  1. Thank you all for the help! I don't want to miss the Welly (Gordon Ramsey's fault). We are still up in the air about the Top Chef menu. I've never seen that show but I have not heard many good reviews.

New to Celebrity so I'm excited for Qsine and a new adventure!

  2. I'd like to find out which night the Summit will have Beef Wellington (don't want to miss it) and the Top Chef night (would prefer to do specialty dining that night). I did a search for the menus but I can't find anything.

Any ideas which night is which for Bermuda?

    Thank you.

  3. Last year we were on an RCI cruise and booked a Summit cruise for this year. We booked a Cat 6. We have never sailed Celebrity but are Diamond on Royal. Signed up for CC as Elite.

I called Celebrity just before final payment to change our cabin. When I did, the agent said I qualified for an "upgrade", so he priced it at the lower category (we wanted to stay at the Cat 6).

Not only did we get one of the "conference rooms", but the price dropped quite a bit since we booked. Worked out well.

  4. We have "traditional" dining booked for the early seating on an upcoming Summit cruise. Having read that the tables for 2 are very close together, would the seating style change if we switched over to Select dining once on board?

I believe I read that they use two different sections of the dining room and the Select area has tables for 2 that are more "isolated" along the railing. Is that correct?

  5. I booked a Nellie's cabana on-line. I understand you can go to the Explorations desk and "pick" a cabana or they will randomly assigned one to you.

Question: we like a LOT of sun, so which cabana would you suggest to get sun on the deck portion for most of the time there?

I've seen pictures and some of them seem to be in the shade and we want to avoid that.

    Thanks!

  6. We are arriving later in the day, so we will be overnighting in either MIA or FLL before heading to the Keys in the morning. I want to make that drive during the light of day, to enjoy it, rather than in the dark.

Any suggestions on a private car company for the MIA Amtrak station??

Someone suggested using Uber Black service....thoughts?

  7. We have a choice-get off in FTL and taxi it to the airport to pick up our rental car OR get off in MIA and taxi it to the airport for our rental car.

MIA has a great deal on a rental (and we're heading down to the Keys before our cruise, so it's closer, too) BUT my other half is in a panic about having to take a taxi from MIA at night (heard it was in a really bad neighborhood ).

Thoughts? Would you suggest a Town Car service for MIA? Or just get off in FTL or even the Hollywood station?

    Thanks for you help :o)

  8. We are taking Amtrak to Florida from New England. We had planned to get off in FLL, pick up a car and head to the Keys before our cruise. However I just found an amazing deal with Alamo out of Miami.

So if we take Amtrak all the way to Miami, how easy is it to get from the train to the airport? Via taxi or Uber? Or is their a rail connection now, right into MIA?

    TIA!!

  9. Yes, we will turn Diamond on this cruise but sailing as Emerald. I only mentioned it to note that we are not new to RCI or cruising.

I wondered if they would have all of the fun stuff, like Quest, on a "short" cruise. Thanks for that info!

Still hoping to get a 5 night Compass...just one day, so I can see how things look. We have all repeat stops for us so our plan is to get a drink package and spend our time in the sun, with umbrella beverage in hand ;) Those 5 days are going to fly by!

  10. We will be sailing on our first 5 night cruise and also the first time on the Indy. We usually sail for at least 7 nights but we got such a great deal on this one when we booked it on the Explorer, we couldn't pass it up.

I'm wondering if anyone has a Cruise Compass from a 5 nighter? I presume they only have 1 formal night, correct?

Other than being a shorter sailing, is there anything else that might be different? Even though we will turn Diamond on this cruise, I feel like I'm a newbie because of the "altered" week.

    TIA!

  11. Can you by-pass the luggage drop and park your car first? (we're going to try driving thru the opening in the fence as suggested, to get closer to the terminal) We only have 1 suitcase each and can easily roll it with us. Will a porter be easy to find to check them?

We wanted to avoid the luggage drop area since I've read it's a nightmare sometimes, with cars pulling in and out and crossing eachother. I would rather skip all that and bring my luggage from my parked car myself.

Can it be done and is it advisable?

  12. Thank you for the quick reply! On our last cruise, on the Navigator, we were excited to gamble all week only to realize once we were on board that they didn't have it....only Three Card Poker. Yuk.

I'm happy to hear the Explorer has it....makes for a much more entertaining week!

  13. Thank you for all the info! I had a good deal at the Hyatt in Morristown since I have status with them but due to all of the advice, I've switched over to the Sheraton in Edison instead.

I appreciate all of the help...and have adjusted my plans accordingly :)

  14. We decided to add a stay in Atlantic City prior to our cruise out of Cape Liberty. However, it is too expensive to stay there the Friday night before we sail, so we are driving over to Morristown NJ for that night, then leaving the next morning for the cruise.

Wondering how long it will take to get from Morriwtown to the port? Mapquest says 35 minutes and I'm wondering if that's accurate-for a Saturday morning.

Will it be difficult to navigate once we get close to the Terminal or are there plenty of signs?

  15. NO is a very easy port to leave from. Get there early, as others have noted, to avoid the long wait. We arrived around 10:30am and it was empty. No lines. Zero. There are plenty of porters to take your bags when you arrive. Once you check in and get your Seapass card, the lines will be divided up by C&A, Suite, etc. You'll go through security with metal detectors and before you know it, you're on the top deck with a drink in your hand looking over the city of New Orleans. Loved traveling down the river. It was amazing! Enjoy!

  16. When I factor in how much time I am off the ship the program would not work for me.

I agree-OP, it depends on your itinerary and what your plans are. If you are going to be off the ship 3-4 days, then it's probably not worth it. However, if you're going to stay on the ship at some ports (that you've already been to), then it's probably a good buy.

We are sailing on a Bahamas itinerary soon and if you combine the sea days, our staying on the ship in Port Canaveral and being able to use the package at CoCo Cay, buying it is a no-brainer for us!
