  1. If you go to Saint George on the ferry, I would try to go to Clearwater Beach.  You would probably want to take a taxi from where the ferry stops, unless you can take the bus that goes all the way to the beach.  A bus map will say "St. David's via Clearwater Beach", or something like that. The beaches are beautiful.  There was a restaurant/bar there, but it wasn't open when we were there in October.  I think they have new management, so I don't know what it's like now.  We used to like it a lot. Be sure and walk down the road to Cooper's Island Nature Reserve(our favorite place in Bermuda).  Really beautiful scenery!  You'll also be close to the original Swizzle Inn which is a great place to have lunch.  It's on the main road, soon after you cross the bridge leaving St George.

The town of St George has very interesting buildings. You can usually tour the church there.  There are several good restauants on the water.

If you go to Hamilton, Flannigans, just across the street from the harbor, is a good restaurant/bar.  It's nice to eat outside with a good view of the water.

We like the Frog and Onion if you want to eat or just get a drink at the dockyard.

In general, we usually like to take the bus as it's so much less expensive.  Bus driver's are very helpful.  You can just tell them where you're going and they'll let you know if you're getting of the right bus.

    I have a great trip!

  2. I know what you mean.  We were supposed to go last April and spent a month worrying about whether we should go or not go and going back and forth about it, but then they closed the airport so our decision was made for us!  We re-scheduled everything(which wasn't as easy as I had hoped) for September 28, thinking that surely this mess would be over by then.  I think we'll feel the same way as you about relaxing.   I'm already missing the pre-trip excitement...again with the "should we or shouldn't we" going on.  We're planning to have our Covid tests done on Monday and then just go from there.  We are looking forward to Bermuda not being as crowded as usual...At least, I hope that's the case...And then there are hurricanes coming???!!!

Again, thank you so much for all of your help and support.

  3. Thank you so much for your information.  I'll look into going through our doctor for the test.

I've been hoping to hear from someone who's been there during this COVID time.  We're planning to stay for 10 days (hopefully), so we can give up the time spent in quarantine that first day.

Did you find the testing done once in Bermuda to be difficult?

We're staying at one resort for 5 days, and then move to a different one for our last 5 days.  Do you think that will create a problem?

Thank you again for your help!

  4. Thank you so much for your encouragement.  We're planning on going as of now.  I'm going to contact our resort to see if they'll let us re-schedule at the last minute if our tests don't come back in time.  We'll see!!

  5. Thank you so much.  It looks like Bermuda should be the safest place on the planet with all of their requirements, which I really appreciate.  Our biggest concern at this point is getting the pre-departure test back in 7 days!

    Thanks again

  6. Since we're unable to cruise to Bermuda this year, we were thinking about flying there this fall.  There seems to be a great deal of testing required.  Has anyone tried to fly there or heard anything about how difficult that would be?  Thank you.

  7. Thank you so much!  You've certainly made us feel more secure.  Our biggest worry is probably we Americans bringing it to Bermuda with us, but, hopefully, everyone will follow the rules and be safe.

    Have a nice evening.

  8. Thank you so much for all of your helpful information about Bermuda, Charles.  I've really learned a lot from you through the years.

Our trip in April was cancelled so we are hoping to fly there, also.  We have made plans for the end of September.  We will gladly go through all the procedures that are in place regarding the Corona Virus.  Our biggest concern is coming down with it while in Bermuda.  Do you know anything about their procedures as far as quarantines go, and also, the level of medical care we could expect should it be needed?

    Thank you again.

  9. Yes.  I'm sure they would be happy to call for you.  There may be a delay in a taxi responding though.  One year when we were there, they couldn't get a taxi to come at all, but that was several years ago.  There are many more people going to Clearwater now, so, hopefully, that won't be a problem for you.

  10. Gombey's is at Clearwater Beach so just ask the taxi driver to drop you off there.  Nature Reserve is a short, easy  walk up the road.  Neither is hard to find.

  11. It's about 5 minutes or less from Clearwater Beach.  Just walk down the road to the right as you look at the water.  There's a sign there and a gate, but the gate is just to keep cars out so just walk around it.

  12. Clearwater is our favorite beach in Bermuda, mainly because you can walk to Cooper Island Reserve, breath-taking views and several smaller beaches with very few people.  Food and drinks at Gombey's are great.  If you go by taxi, you may want to ask him/her to come back to get you at a certain time.

  13. Thank you both so much.  Good advice.  Especially, thank you for the rental car codes.  We're planning to drive down to the Keys, otherwise we would use the Uber as you suggested.  Great idea otherwise and we'll probably do that on our next trip.

    Thanks again!

  14. We were planning to rent a car at the Fort Lauderdale airport and return it at the Miami airport, but the price difference to return it to a different location is huge.  I thought that in Florida that wasn't the case.  Am I missing something or just misinformed?  Thank you so much for your help.
