    Help!

We've cruised for years but always to the Caribbean so I could talk all day about Florida departures.  Seattle is a first for us, so we know NOTHING!   I don't even know the name of the port!

We'd like something that has shuttle (free hopefully) from airport to hotel, and somewhat close to the port.  It will most likely also need to be late shuttle due to our schedules.  We will be in Seattle only to sleep and catch the ship so we don't need to be near any tourist attractions.  Just a nice, clean, safe and somewhat reasonable hotel for a few hours to sleep before our cruise.  My guess is we'll be arriving late due to our work schedules and flights.  We don't cruise until May of 2024 but I'd like to get as much planning and things paid for in advance as I can.

Thanks all!  Any other Seattle & Alaska advice is always welcome.

Hello!  What cruise line you are sailing on with determine which port it leaves from.  We have two here in Seattle.  Who will you be sailing with?

  2. @Ferry_Watcher how have the waits been to get on the ships these days?  Have they ironed out the kinks yet?  We are leaving on this Monday, June12th on Quantum of the Seas.  And is early better than late, I assume?  Our time slot is 11:30 but we would like to arrive earlier than that.  TIA for your info!

Yes, Quantum can dock downtown.  We docked downtown last year on Ovation.  We actually had the premier spot with Celebrity Millennium sitting right in front of us.

RCI changes the clocks to AK time.

  4. Has Quantum of the Seas ever docked downtown, or is it too big?  We were there last May and docked at Ward Cove.  My mother in laws tour company is telling her it will be docked downtown and I question if that’s correct.

Also, does the ship changed to AK time zone, or does it stay on Pacific?  I cannot recall what happened last year.

Thank you in advance for your assistance. I have tried to research this without success. So, thanks for your patience if this has been asked a million times! 😘

  5. There are amazing things to see and so in and outside of Seattle. Don’t be afraid of exploring. That being said, keep away from 3rd and Pine.
Pike Place, the gum wall, ferry ride over to Bainbridge or any other island, Chihuly Glass, MoPOP, Space Needle (only if it’s a clear day is it worth the price, in my opinion), harbor boat tour…I could go on and on.  You can get a city pass which would save you some money. https://www.citypass.com/seattle?mv_source=rkg&adpos=&creative=617830560396&device=c&matchtype=p&network=g&gclid=Cj0KCQiA6rCgBhDVARIsAK1kGPKisoJAdBtKc7iODC6cuKNUNAFb7P9-jLMq1IF1Sc-fjwJQeLkhC9EaAvnYEALw_wcB

  6. I cannot tell you anything about the hotel itself, but the area is not ideal. As long as you don’t plan to explore outside of the hotel, I’m sure it would be fine. We have stayed near an airport (Hobby in Houston) before and we just didn’t venture very far. It was good enough for just one night. Have a wonderful cruise!

  7. I live in the Seattle area (Redmond to be exact) and I do not like driving in Seattle at all. Traffic is ridiculous, Super hilly roads, parking is hard to come by and the parking decks are SO tight. I would Uber instead unless you plan to explore outside of the city. Just my opinion. Have a wonderful time!  And steer clear of Third and Pine. Very rough intersection. Homelessness is bad, so be mindful of your surroundings.

After you get off the tender walk along the marina until you come to the display of surfboards (on your left) walk past them to the street...that's where the taxi/pedicabs are. We were just there again last month.

    Thank you!

I have walked Cabo at night only twice (we are normally in Cabo only for a one day port call), but I did not feel any sense of danger.  However, I would grab a taxi or a pedicab; a 30 minute walk seems a bit much if there are no sights along the way.

    Thank you!

  10. We will be in Cabo in March on Navigator of the Seas. My husband and I plan to eat at Taqueria El Gran Pastor, as we’ve been told their tacos are amazing by numerous people!  However, my mother in law and sister in law will be traveling with us and they are vegan. They would like to eat at La Rana Vegana, which is downtown. Will they be ok to walk or should they plan to get there some other way?  I’ve attached a screenshot of the Google map for reference. TIA for your reply!

  11. I agree with @Gardyloo…all great suggestions!

Deception Pass on a clear day is amazing!  this would be my top pick if the weather is good. Otherwise, I would save it for your next trip. (On Whidbey Island, besides Coupeville, the town of Langley is cute too. Nice shops and restaurants.)

Snoqualmie Falls and a hike to Twin Falls is great no matter what our weather is like. Easy to do all in one day. The town of Snoqualmie is nice, too.

I would also say a couple days in Friday Harbor is always great, but you would really need to plan ahead. A ferry is the only way to or from (other than seaplanes) and you would want to secure your ferry rides ahead of time. Traffic can be bad, going north, depending on the time of day. So that might be best left for another time. But the San Juan Islands are so beautiful!  Even the ferry ride over is stunning!

Enjoy your visit here. You’re going to love it!

Bainbridge is fun to visit and an easy ferry ride.
