I can't remember the last time they sent luggage tags in the mail.  Everything is done in your online account (shore excursions, dining and show reservations, check in, etc), that's why they are telling you to go to the website.

I believe that the Haven guests still get luggage tags in the mail.  Not positive about that but they should.

    Thanks for the info.

How does Room Service work generally in terms of fees? Does the $7.95 only apply to hot breakfast items or to any other time in general?

    This pretty much covers it:

Is Norwegian Cruise Line now charging for room service?

Norwegian Cruise Line has introduced an enhanced room service menu. The new menu offers an expanded selection for breakfast, in addition to a wider variety of options available 24 hours. Individual items on the menu remain available on a complimentary basis and a convenience charge of up to $7.95 USD will be added to each order placed (Morning coffee, continental breakfast and orders placed by guests sailing in The Haven will not attract a charge)*. Room service is one of up to 29 dining options offered across the fleet, and guests continue to be able to enjoy a wide array of complimentary choices onboard 24 hours a day.

    *Prices subject to change.

Read what you posted. You wrote "Once you step on the ship, you’re in the US. " That is wrong.

Also, it depends on if the cruise originates form Vancouver  but overall, I think you are wrong. It is quite easy to get off the ship, we had no issues whatsoever.

I don't quite understand how all this works but I checked the port website:

    Boarding

Passengers boarding a cruise ship at the Canada Place cruise terminal are encouraged to check travel documents before arriving at the cruise terminal to avoid unnecessary waiting. All passengers embarking in Vancouver will go through screening and U.S. Customs and Border Protection as you are considered to be entering U.S. jurisdiction upon boarding the cruise ship. Please visit the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website for more information and required travel documents

I'm looking for a couple days during our cruise to go to a beach and hang out with my 8/10 year old boys and wife.  I have lined up a couple excursions, but frankly don't want to be lazy and drop $300/day on organized cruise excursions and miss out on the real Hawaii experience.  We've never been.  Any ideas on 1. cool beaches to hang out on, and 2. how to get there?  I'm finding this trip to be a bit overwhelming due to the fact that it's difficult to get clean answers on what I feel are pretty simple questions.  On such and such island, go do this.  On another island, go do that.  Any help is much appreciated.  We will be on this cruise over Thanksgiving week 2019!  Thanks.

Welcome to the forum jimipig. Check out the link that was provided in post number two.  Lots of good info on beaches and the various islands

Thank you BirdTravels.  Appreciate the breakdown!  I am also glad you noted the additional tip for room stewart.  I was not even thinking about them!!  I was thinking the butler did it all 🙂 Very new for us and looking forward to this.

Just to be clear you are not obligated to tip the steward.  While the butler is not included in the DSC, the steward is.
