  1. I'm a retired travel agent and I'm pretty suprised that RCI and/or the individual ships are allowing this to happen. When I traveled with groups we were told by every cruise line that we were not permitted to solicit business in any way, shape or form (same when we traveled as individual passengers) while on the cruise and that doing so could cause the agency to lose its privileges with the cruise line. I can maybe see an agency with a group on board placing advertising for other sailings in or at their OWN GROUP'S cabins - or making announcements of such at group-only functions - but, to publically advertise even for the cruise line they are sailing on seems to fly in the face of the on-board booking process that the cruise line encourages. It's just my humble opinion, but I really don't want to see this while I'm relaxing on a cruise and it just feels wrong to me. JMHO.

  2. We are currently booked in cabin 8024 on a JS guar but am wondering about possibly grabbing a D1 aft/stern cabin if one opens up (we are Diamond, but am not holding out much if any hope for an upgrade to a GS, nor for a JS aft/stern to open). What is the current wisdom? I would be trading cabin size for balcony size and am also concerned about overhead noise on 8 Deck but wonder about any noise below the D1 afts??? I have a couple of months, but if something opens I'd love to jump on it to get that larger balcony. Opinions, please, and thanks.

  3. We are considering changing our cabin from cat 6 to 3 on our Romantic Rhine 2015 cruise, but just read a review indicating that there was a noise issue in the poster's cat 3 loft cabin and they were moved to the deck above. Might it just be that deck??? Before I make the change, can anyone shed light on this for me? I'd hate to end up regretting my decision. Thanks !

  4. Thanks, Grand Isle Joe ! I was able to get a photo late yesterday from the the shipyard and it's really a big change for that lower deck. These two new ships/boats now have elevator service and full staircase to the lowest deck and the category 3 cabins have a loft area raised 4 steps up from the cabin floor and sporting a window floor to ceiling window that reaches up into the next deck. I've attached the photo if you're interested. We love Tauck - what a great trip they offer!

  5. While I know that no one has sailed on her yet, can anyone shed some detailed light on the category 3 (loft) cabin and its window on this riverboat? None of the photos (which may actually be artist's renderings - hard to tell) seem to show this in the outside photos and I'd like to figure this out so that I can book as soon as the books open for next year. I've even checked the shipyard's photos, and none shows the port or starboard sides as they actually are. Tauck at this point can only say what's in the brochure and on their website, but I'd like more. Help and thanks!
