We were on over Christmas and New Year and the pool towels had been removed from cabins to storage shelves by the pools. We thought this was an improvement especially as you could take as many as you liked.

We are flying out on TUI to join Britannia on 16 December from Manchester. We always have premium economy because we like the extra space and attention and we like to sit together at the side as I refuse to be in the middle seat anymore (done that and got several t shirts). Looking at what we have paid, the invoice says “air add on” and it is £998 for the 2 of us. This might include the £100 each penalty for flying from Manchester rather than Gatwick, I am not sure. Anyway that is the cost. When we went last Christmas to join Azura it took 5 hours queuing before we were able to board the plane so hope the airport will have got itself sorted out over the next few months.

With today’ gloomy news about the finances of all of us how will P&O find themselves? I ask as back in 2008 when we had the last real financial crisis, we were on Ventura’s maiden Christmas and New Year jolly around the Caribbean. There had been so many cancellations by people unable to pay the final balance for the cruise that cabins were being sold off at crazy prices which unfortunately attracted a few undesirables to the extent there were fights and other unsavoury goings on. So will the same happen this year? And how would this affect the introduction of Arvia?

We are thinking of taking a cruise from Southampton. As we live in Cheshire, we don’t really want to have to drive ourselves and have been looking at Eavesway who can pick up from 2 places quite close to us. Can anyone give any feedback on Eavesway. Are they reliable? Will the ship wait if the coach is delayed??
