Good news.  Just checked my CC and our refund was just posted for our Eclipse cruise on March 30 which was cancelled on Feb 14 and we asked for a refund.  That's 75 days when we were told 30 days.

Sorry about the date and number of days I posted earlier.  It was late last night and when I checked the date on Celebrity's email, it only showed Feb 14. on it.  That must have been the date I booked it.  As pointed out by cjcruiser27 above, it was March 14 and only 46 days to receive a refund.  I think I've totally lost track of time anyways. :classic_mellow:

Today I received a full refund to my X Visa card for the March 30 Coastal sailing of Eclipse, which was cancelled by Celebrity on March 13.  I requested the refund on the 14th.

Sadly, as I look out my window this morning I see Eclipse still here in San Diego, docked next to Disney Wonder.

Thanks for your update.  We were on the same cruise and requested refund on same date, but nothing yet.

  3. Don't know about cruises out of LA, but it will be sailing out of Seattle on April 20, 25 and 30th at excellent balcony rates.  And on May 11, it does an 11 day Alaska cruise ending in Vancouver at $100 USD/person/day for all balcony categories up to AQ1.  Hurry, $1099 for an AQ1 is a special deal.

  4. If you like the tried and true program and layout of regular ships, then the Equinox.  If you're looking for something wild and very different, then perhaps the Edge.  For us seniors, we prefer the tried and true.  We've been on the new Millennium and Summit which we enjoyed, however 10 days on the Edge which was more than enough for us.

Yeah I thought I remembered them having roast beef, corned beef, pastrami, turkey and griddled hot dogs.....

Usually each day they have a carving station with beef, pork, chicken/turkey or ham.  Unfortunately I've never seen corned beef or pastrami.   Hot dogs, burgers and fries are outside by the pool.

If you go on the other side of the Marriott there is a visitors center where you can book many tours.  Point of interest, across the street from the visitors is the oldest operating minor league baseball park.

The lobster roll roll at the food truck is made with mayo. There is a restaurant down the street that makes them with butter, I’ll see if I can find the name.

The Lobster Shack is only open Fri - Sun, 11:30 - 6:00.  Unfortunately we'll be there on Thursday.  Any other recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks for info.  We are looking at doing the TP to Tokyo in September.  How did you find the noise from the floor above in your cabin?  Having trouble finding 3119 on the deck plans - can someone direct to where about it is?

Google “cruise deck plans” or go to cruisedeckplans.com to see the new cabins recently installed.  3119 is midship near the mid elevators.  They are similar to the ones on the starboard side.

Getting on the ship was pretty easy no long lines no standing in the rain. Lifeboat drill was 5:00pm, our Station was in the  Rendezvous bar, we ended up sitting at the bar however they pack like 650 people in the lounge many left standing, lots of unhappy people. My prayers  answered as they did not show that terrible 007 safety video, they just went through the life jacket procedure and where to go if you heard the  emergency drill signal,  of course they call that all the cabin numbers of those who did not show up for the lifeboat drill in our case it was only like eight or 10 cabins so I was surprised how few people did not show up and that’s a good thing . Graeme captains Club host Spoke about what to do when to be quiet etc. he did have quite a humorous presentation made the time go a little bit quicker.

Hi Norma - Very glad to hear that Graeme is the CC host.  He is amazing and was a lot of fun last year.  Thanks for all the pictures and comments.  We'll be joining you in Vancouver and it'll be interesting to compare the Millennium with our previous Edge cruise.

Looking forward to meeting you and Sharon.

    Cheers,

Interested in what was great on your cruises on the EDGE. Wasn't the terrible food we had every day. Wasn't the atmosphere, there wasn't one, wasn't the extremely loud music was it. Wasn't the terrible seating was it. Wasn't the absence of color on the ship. What did you call the show at the EDEN? Children playing? What did you call the lunch at the EDEN? How did you sleep on the rock hard bed? Wasn't the absence of seating at the martini bar was it? The only positive on that ship was the staff. They were hand picked and the best ever. The EDGE was the worst cruise we took out of 70 cruises. I really hope they change many things. nothing to do on that ship but drink and eat. Deal or No Deal game was nothing but a rip off of $25.00. Most any winners only got some match play at the casino. The only one that made out was the person picked to play. The magic carpet is nothing but a gimmick and a joke. The few times it was available to get on. You could never get on it to get a drink. that is when it was open for that. packed. Dining on it was impossible with the heavy winds. Table cloths blowing off of the table and the womens hair getting totally messed up. A stupid idea for sure. Expecting to use the magic carpet and the nice boats they bragged about to go to shore was a major let down. Same old, same old. Asked why. Cannot use the magic carpet with the standard boats. Our boats do not hold enough people. So what you see in the videos is nothing more than a lie. Maybe they use them when they go to there island. The EDGE a total let down. Like sailing on a hotel and nothing more.

Well, we agree with twodaywonder, and we've been on about 70 cruises too.  We were on the Edge for 10 days and while there were some nice things, we were disappointed also with all the things mentioned above plus more.  However, we are going on the Millennium next month in hopes that things haven't been spoiled on the M class ships.  :classic_sad:

Acquaintances in two different Aqua cabins were very unhappy with the longer bed combined with the television sticking out from the wall - making walking around the cabin not only tight, but potentially harmful - as evidenced by their shoulder bruises from the bumping into the corner of the TV.

That's the way it was on the Edge too with the "Cashmere" beds.  Guess we'll just have to be more careful on all the revolutionized ships.  :classic_unsure:

Looking forward to hearing about the revolution. I would love your opinion on the mattresses. I had posted on the revolution thread and got iffy answers. We have never had an issue on Celebrity with mattresses but on Royal my parents lug a topper to make it bearable, even after the revolution. I would love not to lug a topper to Alaska this summer so looking forward to an opinion!

I've mentioned before that the new Cashmere mattresses are very firm and we needed some sort of "topper" when we were on the Edge.  I phones Captain's Club today and asked if they still had a mattress topper.  He advised that they no longer carry the "egg crate" type toppers for sanitary reasons.  But they do have a "quilt" that they can put on to make it a little bit better.  It was a bit better when we had one on the Edge.  I hope we can get 2 quilts when we go on the Millie in May.  :classic_unsure:

How are the mattresses. We are sailing in an inside this summer. Reading reviews from pre-revolution that they were horrible. My parents take an egg crate in a space bag when cruising Royal. Never had an issue with the celebrity mattress before but wondering. Any input?

We were on the Edge for 10 days, experiencing the new "very firm" Cashmere mattress that they are putting on all ships.  After a couple of days we asked for a mattress topper, but they didn't have any, but they could put a "quilt" cover on top of the mattress.  It helped a bit, but still extra tough on my wife who is all of 120 lbs.  For heavier people, they may be more comfortable on these firm mattresses.  Personally, I am looking for an egg crate to take along as we'll be on board for 14 days - but I can do it easily because I live in Vancouver.

Celebrity made a lot of changes that we didn't like on the Edge.  :classic_sad:   However we have our fingers crossed that we will still like and enjoy the Millennium. :classic_unsure:

I agree a new ship is always something special- the smell- everything looks brand new- the beds have very little " history" - LOL!

And we thought the new "Cashmere" bed would make a nice impression, but it was so firm we hardly left a dent! :classic_sad:

Since I also sailed the EDGE in December and am Elite Plus, I can agree with just about everything you said except that I did enjoy the 4 MDR's  but Tuscany was my last favorite. To each his own.

I do think if you cruise in a suite on the EDGE, it is a TOTALLY different experience and I also think some things like music in the Grand plaza have improved reading recent reviews. But there is nothing  X can do about the infinite balcony aka  the oceanview with a window that lowers. (I know some people like it, but the majority do not.)

However, the Club does remind me of places I went to when I was quite young and just of legal age to drink. Mainly dark nd dingy. I did not find the Club inviting at all and I so missed the Sky Lounge..  And I kept thinking, who is going to relax in those brown chaises in the Club?  Not great layout of seating by the bar area at all IMO.

This is why I think I'll be sticking with the M and S class ships for now. At least the updates to those ships are not taking away true balconies, the Sky Lounge, Rendevous Lounge, and hopefully, not the Ensemble Lounge.

I would love to be able to afford a suite each time I cruise, as I do enjoy Michaels Club/ Luminae, but then I would be. cruising a whole lot less.

i know some will not agree with me, but this is just my opinion.

    Hi ecslady,

Your are completely right, I meant to say Normandy restaurant was our favorite, not Tuscany.  (Got my languages mixed up.)  Thanks for noticing my mistake and I do agree with all your comments.  We are hopeful we'll enjoy the new Millennium in May.

By the way we'll be over your way in the fall going on the Adventure OTS and staying downtown NJC.  Great area with so much to see.  Also a chance to visit my cousin nearby.

    Dave
