I had 2 subdural hematomas in December 2013, and finally diagnosed and ended up in Neuro ICU in January 2014. Home in a few days, gradually tapered from heavy meds to lighter meds. They had shrunk in half by April.
Asked the Dr if I could still go on Alaska cruise in May. I had already taken a flying trip cross country and back in April.
He said as long as I wasn't more than couple hours away from a hospital, that would be ok. We did stretch it a bit.
He said I should avoid any activities that might cause me to hit my head or even shake it hard. No float plane ride, no dog sled ride, no walking on a glacier.
Bleeds finally dried up in October 2014, headaches still continue, some days not so bad, still on meds, still seeing neurologist.
Someone told me headaches continued 7 years for them.
Make sure to check with doctors.

On Solstice in 2014, we had dinners with 8, 10, or 12 people who stood in line together, and they moved 4 or 5 2-tops together by the window for us. One big happy family.

I had a terrible fear of flying and my daughter won to trip from United States to Tasmania. I was worried I would get over there and not come back. I want to see a guided therapy hypnotist 5 times before our 17 flights. He gave me a cassette tape to listen to on the flights. Over the the years I've converted it to CD and now MP3 files. They are two 25 minute recordings. If you'd like it, email me jeraldcross@comcast.net and we'll make arrangements to get you a copy.

More Americans will die from the flu this year than all the people that have died from ebola in the history of mankind. Put that in perspective.

First morning on 17 night cruise, after oversleeping and rushing to 10 am Cruise Critic gathering, came back to room, leaned just a little to look for something and blew my back out. Fortunately I was able to buy a Thalassotherapy pool pass, went there twice a day for relief. Still walked hunched over for a week, but it helped with the pain.

God Bless You and your family. I do hope that you have access to a cancer support group. They provide support to survivors and their caregivers in trying times like this.

That's how it is done. And the signs are marked 1-5, 6-10. Etc

I took my 2 Starbucks 16 oz cups with lids, and a cardboard tray from SB. Went up each day to get my coffee, and get hot water for the wife's tea. Cardboard tray left room for me to put some danish or yogurt cup on it. Many people asked me where I got it, said I brought them on from departure port.

We had the music on Solstice in early May, but at one point, it was turned off for a while, so as not to disturb some animals, if I recall

On our recent cruise, we had 3 ships in most ports. 6700 passengers in a town of 900-1000 people. Very crowded in downtown areas, especially in Ketchikan in the pouring rain. Go on an out of town excursion if you can.

Nope, but I've heard those cars have been flipped over or on their sides

Take no guarantees. On my last cruise, Celebrity wouldn't let me bring on my 12 pk of sugar free-caffeine free cola, it was a generic Canadian brand, like Sams Club, from a grocery store, written in French.
Guy said because they didn't sell it onboard, I couldn't have it. Or he just didn't know what it was. Gave me a receipt and said I could get it on debark.
Saw the hotel director at mix and mingle, mentioned it to him, and the pkg was in my room by that night.

We had 4 inches of snow in one afternoon in Dusseldorf, came just an hour after bright shiny day. Didn't affect us on the boat at all

front of ship
funnels end
I assume they dropped them down the night before they came into port, and raised them back up again later.

We were on this cruise also. Started sailaway in the Hemisphere lounge. Ran out the door to take pics as we went under the Lionsgate bridge. It was raining very much, Got pics as the front end went under, and then some long shots at the funnels. Wasn't going to race down the wet deck to funnels. Will try to post later

We were on celebrity solstice early May and we went to cruise in. but there was so much ice we had to turn around and go back out. Never got near the glacier. Did take 4 hours anyway. Very beautiful.
