  1. Thanks for the comments and reviews of your trip. We are on July 6 sailing Seward to Van on the Muse. We opted for the bus and I’m pretty sure that we pick up bus at Egan Center as well. Curious as to what time you boarded in Seward? Also, any comments on the included wines?

    Thanks

  2. Follow-up question on the OBC through Amex. We are booked on Muse Alaska-Van in July. We went through TA and paid with Amex Platinum. When I called Amex to ask about the OBC/Champagne benefit I was told we are eligible for $200 OBC and the Champagne. I asked what we needed to do and was told just show your AMEX when checking in on the cruise. Is this everyone else’s experience or do you do something specific to get the OBC and Champagne?    Thanks

  3. Taking our first Silversea cruise in January 2019 to Australia/New Zealand. Would prefer not to take my tuxedo but do not want to feel underdressed. Any thoughts on the relative proportion of men wearing tuxedos versus dark suits on formal nights?

Just got off the Spirit cruise in Baltics a few weeks ago. Did not see any tuxedos. I only brought sports jacket and slacks and the 1 formal night put on a tie. You will be fine with suit.

  4. Leaving Stockholm today via Munich and back to US. Will post a full review after we settle in back home. All we can say is anyone booked on the Spirit is in for a treat and great time. A few more pictures from lovely Stockholm.

  5. 2nd day in St. Petersburg. We had an early start for our tour and ordered breakfast room service and it arrived promptly at 6am. Delight to eat breakfast gazing at St. Petersburg. SilverSea Tour was excellent. Tour included Russian lunch that was delicious with some vodka! Also included was caviar with pancake and sour cream, borscht soup (served hot), beef stroganoff and apple cake for dessert. Delicious lunch in a very pretty restaurant near Catherine’s Palace.

Dinner tonight at Silver Note. The concept has changed slightly. Now offering appetizer and main course and not small plates. The space is sophisticated and the singer and piano player were excellent. A few photos from the day.

Our cruise is coming to an end in just a few days. We are hanging on to the remaining time as the trip has been fantastic and Silver Sea continues to exceed our expectations.

  6. Have not seen these flip flops on our current cruise. I will try and ask before we leave. Only have used and seen the slippers. My wife asked for smaller slippers and they were brought in minutes.

  7. We sailed into St. Petersburg at 8am local time today. It was really exciting watching the tug pull us into the port. It was sunny and beautiful to watch from the top deck. We had scheduled 2 tours for the day through SilverSea; Hermitage and Faberge. Everything was very organized and happy with our decision to go through SilverSea. We left the ship at 9am and returned at 630 pm. Dinner at The Grill/Hot Rocks tonight. A few pictures from the day. The first two were taken as we were sailing into the port.

We are continuing to thoroughly enjoy the cruise and the excellent service from SilverSea (in addition to the exciting and fun ports).

  8. Exploring Tallinn today. We walked 7.5 miles. Beautiful city with great character and cobblestone streets. Sailing to St. Petersburg right now and enjoying dinner at La Terrazza and watching beautiful sunset. A few pictures from our day with MDW upon return to ship later today.

  9. Quickie question for you.....was that lovely Chianti an "included" wine?

Also drooling over the LP Rose champers....mmmmmm!

Loving your photos! Only in Denmark can you find little hearts carved into the guard huts!

Yes, Chianti Clasico was included. The wine tasting featured 4 wines from Italy. All were a surcharge in the dining rooms. Prices were between $45-$65. Kerolina the sommelier is super nice and walks around all the restaurants greeting the guests. Will post more.

  11. Fun day in Copenhagen

We walked in to town just after breakfast today. We were docked about 2 miles away from Nyhavn. Our timing was perfect. As luck would have it, we literally walked in to the changing of the guards at the Royal Residence. We still cannot get over how friendly the Danes are. The police were politely answering questions and keeping everyone orderly throughout “the dance” of the guards.

We stopped in to the Design Museum and my wife was in heaven. Outstanding collections (and good people watching too).

After several hours we returned to the ship (and stopped in to a shop on the way to purchase several different flavors of a local delicacy- licorice). Yum! And it makes for nice gifts, too.

Back at the ship we had a delicious lunch at Spaccanapoli. Thanks to all the others who have posted we were prepared for a pizza-only menu. A way to sneak in our veggies was to be sure and order the arugula topped pizza. We ordered both pies ‘well done’ aka extra crispy. That paired with a crisp white wine and we were happy campers. Photos attached.

This afternoon we went back to the thermal spa and enjoyed a fabulous steaming (but mind you, not too hot) hot tub soak all the while watching a cold rain come down. For those not aware, the hot tub is under cover and is accompanied by lounges. Just steps away- inside are hot stone lounges, and a steam and sauna room. My wife and I purchased a weekly pass to the thermal spa and it comes out to $10 a day per person. The spa on the Spirit only sells 12 of these passes per voyage so it is a pure delight to enjoy the quiet and the lovely amenities.

We had a lovely dinner at La Terrazza. The sunset was bright pink and orange! What a sight to behold over our glasses of Chianti! We shared the ever popular duck ragu pappardelle. I had the Osso Bucco and MDW had the Branzino. It’s easy to request any type of wine. The servers are happy to accommodate any tastes.

We are back in our veranda suite as the ship heads to Visby, Sweden.

I will try to share more travels as the cruise.

    Happy Sailing.

  12. My wife and I boarded the Spirit today in Copenhagen. The entire Process was seamless and efficient. We stayed at the Skt. Pertri hotel (as did many other passengers) and were transferred in record time to the ship. The transfer departed the hotel (in the city center) at 12 noon sharp. By 12:30 pm we were already checked in and sipping champagne in Dolce Vita. What a start!

Our first Spirit cruise (which was wonderful) was in 2010, and it has even improved since then.

After a delicious lunch in La Terrazza we explored the entire ship. Now we understand what all the Arts Cafe chatter was all about. The space is gorgeous, cheerful, inviting and sophisticated. Also, Silver Note’s redo is beautiful. Photo of both spaces, attached.

This evening we had a lovely dinner in Atlantide. Staff has overwhelmingly (in a positive way) been friendly and attentive.

Our room is beautiful. We are in a mid-ship veranda suite on the 9th floor. Our butler is excellent. He truly wants to provide an outstanding experience for us. And, he is succeeding.

Weather was beautiful today but very cool. Many were bundled with coats. But, all had smiling faces. We are all happy to be onboard this fabulous ship.

As a point of reference this 7 day cruise has 3 casual, 1 formal, and 3 informal evenings. Below are a few photos from today.

We will try to post a few additional photo experiences throughout the cruise. And, I will write more at the conclusion of the cruise.

Frank from the Netherlands is the head Sommelier. He will get you whatever you want! Great, friendly (really tall) guy!

Thanks so much for this info. I really appreciate it. We're not picky, It's just we have our restaurants for the week lined up and if I see the pours that are available we don't have to waste anyone's time.
