    Probably. The ticket office is only staffed on Tuesdays 8h00 - 13h00 / 14h05 - 16h00.

There is a ticket machine, but there could be a queue/line to use it.

There is an app called SNCF Connect, which you can install. You can buy and display tickets on that. It's not the easiest thing to use, it will want to know the names and birth dates of all the travellers that tickets are being bought for. However at least if the language of the phone is English it should default to that rather than French.

Excellent.  Thank you.  I will use the app and pre purchase.

  2. There also is priority tendering available at ports that require a tender to shore.  Talk with your Captains Club concierge onboard prior to that port day.  It gives you the opportunity to get off the ship as quickly as those who have an excursion booked with Celebrity.  We use it often and it is fantastic.

I suggest you ask your private tour operator for scheduling suggestions.  They should know what works at their location.

Do not presume you can get an early time.

I agree I need to plan ahead and will since we are a group of 10.  There are others on our roll call who are using the same vendor, so I expect everyone will be anxious to get ashore.

There is a new small dock at Mykonos now and on the July 4th sailing of Reflection we were assigned the dock and didn't have to tender, although there was a short complimentary shuttle ride to the edge of Mykonos Town. Got the feeling the captain never knew until the day of where the ship would be assigned, as it's up to the port authorities.

This is interesting.  Maybe we will know ahead of time if we do not need to tender there.  Thank you.

Sometimes, when the ship is fully booked, they use tickets.

Elite members get priority tickets and priority even without tickets.

Edge class has fantastic new "launches". Very comfortable and smooth.

On Santorini the tender port for ship tours is a different one then for individual passengers/tours. Usually the ship stops there first, people and then continues to the stop for regular tenders.

Thanks for the response.  We are elite but there is a total of 10 of us on a 9am tour, ship docks at 7am.  I will ask the Concierge to assist me in getting the group off early and will ask the other passengers if anyone else is Elite or Elite plus.    I know as of now, that we would meet the tour guide at the top of the gondola.

Do you mean there are different exit doors on the ship for Ship tours vs. non-ship tours?  I did not understand what you mean about two different tender ports.  I was not aware the ship transfers passengers at two separate land stops on that island.

  7. I would like to ask those of you who may be cruising in the Med this year about the process for tendering.  We will be on the Edge and have 3 tender ports:  Santorini, Mykonos and Cannes.  Does Celebrity issue tickets?  What is your experience to exit the ship for early private tours?

    Thanks.

If we're talking about the Bon Voyage 'gifts':

One (1) Bottle of booze, mixer and snacks.

Pretty pricey.  $100 for the basic brands, $130 for better brands.

Yes, it is pricey.  What is the room service price to purchase a bottle of liquor in comparison?

  9. Can someone explain what this Bar Set up is that can be purchased on the cruise planner?  What experience do you have with it?

We are not going to upgrade our Classic drink package but think buying some liquor for our cabin that is premium, will allow us options.  Does it contain 3 bottles of liquor plus set ups?

  10. I am looking for suggestions for a half day to 6 hour tour out of Rhodes in October.  I have checked several companies that either are full or not available.  I even received a quote from Shore Excursions for a private tour for 6-8 people, but it was $255 per person which is much too expensive.  I would like to get to Kallithea Springs.

If you're (still?) going to Souda Bay for Chania, I can help.  Beautiful, fun city.

I would like recommendations from Souda Bay area.  We will be in port October 4th.

Just a related story.  Many years ago DW and I were on the original Star Princess when she called at Santorini.  Late in the afternoon we tendered back to the ship and decided to go in the hot tub that was located on a top deck.  As we sat in that hot tub the sun gradually moved low in the sky and the reflected light off of Santorini was absolutely spectacular.  Over about a half hour we watched the light, colors, and shadows change as the sun set behind our ship.  Having spent far more than 1200 days on cruise ships (all over the world) this remains one of our fondest cruise moments.

You can read lots of old posts here on CC about going to Oia for sunsets (which we have done a few times) but that does not come close to that sunset from the sea.

    Hank

Thanks for the comments.  We hope to include this excursion.  I have emailed the company to find out more about it.

  13. Has anyone taken the sunset cruise out of Santorini offered by Shore Excursions company?  Our Edge sailing is in port there until 10pm and we are considering this evening event which is 4 hours starting at 4:15pm

There´s no private tour needed. Everyone has to take the ferries over from Naples to Capri. The ferry terminal is right next to the cruise terminal. At Capri Marina Grande - where the ferries dock - you find the boats going to the Blue Grotto (which is highly overrated). You can also book a roundtrip around the island including the Blue Grotto (but be aware you have to pay the entry fee for the Blue Grotto extra). The boats going around the island are small boats and it´s all small groups.

If you want to do an land based round trip there are plenty of taxis giving you a tour of the island.

Thank you.  I will plan this approach.

"Capri is my favorite island and I´ve been there many times over the last 38 years. As cruisemom42 said there´s always something different to explore there. Until last year I´ve never been to the Blue Grotto. Last year we´ve been there on a small sailing yacht and one other family wanted to go there (although our Captain didn´t want to). So we stopped right in front of the site, took our dinghies to get to the row boats and under the current circumstances it was sort of totally empty there. I guess that´s been the best we could do as we will never see it like this. But anyway the Blue Grotto won´t be my first choice in Capri. So many other things to do!

Can you make a recommendation for a tour once I take the ferry to Capri?  I have been trying to find a vendor or source.

Hi has anyone done a private tour to Capri and the blue grotto or any boat trips out of Naples please.

I am also looking for a tour in Capri from the port of Naples.  I will be watching to see if anyone makes recommendations to you.

  17. I am exploring a wine tour in Provence when our Edge cruise stops in October.  Is anyone familiar with Tour Designer in Provence Private Tours?  I have been in touch with this company and feel good about their offer of 2 wineries and the towns of Cassis and Castellet.  I would appreciate any feedback.
