  1. I cruised on Carnival last year and saw people with jeans and a hoodie in the dining room on formal night. I've never seen anything that bad on Princess. It would be nice to see everyone dressed nice but my opinion of nice and someone else's opinion differs. I think a hoodie and jeans is a little much, but I'm fine with a nice top and jeans. I personally wouldn't wear a hoodie and jeans to any sit down restaurant. I love dressing up and do it everyday for work. To me it's all part of the experience of cruising.

  2. My DH gets a little sea sick so hopefully it doesn't bother him. We're not next to a vent. I don't mind the noise, I'm actually looking forward to it since we usually sleep with a fan on anyway. I don't mind the walk, I've never gained weight on a cruise cause I love walking the ship :)

  3. I just booked an aft cabin for the first time. I'm on the Crown Princess next February in C752. I'm so excited to have an aft cabin cause I love watching the wake. I'm looking forward to spending come quality time with my hubby. We haven't been on vacation together since our last cruise in February 2011. It's going to be a long wait but that should make it even better when it gets here!

  4. I've been on both Princess and Carnival. If you've been on a good cruise before I wouldn't recommend Carnival. I was pretty disappointed with the service and would not cruise with them again. My friend loves RCCL, she says they're better then Princess. I haven't sailed with them so I can't compare them but I love Princess personally.

  5. I'm looking at a cruise for Feb 2015. It's been a few years since we have been able to afford a cruise so I'm not going another year without one. I was thinking about booking now since we have FCC to use but the prices are a little high. I would really like to have something booked so I have something to look forward to, even though it's over a year away. Should I wait and see if prices go down or should I book it and hope to get the price reduced if the prices do go down?

  6. after reading this thread I'm really glad I live in Canada and have excellent health insurance. I haven't paid one cent for a prescription in 4 years.

As for self medicating, I walk into my doctor's office, tell him I have a sinus infection and walk out with a prescription. He never even checks me so I'm basically self medicating. If you KNOW your symptoms then I see no porblem with self medicating.

  7. I did the UST on the Crown in February and I loved it. It was expensive but I had it given to me by family for a birthday gift. It was really rough the day we took our tour, it was hard to stand still up on the stage. It gave me a whole new respect for the dancers. Besides the bridge I liked the Laundry the best. It was interesting to see the giant washers and the folding machines. We didn't get to go the the funnel due to high winds but I wasn't dissapointed. I didn't like the engine control room, it was way too technical for me. I would do it again if it was a cheaper price without the robe and chef's jacket. The robe is really nice but I don't really wear robes so it's hanging in my closet. If your planning on buying a robe it's almost worth it to do the tour, the robes are $90 in the store. I wonder how much they could lower the price if they didn't include that.

  8. What will you be reading on your next cruise? I love easy reading mysteries on vacation (Janet Evanovich, Sue Grafton) and will be bringing both on my next cruise. This is the first time I'll be bringing a Kindle rather than actual books on vacation. If I get tired of reading, I can always play Scrabble. I'm addicted!

Do you play scrabble on your Kindle? I don't know how to do that but would love to. Can you tell me where to find it? Thanks

  9. Sex on the beach - shot of vodka, shot of peach schnapps, orange juice and a little grenadine.

Some people make it with cranberry juice but I always get it with grenadine. I also get them to turn it into a slushie when on the ship. It's much better sipping it by the pool as a slushie.

  10. I've spent the last three days reading this thread and I love it! I've only been on one cruise and didn't see this first hand but our tablemates told us about it.

They were sitting out by the pool and a couple in front of them were taking olive oil (yes the cooking oil) and rubbing it all over their body. They re-applied several times throughout the day. Our tablemates noticed they were getting really really burnt, like lobster red. When they went to apply more olive oil one of my tablemates leaned over and told them "You might not want to do that". She then got them to take a close look at themselves and the man got really upset with his wife. Aparently his wife had told him that olive oil had SPF in it and you used it like sunscreen! Since we didn't see it firsthand we had no idea who the people were but every time my friend and I saw someone losbter red we wondered if they were the olive oil people!

  11. We were on a mexican riviera cruise and were docked in Cabo and decided to go to one of the beaches. My son, 10 at the time was in the waves with some kids he met on the ship. All of a sudden he comes running out of the water with a jellyfish attached to his arm. He gets very upset easily and has bad asthma so he was crying, screaming and having trouble breathing. I am not good in panic situations myself and just stood there motionless. A woman on the beach ran over and pulled the jellyfish off. Another local man came and started spraying him with windex. He was still hysterical until another local came over and whipped out his "wee wee" and started peeing on my son's arm. He yanked his arm back and immediately stopped crying and said in shock "Mom, why is that man peeing on me?".

We returned to the ship and went to see the nurse who gave him vinegar to apply and several advil. He was fine but still has a scar and still remembers being urinated on in Mexico.

LOL I don't know why but I thought this was the funniest one of all. I'm sitting here with tears rolling down my face! I've got a funny one but I'm olny halfway through reading this huge thread. I'll post it once I'm through them all. I love this thread!
