Sailing July 2024. First time to Iceland. First time on the Silhouette. I booked a sunset veranda at a premium expecting great views as we approached port but now I’ve read that the real scenery is once you are on land? (Ican book an Aqua room for less, so if there is not much to see perhaps I’d switch)

What are the must sees? Any tour recommendations? I’d appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks so much!!

In Akureyri go to the Godafoss waterfalls. I use GetYourGuide for my tour last year...and again this year.

How are the shopping there? Such as animal fur rug? How are the prices? Do they accept US currency, credit card? Are we allowed to bring such items back to the US? Much obliged!!!

In Nanortalik there is a very small shop (I think it was in the tourist info center). I paid with credit card.

We are going to Greenland in September.  I have been trying to book tours for Nanortalik and Qaqortoq.  I can't seem to get any tour groups to respond.  The one that did said they aren't working this coming year.  Does anyone know of a tour group to contact ? The ship Royal Caribbean has limited tours too- none in Nanortalik.

They sing in the church for you, and also have a lady playing an instrument and singing somewhere else in town. There is a small grocery store and a small gift shop.(you can pay with credit card)

There is a stand set up shortly after you get off the tender where you can check for an excursion.

    I booked it online.

We took an iceberg tour (in a small boat..holds about 6-8?) and it was excellent. They give you a one piece waterproof jumpsuit to wear. The amount of icebergs is amazing and you even get to touch them.

    I was there last year..2023

    So back to infinity!

We booked this cruise last year as an onboard booking during our last adventure🥰 Some OBC was given to us, 150$.

We booked it as ALL inclusive, CALL, basic WiFi and tips.

The Queen was all good to go️ in near future😅

We have a balcony on deck 7.

I have received several emails regarding MoveUp bidding.

My wallet has been closed. (You see I’m spending them on my renovation project… So to high startup prices to even consider it😜)

We will probably be all good in our balcony cabin🥰

I booked air tickets on SAS. Got a great deal. Paid only 2500NOK for the two of us round trip in SAS Plus. So a steal of a deal🤩 (you know I like it)

We will spend one night in Athens on Athens Center Square Hotel.

Nothing fancy, but it looks okay and the reviews were good.

Price for a double room, acropolis view and breakfast was 1000NOK.

Since I’m bringing the Queen, it’s a little bit more car/taxi driving then the usual way of getting around😜🚕

To the peace and calm of the day I have booked a private shuttle from the airport to the hotel. And from the hotel to the port.

I have booked by Welcome Pickups.

Athens airport to our hotel was €53.

    Hotel to port was 33€.

We will see how this is working🤔🤗🤭

We have booked one excursion in Santorini. Pyrgos village. (Something tells me that I will be the professional in-line queue princess again🫡🤪😅)

The OBC paid for this excursion. It was on the black weekend sale. So a good deal for us.

The only new port of call for me was Volos.

The Queen was 🤩🤩🤩 for overnight in Istanbul. She loves it there🥰 That’s why she wanted to go on this sailing.

The Queen has not visited Rhodos and Kusadasi before.

Yesterday evening I received an email from X.

    They have changed the itinerary.

Volos is out and Thessaloniki is in🙃

I have just waited for this…. Since the last cruises have dropped Volos.

    New time schedule:

Love your reviews...and am anxiously following since we booked this cruise for September 2025

After the show I had agreed to meet Mr in Passport on deck 3.

It was so crowded today. Usually it’s less crowded than decks 4+5.

It seemed like everyone was out and about tonight🥰

CD Angela said after the show that it’s only 67kids/under 18 on this sailing. (She was talking about what’s going on tonight of entertainment) So the average age is higher than last cruise😂😇 Of those 67 kids at least 15 of them are toddlers from 9+months  old to 2years. I saw lots of them when I walked (and umbrella strollers)

Mr arrived and we ordered a pre dinner aperitif 🍸

The new house band was playing in grade foyer🎶🎶

I think they need a few more days to get into it properly🎶 it sounds okay, but the flow of music and songs was a bit rough.

    Dinner tonight:

    IMG_3052.thumb.jpeg.fc8384cfe84a9b4ac6071930d7f3e043.jpeg

We had the salad, salmon and duck

    IMG_3055.thumb.jpeg.35bf150e305d48504c6e1a6ac73cb9c0.jpeg

It tasted good and was freshly made.

    Dessert

    IMG_3056.thumb.jpeg.260e97b7174019fb85043d1e07bcb734.jpeg

Mr had strawberry panna cotta and a scoop of ice cream.

    IMG_3058.thumb.jpeg.0921755b604d741ac02147cb34d6af1f.jpeg

I had my favourite ice cream, after eight😋

    IMG_3057.thumb.jpeg.ebad0e28cfd31c5b94813b17de2bf624.jpeg

The panna cotta has a real strawberry 🍓 sauce. It was purée from blender of strawberry 🍓 😋😋😋

Why couldn’t my cheesecake on the first night have this sauce????

It’s only on the menu for one night, so why not make it a really nice one🧐

I'll have to try the After 8 ice cream. I love their cinnamon ice cream...but now I can only get it if I ask for it.

Apparently, NZ is very strict about bringing any food products into the country.  There are signs, big and little, throughout the eating venues.  We will purge all our pockets, backpacks, and my purse of anything edible.  I normally carry a protein bar and ginger chews, but the signage is pretty clear; no food.

I was there about 5 years ago. As we were lined up to get off the ship security men came through with a dog. The dog stopped at a lady in line. She had a banana in her purse!!!!

they took it away from her.

I'm the OP and that's the same problem I was having.

I cleared the cache on Safari and still had to reset my password - so I set it back to the original password and since then I've had no issues. (Knock wood!)

i am at a loss here.  I have logged in to celebritycruises.com on my iPhone, iPad, MacBook Air, a laptop running Windows 11 and a desktop running Ubuntu and have no issues.  I use my email address and password to log in and cannot duplicate the issue being reported here.

I can log on with my app, my iPhone and my iPad....but not my mac computer!!!

I'm unable to sign-in to Celebrity - getting a password error.

I CAN sign-in to the app on my iPhone using my email and password but cannot on a web browser on my MacBook or iPad. I've checked that dang password a dozen times and yes, it's correct and it's the same one that I use on the app to sign in.

Anyone else having a similar problem?

Yes...I am having the same problem on my MAC...for a couple of weeks now!!!!

I have written and rewritten this post several times.  I know this is likely going to upset some people, and I am sorry for that.

Just for some perspective, I am mid to late 40’s, been sailing Celebrity for 12ish years, have a 16- and 10-year-old that have been on every cruise they could have gone on (10 or so for my daughter and 8 for my son).  I have only ever sailed Celebrity (other than one Carnival to Havana).

As the title says, I think Celebrity is at a crossroads for which direction they should go.  We have always loved the elegance and higher class on Celebrity, but the last two cruises (both Apex and post covid) have seen a significant decrease across the board.

To me, celebrity is currently trying too hard to fit into too many categories, be it the older crowd that doesn’t want kids around (you should see the nasty comments on our spring break cruise’s Facebook page), the family crowd, or the party crowd (never seen as many drunks on all my celebrity trips combined as I have the last two).

We have simply encountered a quality of people that we had never seen before on celebrity.  We encountered:  Multiple people passed out on St. Patrick’s Day by the pool (yes passed out - we were watching them start taking shots at breakfast), Eating as much fried this or that as physically possible all while barely able to stand, people who absolutely reeked of cigarettes everywhere, nasty rude people who snapped back at anyone around them (one lady snapped at me when I offer her a seat on a particularly rough sea day).

We have two more cruises already booked and paid for over the summer.  I will use those as one more chance to determine if Celebrity is still what we want to continue travel on.

If you have considered moving from Celebrity due to the drop in quality, which lines did you consider as a replacement?

I enjoy Azamara cruises...I'm sure you will love it

We plan to arrive in Reykjavik two days before our cruise. in August 2022.    Any info that Celebrity will offer any pre-cruise excursions before boarding for a 4:00PM departure from Reykjavik?

Don't know about Celebrity...but I just returned a month ago from staying in Reykjavik for 8 days and I booked all my tours through getyourguide.com. They were excellent!!

Looks lovely!  We were supposed to stop here in 2017 on an Oceania cruise and never made it in due to bad weather.  We missed two or three posts that cruise.  Then again, Oceania seems to cut ports pretty easily!  Looks like we missed a great port.  Maybe some day in the future!  Enjoyed your pictures.

I enjoyed visiting Victor Hugo's home in St Peter's Port. It's very unusual and fascinating. Then walking through the town with all the fabulous shops and restaurants.

It's quite the conundrum.  The likelihood of your cruise occurring in August is slim to none IMO so making final payment means more money is tied up in Celebrity until they cancel and then begin the refund process.  Were I in your shoes, I would not give Celebrity any more of my money only to have them hold on to it for a while.  If you think you will cruise again sometime in the future, my advice is to take the FCC before making final payment.  Like @jelaynesaid, Celebrity isn't budging on the final payment date.  They are counting on those final payment dates to keep revenue flowing...even if it's for the short term.

I've read that the CDC recommends cruise lines don't operate for the next 100 days....

Which Ship?  The coffees that contain alcohol seem to be handled inconsistently from ship to ship. Aspen coffee (Kahlua, Baileys & Frangelico) at $8 is under the $9 classic drink limit, but there have been reports of it not being included due to the Baileys and Frangelico being currently considered part of the Premium package.

I’m particularly interested in how this is currently being handled on Reflection.
