My local post office will not hold mail for more than 30 days and only once per year! Since then I had to get someone to collect it.

    ~Nancy

Same 30 day hold limit here. If I want to rent a mailbox I have to notify every person, company, newspaper, etc. that mails to me and give them the post office box number. Then of course when I return home I'd have to notify all of them again, telling them to use my street address and not the post office box number.

Solution: Give post office a letter telling them who will be picking up my mail. Fill out how many of the yellow "hold mail" forms - each for 30 days, dates of course changing on each.  Give forms to a friend along with copy of my letter to post office. Every 30 days my friend takes the next hold mail form to the post office and hands it in, and then picks up my 30 days of mail after showing her ID.

Or she could just come to my house every day and pick up the mail but that's a lot of running for her.

My post office and I greatly differ on their procedure but it's not my decision to make.

  2. Wow! So many wonderful memories this brings back!

One of my favorite memories is our first trip to Europe when we sailed the 11-10-03 Oosterdam Med-T/A out of Lisbon.  It was a Big Band Cruise and was absolutely wonderful!!! The band had about 10 members and there was both a male and female vocalist. Every performance the band wore tuxedos as did the male vocalist. The female vocalist wore a different evening gown every night. The music and singing were so wonderful!  The dance floor was packed!

Several times during the day I saw some of the performers around the ship, mingling with the guests, socializing, playing cards, etc.

It was magical and such a class act.

    Pete,

Sounds like a nice wine tour. Can you share the name of the tour operator ?

Do have a look at the topic ‘Tips for Azamara Newbies’ and it’s associated spreadsheet

I had started reading the first few pages but from the dates they were posted I felt a lot of the information might no longer be accurate.   HOWEVER, you came to the rescue with your new "Tips For Azamara Newbies"  post - I love it!  Thank you so much!

  5. Thank you for your very helpful reply.  I've read the wine posts but I'm not familiar with any of those that are in the standard offerings but I'll be trying them though.

Yes, I am aware the Chef's Table Dinner is an extra cost but it sounds interesting. I'm on board for 19 nights so I'll very likely try the special dining venues.

The more reading up on Azamara I do the more I'm looking forward to my cruises.

    Thank you again.

  6. I will be sailing Azamara for the first time, doing a B2B on the Journey next Fall.  My booking states Inclusive Amenities for all guests that includes standard spirits, International beers and wines.  However when looking at the Azamara web site it only states wine with lunch and dinner.

Are cocktails and alcoholic drinks throughout the cruise or are they a separate charge?

Does the dining package pricing include the "perfectly matched wines"?

Looking forward to sailing Azamara but just want to get a clearer picture of inclusions, etc.

    Thank you!

I sure wish they had something along those lines.  I remember the talent shows of years ago on other lines.  They would even hold auditions.  It was always amazing the talented folks onboard.  I will never forget one woman who could sing Patsy Cline better than Patsy Cline.

When we saw the talent show listed one night we didn't think much of it but decided to walk by.

It was SRO; we stopped and were amazed at all the talent and what fun it was to be entertained by them.  One elderly gentleman came on stage in a dark suit, black hat, and did "New York, New York" - he had the Sinatra build and moves - the crowd just loved it. What a fun night and great memory.

  8. I will be having several sources of significant onboard credit on an upcoming Holland America cruise.

Is there an order in which source onboard purchases are deducted from?

Would any unused OBC be refunded to me?

    Thank you.

We're not going on a cruise, but booked two days of private wine tours with Explore Sideways for January 2023.  They were recommended by our South African travel agent/safari operator. I worked with them to customize the tastings by selecting the vineyards and wines.

Thank you. I read up on them and will be contacting them for more information. Have also gotten information on Wineflies, another tour operator whose tour includes food pairings, which is quite interesting.
