MSC Divina - December 10, 2013 from Miami
7" of snow here in Jefferson, MD. Better now than Tuesday when we fly out.
Wow! Looks wonderful For everyone not having to travel! Be Safe! Nancy & I were in Nashville visiting our daughter & family with the ice storm coming our way. We were fortunate to leave Friday morning going to Franklin, North Carolina to scope a home remodel & then Saturday coming back home in Florida to get packed & prepare for the cruise. So we missed the mess up there. Wearing our beads as we board so we can meet others ahead of the M&G on Wednesday. Rodger & Nancy
Hello All, I have just been reading some of the thread here, and you all seem like such a jovial and witty bunch that I just wanted to say 'hello' and wish everyone happy cruising :) I know it is very last minute and I don't want anyone to go to the trouble of adding us to the list. We are actually in the likely minority group of first-time cruisers and are very thrilled Floridians who can't wait to finally use our new passports. So, hello to all and to all a fantastic cruise!
Welcome & share with us a little about yourselves so we can get better acquainted at the M&G. It is always nice to hear from 1st time cruisers about their impressions of the cruise. This group is full of experience that will benefit us all as noted on this roll call. We can't wait to meet everyone also. Blessings, Rodger & Nancy We are going to wear our color beads in case we run into anyone the first day. Also, Are we going to have an informal meet & greet at the sailaway deck party?

Well, I haven't even started cruise packing for we have a Thanksgiving road trip first up to Huntsville, Al to be with our kids & grands. We leave this Sat. so I'm packing "winter" for that. Once back home around the 6-7th then I'll get in "high" gear on the cruise packing. We've done several cruises so I have a master list & can do it pretty quickly. We just got the e-mail yest. from MSC with our luggage tags--this is the only cruise line that hasn't just posted them online with your docs to print all together. But at least we have them now. And we booked right thru MSC. Once back from our family trip then I'll get all wrapped up for the cruise--excited to meet everybody on this board. Nancy & Rodger
Is anyone interested in doing this during our day in Jamaica? I saw the following post on CC. going to Jamaica and using Time N Place as a base point. http://www.mytimenplace.com/cruisedaypasspackages.htm ($20 pp, but maybe we can get a better price if we go as a group) Barbara & Tom
Barbara & Tom, We are interested in Time & Place as we are planning our day in Jamaica. Let us know if you are still going. According to the cruise day package, it includes pick up & return one minute from cruise port for the $20. We see Terry/Cindy & Juanita/Angelo are also interested. Could be a real fun day together. We also love to snorkel & bring our own gear.

Nancy & I have been working out at a local gym for 6 months now & our instructor decided to have a line dance aerobic class featuring the "Wobble". Then on top of that he had the zumba instructor in every other dance to do zumba dancing. It about wore us out but what great aerobics. So if we all practice we can have some fun doing the blurred & Wobble dances while on board. Just have to see if the Divina entertainment team can come up with the music. If they are like the MSC Poesia team we will all have a great time with all they get us involved in. Rodger
How we met!! Rodger's version. Nancy's mom worked for me & Nancy just moved back from Texas to Ohio after her divorce. She came into the store one day with her two little blond girls because her mom wanted her to meet me. I told her I had just purchased a 15' ski boat & invited her to take a ride with her girls. She said to meet at her boat dock that Saturday. (Little did I know that she also invited some guy from work to also come take her for a ride in his fancy boat - I found out later he also owned an airplane) Well, I was the only one that showed up & now with 4 children & 9 grand children we are married almost 40 years.
Pretty accurate there, sweetie!!! You showed up & the rest is "history"! You were much better looking than the guy with the airplane!!!N

Little Flower You say you were 14 when you met Angelo and married at 15... I thought that was only legal in West Virginia. LOL That is so neat Cuca. Lots to celebrate on this cruise. We never know where or when the love bug is gonna bite us in the butt! I may have mentioned our anniversary is on Dec. 24th. Another reason to toast! PEEKYMAN… I at 15 which was many years ago a Hispanic girl didn't date unless the chaperone was in between the couple .Our love was so strong we wanted to be together and my mom said the only way was to get married .I was so young the priest had to ask permission from a hierarchy to be able to marry us .In our culture at that time if you were not married by the age of 16 you were am old maid. But I thank God that he put Angelo in my way, because in my eyes a better man than him didn’t exist .He helped me finish school and follow my dream to go into Cosmetology which afforded us, as a hard working couple a very nice lifestyle .I know you were joking about West Virginia, that’s a far throw from my situation. That’s the reason why I like you .You have a great sense of humor. La cucaracha
Looking forward to meeting everyone & putting faces with their stories!!! N & R
Well, it's not as romantic as those of you who have been together for years and years - first marriages....but here goes... We were both married to others for 24 years....Tom saw me at a party and the way he puts it, "she was flitting around and I couldn't keep my eyes off her"... The feeling wasn't mutual, I have to say....I was more outgoing and Tom was more reserved. A few years later, we divorced and got married. Will be married 22 years November 30th so we also will be toasting to our anniversary on the cruise!
We were both married before but will be celeb. early our 40th anniv. on this cruise! Looking forward to meeting you on the dance floor & I'll e-mail you on plans to share a ride to do some snorkeling together. N
We met through eHarmony, though we're not photogenic enough to make it onto a commercial. ;) Ironically, we had both been on Carnival Ecstasy earlier that year, but on adjoining weeks. It's ~5 hours from Galveston to home, so we probably passed each other along the way. Like ships passing in the day, I guess? We found out that we worked about 1/4 mile from each other. Later, we discovered that we had the the same bedroom furniture, though she had bought hers in a different state and at a military post exchange (whereas I got mine from Target).
Enjoyed your story!
I was a record producer for CBS Records in Nashville and my brother lived in Mathews, Va. I would come spend a couple of weeks each year with he and his family. A mutual friend asked if I would go to church with him one Sunday and accompany him on acoustic guitar. I agreed not knowing it was a setup he had arranged for me to meet Cindy. We hit it off instantly and dated on Monday and married a year later at Opryland Hotel in Nashville. I retired to Mathews and we’re in love more today than when we first fell in love. You ladies haven’t cornered the market on mushy just yet. LOL Peekyman
LOVE your story--so excited to meet all you fellow cruisers & have a great cruise!
We also look forward to meeting everyone. This seems like such a fun group of genuinely nice people. I hope it is every bit as good as my last blind date. My husband and I were (as we say in Hebrew) a modified shidduch, a match made by an old jewish lady who had never met either one of us, just knew his parents and my friend. That was how I met my husband. - any other blind date stories out there, or stories of how you met? Chat with everyone soon -Allison
How we met!! Rodger's version.
My hunny wore a suit everyday for the 33& yr's of his career. He now wears a nice sport coat, dress pants & a nice shirt & he looks very "dapper". On all of our cruises we've seen quite a variety of "dress" on Formal nights. So whatever you feel comfortable in--go for it. I usually wear long dresses those nights. We were on the Poesia a few yrs. ago but don't remember if there were any late night buffets. With dinner so late--we were plenty full for the night. Our port plans are: Jamaica--take the free transportation in the morning to Montego Bay (may snorkel there) & look around there then back to Falmouth & just walk & see the Georgian homes, etc. there. Aruba--we've done the Jolly Pirates snorkel trip twice now & it's wonderful. You have to take a taxi or bus to get there so we're familiar with their bus system. This time we plan to take a bus/buses around the island to see the lighthouse, natural bridge, etc. 7 possible take our snorkel gear & just go off the shore near some rock areas. Curacao--we've walked the entire town area there so this time plan to share a taxi with someone who wants to go to a snorkel beach-Playa Porta Maire was suggested. Cristobal--we did the full Canal transit a few yrs. ago so will prob. just walk the city, take a few pix & then relax on the ship. Cozumel--we've done several diff. snorkel trips there so this time we want to share a rental car & just drive around the island, stopping at nice beaches, snorkeling if there is a reef near the shore. Anyone want to join in--you're welcome. Esp. we need traveling companions to share a ride in Curacao & Cozumel. Rodger & Nancy from FL.
Re-posting this for so far no response on any "shared rides".
Little flower what are you doing under those covers??.We fly in the day before and our flight arrives at 9:30 in the evening travel time is 9 1/2 hours and we are staying at the Double Tree By Hilton Grand Hotel Biscayne Bay (North Bay Shore Miami)...We were told it is is not to far from the port??.. ( any thoughts). We booked so long ago we got a great rate. When we cruised out of Miami before we had a few days before and stayed on Colins Ave spent most of our time on Lincoln Rd...( loved the street)..yes i heard about the beads I am not sure about the red i looked and i can find the beads but not red...so maybe we could wear any colour of beads ...(i really don,t think there will be many people wearing mardi gras beads roaming the ship)...
Any color beads will do for us as I believe you are right about no one else having beads. We did a short Bahamas cruise in August & were suppose to carry a rolled up daily cruise newsletter in our hand at our meeting place at the stretch bar on the "Enchantment of the Seas" & never did find anyone from our CC group. Did see one person that was tearing up her rolled up newsletter but could not get to them in time. One thing about a short 4 day cruise is it is not enough time to get to know each other ahead of time like here where we have lots of imput! The beads will do fine:)!! Rodger & Nancy
