  1. Just a couple of photos that I forgot share! This will be a wonderful memory of a lifetime!
  2. One more beautiful pic that Princess took for us. If previous video did not make you cry, this one will! Such an amazing burial!
  3. Thank you all for the wonderful comments and responses! IMG_7127.mov IMG_7127.mov IMG_7127.mov IMG_7127.mov
  4. Okay, here I go again. If you don’t like the ducks, walk away. There are many people and kids that get joy of finding a personal message from someone from the ship. For me and my husband, this is my Mom’s first and last cruise. And I have bought the ducks with a small sticker on the back to memorize her on the little passport that was included. I hope if you find one on our 3/31/2024 short CA cruise I hope you will understand what is important to my Mom and to our family. This was her wish. I wish the best for everyone. Love and peace! The Sawyers
  5. Way too much good clean fun. I have twenty that I am taking with me the end of this month for my Mom’s burial at sea on the Discovery. I actually found a personalized sticker to put on the tag. I hope whoever finds our ducks will keep them knowing it was from an Angel looking down from heaven on our cruise. I have posted before, but this will be her first cruise and her last. RIP beautiful Mom! 😇
  6. I have not read a lot on this board, but after 15 plus cruises, I found my first duck and was thrilled! And then go figure we were at the bar with my new precious duck and the Duck donors were sitting right next to us. I just think this is an amazing fun thing to do. I have many I will be bringing on our next few cruises. My thoughts, be careful and thoughtful where you place them. There are negative comments. Don’t put anyone in danger. Happy cruising!
  7. Hello wonderful board members and again thank you for your amazing posts. Just one more question about the crew that helps us on this special occasion. Do we tip? I know this is very sensitive area. I did buy a few small gifts, a small key chain that says “dreaming of the sea” complete with a turtle and a book mark that has “thank you for being part of my story” printed on it. Just not sure what is appropriate. I think the small gifts will be appreciated. Funny, as an insurance agent, I have never been tipped 😀😆😢 Cheers to all!
  8. I think we will put the ashes in the biodegradable urn before we get on the ship. Pretty sure if we have the paperwork in place they will just let us through. This is so sensitive and everything I have read, Princess will help…
  9. Also, I wanted to add that there is spreading ashes vs a burial with biodegradable urn. One of the other posters that I actually spoke to were able to release the ashes. Due to many things that can go wrong (wind), that is why I decided to keep my Mom in the urn. I hope this helps…
  10. Thank you Bellebaby. Yes, this thread had meant so much to me as well! I did a lot of research and did not find any current info, hence the new thread. I think if I could help just one family, then my work is done. Happy travels and I hope you the most amazing ceremony!
  11. Desertdwellingsailor, I don’t think it is too late. Princess responding in one day. I think it would be wonderful to do both, burial at sea and planted with her favorite flowers. Again, I split the ashes so I could fulfill all of my Mom’s wishes. Reading everything on this post, Princess is wonderful and I am so thankful for this. Love and Hugs!
  12. My biodegradable urn came today. It is a beautiful turtle with all instructions and a glass turtle as a keepsake. I know this will be epic for my final final goodbye! Again, thank you for all that posted. I hope this will help someone in the future on their journey. Peace and Love for all!

  14. Here is a pic of my beautiful Mom. Just to add a face with this thread 🥰🥰🥲🪽
  15. Belle baby, I think that is a wonderful idea to share with your husband. He will be watching from above. Some of my Mom’s ashes were spread in the Colorado mountains, the exact spot where her husband of almost 50 years were spread a few years earlier so they would be together. This cruise was her wish, albeit alive. I hope she will enjoy from up above. Peace and good will!
  16. Thank you NASA. That will be my plan. I hope when I get the urn next week, it will have something that says the plastic bag is dissolvable.
  17. Interesting, just not sure to keep her ashes in the glass vial on the flight, then transfer ashes into the biodegradable urn before boarding on the ship. I did read the ashes need to be in the urn before boarding. The plastic bag that was with my purchase of the biodegradable urn said it was dissolving plastic. Really, just don’t want my mom to be confiscated. Thank you all for your feedback and ideas. Much appreciated!
  18. Thank you so much. This is a very special time to say goodbye. I think Princess has it figured it out. I hope I can come to some kind of closure and be at peace with my Mom. She was a wonderful woman and I hope she is watching.
  19. Thanks Mina, yes I checked with Southwest, flying into California and have the info for TSA. Can you tell me about your experience? Take Care!
  20. Thanks Rick and Jeannie, Yes, that is the correct email. They responded in one day which I thought was great. They will confirm with us once on the ship. I hope this helps others as she wanted to be buried near San Diego and they advised it should work. Looking for some current experiences. Take Care!
  21. Good day fellow Cruisecritics family. I have researched this topic, but just wondering if anybody had a recent experience. Will be on the Discovery next month and currently setting up a burial at sea for my Mom. I purchased a biodegradable turtle (her favorite) urn and am bringing her death certificate and cremation info. I want to also throw tulips and roses with her (also her favorites). I have the understanding that Princess is very respectable and this is a private time. I know I will be a mess, but she always wanted to go on a cruise. We booked one for us to go with her, but she got sick and passed before our sail date. So with that said, she will be going on her first cruise. Thank you in advance for you thoughts and sensitivity. The Sawyers
  22. We have been on two post Covid cruises 2021 and 2022 and getting ready to board Ruby in a few weeks. I just don’t understand entitlement. We found the medallion work perfectly, if we found food we did not like, we didn’t eat there. The night light is a safety feature for a lot of folks. Chairs were fine on the decks. Don’t spend much time anyway. So my point I am trying to do is a positive rant, but did not want to spend hours as OP did. Just do you and we will do us! Live and love life! Before you know it, it might be over!
