  1. We have had cabin 7150 twice and will again in Oct. It is an awesome cabin, closet & balcony. We book as soon as the itineraries are released.

We've also stayed in JS 8088 center aft. It didn't feel any smaller. The closet was plenty roomy, although not as amazing as the walk in. The balcony was nice, too.

The "corner" aft cabins on deck 7 of the Grandeur are the only JS's that have the WIC. We had 7150 in Dec. 2015 and the closet was to die for. Loved the big corner balcony too.

Your cabin should be fine, but will not have the WIC. Cabins are roomy though. Loved it.

Any aft cabin is great, in my opinion...just hard to get at times.

  2. I love morning coffee & pastries while I journey and just watch the sea or pulling into port. Breakfast on the balcony on early port days. Afternoons reading and relaxing on the loungers (we stay in a JS) when it's so noisy on the pool deck. Wine before dinner. Cocktails and/or late night snacks before going to sleep. I love the balcony. I especially love the aft, which is where we were the past 3 cruises (and the next one).

  3. Wouldn't that be fun? We'll be back on Grandeur the next two Octobers.

Read your blog. Really enjoyed reading through it. Picked up some tips of things we will need to add to do on this trip. Any other tips/suggestions? Ya'll (yes; I'm southern) look like a fun couple to hand with. Maybe someday we will meet. Thanks again for the blog.

    Thank you.

To the OP. Thanks you for your outstanding review with all those family great photos moments. Just Outstanding !!!!
  4. We are on Grandeur in a few weeks as well. Been reading on here about terrible mattresses. Can anyone who has been on Grandeur recently comment & advise on their mattresses? Thanks

We were on Grandeur in November of 14 and 15. Both mattresses were comfy.

Enjoy. We love Grandeur. I have links to my reviews in my signature if you are interested.

  5. The ship uses an Island Oasis mixer. I've developed a pretty tasty alternative.

1 c. good quality vanilla ice cream

1 oz. each vanilla Vodka, Bailey's Irish Cream, Kahlua

    Splash of half and half

    Squirt of chocolate syrup

Ice if you want it thicker

Blend all of that in the blender until smooth. Pour into a glass that has been drizzled with chocolate syrup down the inside.

  6. This is the same exact cruise we are doing :)

Can you tell me which nights were formal nights?

Are the pools heated? Since some of the days it is cold- I was just wondering :)

The 2nd and 9th nights were formal nights.

My husband said the pools were cold the entire trip.

Have fun! We love Grandeur. We're doing a 12 night southern trip next year and taking our 3 sons and daughter in law.

  7. Our first experience booking a suite was our first cruise.

Originally we booked a 9 night trip on Explorer for April '11 in a balcony room. Then those dates ended up not working for us, so we rebooked a 10 night Explorer cruise for Nov. '11. We were able to snag a GS for only $300 total more than what we would have paid for the balcony in April, so that was a no brainer! And it was an amazing deal.

In Nov. '13 we also booked a GS on Explorer thinking we'd have a price drop, which didn't happen, but we loved having that same room.

In Nov. '14 we booked a JS on Grandeur on the aft and LOVED it. Although when we walked in we both said, "This may be a little tight." LOL. It was a great room. We've now booked a JS on Grandeur for this November and next November; both on the aft.

Since we take longer cruises, I like having more room and a bathtub. I do miss that GS though, and watch for deals. But the aft...I just love the aft.

  8. I don't wear a slip with all of my dresses/skirts, but there are two that are very gauzy, that are very sheer in bright light, so I do wear one with those. I found a maxi length slip on Amazon for $20ish. Just a regular slip, but it does hide the panty lines, which I also appreciate.

  9. I’ve looked at several of the compasses and it looks like Café Latitudes opens at 7 every day, be it a sea day, early arrival in port or late arrival in port. On embarkation day it opens at 11. I was expecting it to be closed for disembarkation, but the “As you depart” sheet I got tonight says it is open. It doesn’t five hours but I assume the usual 7AM.

    Thanks Roy.
