remember. No hall noise at all due to the little entryway before the cabin door. We had really quiet neighbors too. The space was great! Storage a little lacking. We did fine but I can't imagine what 4 people would do!

Only minor issue was the balcony loungers. Since the huge balcony is angled forward they were wet some mornings - not waterproof cushions. Our room steward brought two other comfy chairs that were mesh so we had seats to relax and watch the ocean.

  10. Your on board spending is also on the app... we used it to see a Bionic Bar charge that should have been removed since we both had the drink packages. We also booked an excursion right from the app the night before Bar Harbor.

For the daily planner you can click on things that you may want to go to and it adds it to your calendar.

We found it very useful and did not bother paying for the extra texting service.
