  1. http://www.hoteldealsrevealed.com is another good source for seeing what hotels are available. There's always risk and there's no sure fire way of knowing for certain 100% what you'll get. BUT... you can usually get it right most of the time, and you'll certainly know the calibre of hotel you'll get. Just remember that Priceline reservations are non-refundable, so don't be too disappointed if you don't get what you were expecting.

+1 I like this site, but as many have said, you're gambling on hotel discounts when you buy on Priceline. For me, I strongly suggest only using Priceline if the discount is worth the risk. So don't waste your time if you're only saving $10 or so. Put in a low ball offer (like 50%), so even if its not quite the hotel you wanted, you're still saving a ton of money.

Hotwire is a little riskier, but still some risk, so look for a 25% or greater discount there.

  2. Hi

Have seen so many beautiful pics of Vancouver, where do you think the best spots are for picture taking. I am a mountain person! We will have a rental car.

Also, I am looking for a 3 star hotel..between Vancouver and the airport. Suggestions?

Will be dropping the rental car back at the airport...and then heading to Ballantyne Pier. Is the taxi my best option? thanks for the help!

There aren't any mountains around Vancouver until you go north, passed Stanley Park. These are the mountains you see in the backdrop of most photos of Vancouver.

  3. So I've been researching hotels on betterbidding.com and the Westin Bayside is coming up frequently. Anyone have any feedback on that hotel? How is the location? We are leaving out of Canada Place. I just can't decide whether it is worth paying the extra money for the Pan Pacific or just risking a 4* bid on priceline.

Thanks to everyone on this thread who provides all the great info!!!!!

The Marriott Pinacle also comes up frequently for around $80/night http://www.hoteldealsrevealed.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=242

I have stayed there and it is a good hotel, brand new. Good location, close to Canada Place. My only disappointment was that the pool was closed during my stay, but they arranged for me to have access to the pool at a hotel across the street.

Given the choice between the Marriott Pinacle and the Sandman, I would definitely choose the Pinacle.

The Pan is difficult to top, if within your budget. I love sitting in the hot tub on a cold day and watching float planes land in the harbor.

  4. I'm staying at the Westin downtown Seattle in June. Room was purchased on Hotwire not Priceline. I chose Hotwire because we will be with 2 of our kids (4 people in total). Priceline doesn't guarantee a room for more than 2 occupants... we couldn't risk it. Plus going Hotwire, I know what amenities the hotel will have. A swimming pool is a must. I think we paid around $100/night. Still a good deal but not quite the price you got. Goes to show Priceline is still cheaper. If anyone is interested, here is another source for more Priceline winning bids.

I read the reviews on Tripadvisor.com about Westin (after I won it) and have to say it doesn't sound that great. Apparently the North tower is a lot better than the south tower, which is probably due for a make-over. I last visited this hotel in 97 but I didn't stay there. We met some friends for a martini in the lounge. For what it's worth, the martinis are great!
