2020 was a difficult year for every cruise enthusiast. We were lucky to be able to do 3 cruises in 2020 (one Danube river cruise and 2 Costa cruises Deliziosa and Smeralda). Obviously, a lot of precautions had to be taken for everyone's safety before boarding (twice PCR Covid Test). On board too, precautions had to be taken all the time (social distancing, wearing face masks, not being able to disembark freely, no sharing tables for dinner/entertainment, contact tracing device with you at every time) but it is what it is! We made the best of it right now. We enjoyed the good food onboard Costa Deliziosa, the friendly staff, the beautiful weather and some interesting ports of call. There was also one positive aspect to this covid situation: only +-500 passengers on board (normal capacity: 2826). This gave a calm, relaxed and safe feeling in all public places on the ship. At the end of the cruise there was the opportunity to be tested on board the night before disembarkation. Costa Cruises made a serious effort and should be appreciated for the commitment and taking the lead to keep cruise tourism afloat despite knowing what the future will hold and what the new normal will be. Itinerary 6 days: Trieste - Bari - Brindisi - Syracuse - Catania - sea day - Trieste
Please enjoy our video from this trip:

@Jimmyke, thank you so much for posting your video. It brought back a lot of memories of places I've been, and showed me places I want to visit. I enjoyed the background music.
Thank you for your appreciation for the video and music. Always difficult to choose (royalty free) music. Glad that the video could bring back memories to you!

We did Antarctica with the Cloud (first season) in February, 2018. Loved the video! Brought back so many great memories of our trip. We are doing the Arctic in summer but are trying the Scenic Eclipse for that one. Thanks for sharing your video.
We were on the inaugural voyage of the Cloud but didn't make it to Antarctica due to engine problems. Cloud is very beautiful.

As someone with a sort of movie background, I did appreciate Jimmy's technique which should be a lesson for many people - keep the camera steady, don't pan around all the time and don't zoom in or out.
Thank YOU, I hope if you haven't done so already, you'll consider subscribing to my channel 🙂?

^^^^ forget that. Further reading suggests the use of drones is either discouraged or banned. Oh well.... High powered telephoto it is then!
Indeed, drones are not aloud but there's a photographer on board who has a permit for using his drone. At the end of the cruise you get a movie with outstanding drone shots.

Outstanding and certainly makes me want to visit either the Artic or Antarctic and I have to admit it's mostly for photographic opportunities.
Was any mention made or did you see anyone using a drone while you were there. From the brief search I've done from a legal perspective, it seems the use is ok as long as wildlife not harassed.
PS..... I won't be doing any Polar plunge! lol I always find the ships pool at the end of summer in the Med too cold.. I can't imagine doing that being anything other than painful.
One of the expedition team told us Antarctica, South Georgia and Russia Far East are the most beautiful, better then the Arctic. But maybe that's a personal view. To see polar bears it's better to do Russia Far East than Arctic.
I didn't intend to do the polar plunge either but when the moment is there the excitement takes over ;-)!

You did a good job. Looks like the weather corporated, lucky guys...
Yes, the expedition leader told us we had exceptional weather, almost all the time blue skies! We were lucky though we didn't experience the harshness of Antarctica :-)) .

As do we, lovely property
Yes, the Alvear Palace is iconic but we slightly prefer the Palladio because of a more welcome feeling. Something we missed at the Alvear Palace.

We had a nice Caribbean cruise this past March on Silver Wind, which is a lovely ship, hitting all the small islands that were devastated during the 2017 hurricane season. As usual, the staff was lovely, and we were lucky to be sailing with Keegan from the entertainment squad. He ran up to us on the pier at check-in, and it was like seeing a dear old friend. We were surprised he recognized us! Lucky for us, we had the chance to have dinner with him one night, such a lively, funny, and sincerely sweet man.
Alas, we booked a week up the east coast of US/Canada, which we just returned from, on another line, a BIG ship. I have to say, we had a great time, met lovely people, but we are investigating our next Silversea adventure. What do you have planned? Perhaps we can join you on another amazing voyage like Borneo.
Jan
Funny..., we were cruising the Caribbean as well in March, not SilverSea but Oceania. Our mother joined us. We have an Antarctica cruise planned with Silver Explorer, very much looking forward to that!

Most Singaporeans live in public housing built by the HDB. A visit to a public housing town was enlightening and informative. You'll gain a deeper understanding of how Singaporeans live, shop, eat and worship as well as an appreciation of the vision, planning and hard work that has propelled Singapore to where it is today.

I loved the video too bit it gives the impression that there are very few passengers on board. By contrast, reading some of the threads they talk about showing spat La Terrazza with a reservation and having to wait for half an hour.
Thanks though for the great video.
Indeed, the feeling of very few passenger is correct. Never had to make a reservation for La Terrazza!
