  1. They do seem to send the certificates out the next to last day. I just see the host at the end of the last night to get an updated cert. They seem to have my exact points recorded. I haven’t found them to be different than what I thought they were.
We do the same, on oasis the host said she had way over 500 certs to send out so was doing them early to ensure people got something, I just kept playing and took the very back when I'd reached the next level and she switched it out.

In regards to the free drinks, on Oasis they were substituting all the named liquors with what they called "house" brands. Bacardi was out of a white rum bottle, Bailey's was a coffee cream, soda wasn't in a can unless you specifically asked for the can, they used post mix syrup gun and so forth. It didn't really matter to me alcohol wise as I often drink the cheaper brands at home lol but one "high roller" (I watched him play $1000 on a slot and walk away with nothing 🤤) he was really complaining, made the bar tender re make a drink a couple of times till he said the correct alcohol was used.

  2. Just got off the Oasis and the vip drinks sticker was on our cards when we boarded, the no 5% charge didn't need a sticker it was loaded to the card account. When we got to the cabin we had a welcome letter saying our current level when we went to the desk to ask questions the hosts just pointed to a sign on the desk which literally stated the points needed for each level. They didn't want to answer any questions about it.

  3. This thread should be closed as chit-chat it is a roll-call topic!

This isn't the roll call thread, that one is in the roll call section but has the same people chatting in it, this in in the general rccl forum . If you see the first few posts we were discussing starting an official roll call thread and swinny123 stated she had.

The other people have asked valid questions applicable to many cruises not just the TA. flights, weather and cabin placement are all valid questions which many people start new threads to ask about. ☺

  4. Personally I have booked the cruise Only, then I'll watch the prices of flights and when they are a price I'm ok with I'll book them and never check again (incase the price lowers lol) . Are you UK or USA based?

    Sami

UK based and really interested in a Transatlantic especially on Independence.

I agree about booking at a price that is suitable and then not looking again (although it is tempting)

What sort of weather have you previously experienced on the crossings?

I'm aware of Norwegian Air for a one way so will monitor prices.

Yes i am flying with Norwegian next week to Orlando, the price was good so we thought we would try them.

Last few years its been good weather that i can remember, about 25c - 30c in florida and for the first few days of cruise, then slightly cooler from spain onwards, worst weather was le harve last year we had drizzle, not had bad seas really apart from on a brilliance TA but that was 4 years ago, the sick bags appeared all over the ship last year but seas weren't

rough enough to need them ;-)

  5. Do you book flights one way or return? Checking the prices for this year return is more than half the price of one way.

We book one way most times, this year we are flying with norwegian and their price was literally half that of a return ticket so happy with that. A few times we have booked returns and then told them we are't using return portion after we land. as long as you take the outbound flight its ok.

    Sami.

  6. Pricing is very high for an eastbound TA!

Very surprised people book this and think they got a deal....:o:rolleyes:

As a data point - this years Navigator eastbound TA was selling balconys for $709 + tax pp

I guess it's down what you are willing to pay and indeed what you believe is a good deal. I have been taking the Eastbound TA for the past 6 years and have seen the prices get higher and higher each year, I booked 2019 Indy got a great deal compared to the quotes I had last year for 2018's. I have booked a JS and am paying almost the same as what I paid for this year's balcony cabin plus getting $500 obc. And for reference my balcony cabin has only increased in cost since I booked, the guarantee cabins are cheaper but in the UK they don't always appear as available to book.

In the end it's up to the person booking to decide if it's a good deal or not, my friends all think I'm nuts to be cruising when I could be spending less money and going to Lanzarote instead, where as I think they are nuts to even wanna go to "lanzagrotte" when they could be spending that money on a cruise, different people have different ideas about a good holiday deal and your idea is obviously different to those of us who have booked this great cruise at our great prices, and also for reference the price has increased quite a bit in the 3 days since I booked so I am doubly sure my bargain is a bargain 😉

  7. Interested in this cruise & haven't done Transatlantic before so I have a question. Flight prices not yet released from UK so did you book as a package deal or did you book cruise and add flights later. Any help or suggestions gratefully received. Thanks

We were on the TA on Navigator in November....loved it.

We are off on Mariner in April, so hopefully when we get back some others may have joined us on here.......if I’ve done the roll call right that is!!!

  9. I’ve just booked this cruise, mid hump balcony at great price, with OBC and early booking guarantee to change if better deal should arise. Just need to sort a flight when they are released. I know it a year away, but has anyone else booked yet?

We've booked!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:DI have been haunting the website waiting for it to be announced and booked yesterday morning. We got a JS with $500 obc at a price that is majorly low for that cabin ( almost what i paid for a balcony on this years Navi TA) I will check if a roll call starts before i get back in May if no one starts one i will when i get back.

  10. Saw the Eastbound TA has finally shown on the website but won't let you book, phoned rccl and they say even though it's on the site it's not live till the 10th. However rccl US can book it if you phone them!!!! But with the prices shown on the UK site with exchange rate it is coming up as approx £1000 more to book through the US, so gonna have to wait till at least the 10th to see if the prices shown on UK site are true or if they have glitched.

  11. Can anyone tell me if they use paper Bingo cards on the Navigator? Don't want to pack my daubers if not necessary.

No dabbers or pens needed. They use both electric boards and paper cards it's your choice which but the paper ones have cut's around the numbers so you just poke your finger through and fold the number back. The number tabs have to stay attached to card as they sometimes check the paper ones by hand if the comp goes down on them.

  12. I am the same way.

My wife and I have decided that we enjoy making cruises our vacation. I take what I am willing to lose and no more. While I can’t say that I have walked away with the ships money the free cruises that we have gotten are our next trip that we would have been paying for and what I have lost is less than what the cruise fare would be. So in effect my nightly entertainment is free as we don’t pay for our next cruise.

Ditto lol. Mum and I gamble what we can afford and have walked away in profit a few times but the other losses have been offset by the cruise certs we recieved. We see it as a fun way to save for our next cruise 😉

  13. Out of curiosity, are there other Canadians that are Club Royale members and don't receive any offers? If not having a US address is the problem with not receiving any casino offers, we should have been told that from the beginning, instead of wondering why we aren't receiving any offers. I wonder if they could come up with something for us, just an idea.

    Rhonda

Hi we aren't Canadian we are British but we don't receive emails or snail mail from the casino. According to them we are set up for emails but they simply don't arrive. Another rep simply said good luck when I asked him to check if we should receive emails being in a foreign country 😔😔 he seemed to think they were more concerned with the US clients as they may have less travel to get to ports so are more likely to cruise when offers come up 😡😡

  14. Another "it all depends who you talk to".

My other cruising friend said they were allowed cold drinks onto their RCL ship. Just to make sure I phoned in. The rep I spoke with said "no".

I arrive at Galveston cruise terminal. Ask first RCL person I see about drinks. "sure no problem but for alcohol".clear.png?emoji-embarrass-1727

I would have brought my cane sugar Dr. Pepper and Coca-cola !

Just looking back at the last few posts...... does anyone at RCL know what they are doing ?

That goes to those aboard ship too.

The answer to that is no lol. No one has a clue what they are doing lol, they give you the answer someone else gave them it's like a game of Chinese whispers both on-board and on the phone. 🤣🤣

  15. Just back from 7 day cruise. Got a certificate for Oceanview cabin. On the back are only listings for 4 to 5 day cruises on the older, smaller ships.

My friend got a cert for INSIDE. On the back of it are multiple 7 day cruises on the modern ships.

What gives with this ? Is this usual for Royale Casino ?

This seems rather stinko to me. Like a ROYAL jip con job !

I never bother with the ones on the back, I just ring them and if I have a cruise in mind how much it would be with the cert, if I don't have one in mind ask them which ones they can comp with the cert. I was told the ones on the back are just an idea of which you can have comped, you can book any cruise you want but you may have to chip in towards the room. I have 2 cruises with casino certs coming up, both 7 nights both oceanview balcony cabins. allure was comped so only paid $400 for taxes and grats for 2 people, oasis was partly comped had to pay $200 plus the $400 taxes and grats.

It all depends on the cost of the cruise when you ring. Since then I've also phoned and had $406 price drop on oasis that they put as obc as is paid in full.

  16. We were on oasis in Nov and the 1st -2nd night the aw brought the tray round, the 3rd -4th we had a small basket on the table filled with the types we had eaten then the last few nights the hw brought the tray round letting us choose again.

Aw picked up on the fact I always ordered the French onion soup and had cheese rolls to dunk so there was always plenty of them 😁😁

  17. Told 1000pts qualifies you for drinks next cruise last week. Told that cruise certificates can not be combined for same person. But if two different people can be combined.

Going on cruise next week with wife and plan on using her cruise card for slots (she does not gamble) so she will get future cc which we can combine. Anyone see a down side on this??

Are you planning on using your card till you get a cc then using your wife's after to get her one too? One downside is that your points will be down so you may get a smaller cert than normal, but combined yours and wife's may be worth more. Sone people I know play one machine together so combone their money, gamble using 1 card then after they've got the 2400 points then gamble on the other card for the rest of the cruise. Whoevers card is in the machine is the person who sits in front of the machine so casino can't tell em they're doing wrong. Was talking to them for ages last cruise and they say they do it every time.

  18. I have a comped cruise coming up in march, I always have the VIP sticker for free drinks on my card, my last cruise in December was a light cruise gambling wise and curious what the actual amount of points need on most recent cruise to re-qualify for the vip sticker? ive heard alot of different numbers around here.

We were told on oasis in Dec that as long as we had 1000 points on our last cruise we would get the sticker again. If we hadn't then as soon as we get 1000 on that cruise go back to the casino host and she would put the sticker on.

Hopefully this is still the case.

Also tying to book internet for 1 person, can that be done if 2 people are travelling .

You have to phone rccl to add the tips. To book the internet log Into your booking and at the bottom there should be book internet. Just follow the instructions and it'll add to your booking. Or you can book onboard.
