  1. I think you can still get hot chocolate in the dining rooms. Haven't had occasion to request it in the last few years, but I think it is still available there.

Yes, you can still request pots of hot chocolate in the dining room at breakfast.

  2. That's pretty much how our TA explained it for the 2015 cruise we just booked. The credit won't show to the customer until final payment, but she copied what was on her screen as a confirmation to me.

For those who haven't seen this, Princess has a "Bucket List Extravaganza" offer (until July 17, 2014) on some cruises in 2015, including the 14 day transatlantic which include both OBC (dependent on cabin type), and those Prepaid Gratuities (That's $322 total for us on a 14 day cruise). It is an offer worth looking at.

We plan on adding cash gratuities at the end of the cruise for those who go above and beyond, as usual.

Thanks for info about one of the current Princess sales - Bucket List Extravaganza. I was wondering if you have a link to that sale?

    Thanks, Karen

  3. Mini-suite name comes from old times when they did actually have some perks attached, like concierge access. NCL did away with those already years ago but the name stayed the same even though "deluxe balcony" would describe the cabins much better nowadays.

Do any of the mini suites have bath tubs?

  4. Thank You! Your comments help a lot. What helped me the most is I had no idea that people posted vacation videos on you tube!! A couple posted their land visit in 5 parts and showed me everything!! They showed walking through the Medina, Carthage ruins and museum, inside the Bardo and Sidi Bou Said. They also showed their food and where they ate.

After watching yours and theirs, I decided that I don't care if my teens get bored, I want to expose them to this history and culture. I may never be in this part of the world again. I have decided to try to squeeze everything in. There is an excursion that goes to Carthage, Medina, Bardo, SBS and a buffet lunch. We will be continually moving so the kids won't get too bored staying at one place too long.

Thanks for your kind help, I appreciate it!

We will be going to Tunis in early March on the Jade. Is this a ship excursion you are going on?

    Thanks, Karen

  5. Personally I think the only thing worth prepaying for would be the internet minutes or casino chips because they give you additional minutes for paying in advance and the casino chips can be converted to cash but that’s a topic for another thread. Everything else you can get when you board the ship. There is usually a table set up at every elevator with someone to sell you a soft drink package or to sign you up for wine tasting. It you manage to escape them someone in Horizon court or the MDR will be sure to ask you. If you are really trying to budget your money it’s much easier to add up all of the additional items and prepay your credit card or debit card before you go. I can do that from my computer at home or on my iPhone while I am waiting in the airport. It’s more trouble to print and fax a form and hope that an error isn’t made in the process. Just my opinion I am sure that those who prepay have a reason that works for them.

Our kids always purchase on board credits for us in lieu of birthday or holiday gifts if we have a cruise coming up. They know we'll use for specialty dining, shore excursions, or spa treats. It is fast and easy for someone to "gift" you with OBC. You need to give them your booking # and they can call Princess and tell them how much - I think it needs to be in increments of $25. I carry on with me copies of the emails received with the gift amounts in case there is any issue. Never have been although it may not show up right away on your OB acct. I like having the $$ already available.
